Windows/Linux Instructions:(cribbed from Scaevolus' original post)
1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Windows, it's in %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin
2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar
3) Open minecraft.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc) 4) Delete the META-INF folder.
5) Copy the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files.
6) Run Minecraft and test!
Mac Instructions:
1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Mac, it's in <home>/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin
2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar
3) rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip and double-click it to extract the contents
4) rename the resulting folder to minecraft.jar and open it
5) copy the .class files from the downloaded zip into the minecraft.jar folder, replacing previous files
6) Run Minecraft and test!
Sounds great, I've heard a lot about this mod and really hope it helps us. I like to do "lets plays", and running Fraps really lowers your framerates. Plus with these updates, it seems to be getting worse.
Let me be the first to ask the noob question on your install. No problem putting the class files into minecraft.jar. But where are we supposed to put the items in the "SRC and Stuff" folder?
uhh... i wouldnt download this guys. he might be telling the truth r this could be a virus. either way, you should let the actual mod creator update his own mod
He already posted it in Optimine's thread and several people used it(including me). It's fine.

There's been a great deal of positive feedback on the other thread, but this is a very valid point. If you'd like to be more confident, download this and the official optimine, decompile them, and compare the results. You'll see they're nearly identical save the class names (and a few field/method names) that changed from 1.3 to 1.4.
Two things off with that statement. One, Optimine isn't 303's mod, it's Scaevolus's. Two, the Optimine thread is still labeled 1.3, and as such is not updated for 1.4.
This mod, as with most mods, will probably cause problems in the browser-based version of Minecraft. Use the download version instead!
303 has updated optimine for 1.5_01!
See 303's post here or just download the update (v2)

Please read the OP before posting.
I had heard that but couldn't find it anywhere. Have a link?
Yes, just don't use optimine's ox.class.
Why the hell would I do that when I can host it myself perfectly well?
