I'm sorry, but for me it doesn't work, I was curious that maybe there was another fix but I guess there isn't. It's all good though, I still get fps increases and the game looks way more beautiful with your mod. Maybe its a weird compatibility thing with my computer, at any rate, i'll still continue to use and enjoy the mod. perhaps it'll be fixed in the full update.
I'm guessing you're not disabling it "globally" like you need to do.
Please release it until tomorow..i love optifine
but its takin WAY 2 long :c<3
this mentality is one that promotes unpolished releases. allow sp614x to take his time and try to polish all the bugs / features he can. after all, this is a free mod.

What's taking so long is because they completely hosed the chunk rendering distance. Chunks do not render past the setting of Short+32. If you do not believe me go over a ocean then turn fog off and put the render distance on Short+32, then place a piece of paper on the dark blue edge limit and then turn it to Extreme. It does not move, the only thing that happens is your computer will slow down as it still loads them, but nothing happens view wise.
ETA: I thank you sp614x for trying to fix this mess. And if you can not don't worry about it then, just put out the best bug free OptiFine version you can and let the MC coders fix it.
Heya SP614x I am using the A2 preview. I noticed when i swap the chunk loading mode to Multicore my memory starts rising fairly very fast and eventually the memory hits its max and starts freezing up my computer for a half second. These lockups happen more and more and in my debug my memory is nearly maxed out close to 800 megs then dropping down a bit then back up to 800 megs.
I watched my memory and it would spike up in debug and then freeze and the memory would drop, HOWEVER, the memory it would drop too would be much higher then previously and eventually it would freeze more often at a frequency of near unplayability.
I swapped the render mode to Smooth and the memory no longer raises up fast nor does it freeze. Also this memory not getting released was happening while I stood nearly in the same area in my world in multiplayer. I was just flattening out some desert to turn into a 100x100ish cane farm.
It's completely reproduceable on my machine currently and it only seems to happen when I use multicore chunk loading method. Take note i'm just talking about the memory usage inside minecraft, not on taskman.
Windows 7
Ram 4GB (I know i need 4x more ...working on it)
AMD 965 Phenom X4
Java 7u5
This issue didn't happen previously and it also doesn't happen with stock minecraft 1.3. If there is any information you would like me to gather let me know and I'll gladly try to submit it. Otherwise if anyone has any idea as to why im getting this memory leak only when multicore is on please let me know.
I recently pulled the A2 Prerelease for 1.3.1 and am happy to report that it works like a charm, gives me a 20% FPS Increase even on a 64x64 Texture Pack!
Thanks for the sweet mod!

Define Cute (choose 1): A) Creepers Aerbunnies C) Herobrine. If you chose A): You appeal to destruction and to stereotypes. If you chose B): You are a perfectly normal person, and enjoy the Aether Mod. If you chose C): Please leave the planet now before you set off a nuclear warhead--no one enjoys mass murders, however nice they might seem to you.
Has anyone else had memory problems with the two latest releases (for 1.3.1)
I assume it's some kind of memory leak, as the memory usage increases to about 1G over the span of 20 minutes, then maxing out and crashing Minecraft.
I haven't had these problems with any other versions of OptiFine, and it's happened with both of the previews, A1 and A2.
Nothing else has changed from 1.2.5, same Java version, all that. All that's changed is OptiFine.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I think I'm getting memory leaks as well. The game suffers some serious lag spikes after some minutes of play for me. Upon checking my RAM usage, it gets maxed out until closing Minecraft. (I have 4gigs)
I know this may sound ironic but optifine lags me, I dont know why. I really love the weather off, and the zoom thing. If i turn on advance open gl its bugs and shows a lot of chunks error, can you please tell me what is wrong?

That same thing happened to me when i tryed it first.. then i actually looked at the different versions and found i was using one of the more advanced versions.. i then decided to just use the Standard one and now it works fine (well for 1.2.5 anyways.. still waiting for the 1.3.1 update)
If I have 4 cores, Intel HD 3000, Intel i5 Processor, 6 gigs of RAM, which should I use? I normally use Ultra but I wonder if using Smooth or Standard when they come will increase FPS, due to less options.
I recomend Optifine !
This is epic

Ah, I wasn't but now that I have it still has flashing chunks.
Reboot your system first after disabling it globally. Also, make sure your video driver is up to date in the first place.
