I seem to have run into a weird issue with the rust monster mod. At night I get swarmed by hundreds of them.
Not sure what is causing it, but they are also very hostile towards me for some reason.
This is a massive update, hence the jump in version number.
The spawning issues with rust monsters should be fixed in their entirety, both locational and population issues. They should no longer be capable of spawning on the surface, and their numbers should be severely limited. Rust monsters are now explicitly limited to four in a given chunk.
Rust monster behavior has also been improved. They will now consume items on the ground, and only items of their preferred types. They will damage armor worn if it's of the appropriate materials, and will damage items you use to attack them if they are of the appropriate material.
The rust monster is awesome. It freaks me out! My precious iron, noooo!!!!!!
Awesome mod, will love to see how the animations/sounds make this monster even scarier.
Take this iron and . . . beware of the rust monster!
i just ran a test on your mod with a ten block deep lake, some dirt and a meteor summoner!!
i used the dirt to make a pillar to the surface, then destroyed all the blocks but the surface one; and called in a meteor on it, but took away the block and the meteor fell in the water but did not hit the bottom!
.......so now i have a harmless, invincible, gravelly colored slime minus the slimehop.png

Testing Meteorite 3.4
Ore generation - OK
Explosion - OK
Fire - OK
Deep Impact - OK
Meteor size- OK
Spawn rate - no meteor in day, meteor spam in night. My settings : rarity-700, rarity2-6, maxmeteor-1
Sound - no sound
P.S.: All the meteor versions that i tested had the same spawn rate problem, im trying to figure out if its related to some other mod (chances are 0.0001%).
Regarding the meteor spawning issues, I think the issue is similar to the rust monster issue. If that is the case, should be a pretty quick fix. I'll start working on it soon, expect an update in the next couple days.
I installed, Uninstalled,Installed, Uninstalled, and Installed again and the Meteorite Options file still doesn't generate. Any help?
OMG NVM!!! the second I said this it generated the file lol. GREAT MOD BTW!!!
I am waiting for the release of 1.5 to implement some modifications to how meteors spawn, which will hopefully get around the weird spawning issues some folk are having.
Once that's done, I'll start working on meteors interacting properly with water, then I'll start pondering how to make meteors fall at angles rather than just straight down.
I have a few other projects in the works, as well, and maybe I'll actually release another new mod soon-ish after 1.5.
Even though I've had this mod installed for a while, I've yet to encounter a meteorite. But I still love the idea of it. Now that 1.5 is out, I hope to see it updated. Thanks for the mod.
Alright, folks, 1.5 is out, so you know the drill.
Once Risugami updates ModLoader to be 1.5-compatible, I'll commence working on both these mods to (1) make them 1.5 compatible, and (2) implement a few tweaks in the Meteorite mod.
For the next version, could you add an option that allows you to turn off dropped blocks from the explosion caused by the meteors for the Meteorite mod?
Also included is a new option, dropBlocks, which controls whether or not meteors generate ore chunks upon impact.
Also attempted to fix water interaction - again, meteors should self-destruct upon coming in contact with water. Let me know if this is functioning properly or not.
Another update in the near future is planned to fix meteor spawning problems.
Rust Monster will be updated to work with 1.5_01 rather shortly.

Edit: they explode if they move out of water to ground while swimming.

Still? Thought I had fixed that... I'll look into it when I'm done getting the rust monster to spawn and behave appropriately.
Yep, this is a known issue. It is being worked on.
If you have any metal on you, they will hate you. If you attack them, they will hate you.
Otherwise, they shouldn't care about you.

Also, I am confused by the post above; does meteorite-mod add new items?
Minecraft technology - the logical way - the only way.
There are still apparently some issues with the meteorites' interactions with water.
I'll be looking into it probably sometime in the next couple days, if not sooner.
Yep, it is not a critter to be messed with.
Yes, the meteorite mod has an option in its option files that, if set to true, allows you to craft meteor summoners.
