Pistons are being added by notch in 1.7, there wouldn't be much point :SWhat will happen when 1.7 is out? Will these pistons be turned into official pistons?
So far, it appears that the official pistons being added will not launch entities like players/NPCs, sand, and TNT. This is not the only difference.
Hippoplatimus has stated that he intends on adjusting the mod to allow for launching entities again.
I suppose that pistons could delete the source block of water or lava if they extend into it but it wont push water if thats what u were hoping
Pistons block water and/or lava. So, they can be used as water/lava gates etc. They don't burn (unknown for the "official" ones at this time) so you can use them to make a bridge that pops up out of water/lava. This is also useful if you want to make an automatic cobblestone farm or self-building cobblestone wall/floor/bridge.
Hey guys,I have recently tested out the Paint Mod by HippoplatimusJust testing for some bugsPlease vote for this post. Here are some screenshots for you. Thanks.
No offense, but I believe Hippo (as he previously stated) is trying to prevent discussion of any other mod he creates separately from this thread. It appears he hasn't set up a different thread for that mod yet but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want a separate discussion for that mod going on in the discussion for the Pistons Mod.
On a completely different note, doesn't anyone like the second banner that I made for Hippo and this mod to use it? Just curious.
Really. I posted it a few pages ago and no-one has seen. People still ask. There was one bug which I have since fixed and play quite happily on my lan server. Entity Pushing, Tile-Entity Pushing, the works and sticky pistons will still push you to the regular height if you are not standing directly on the sticky part. I will post it again with the bugfix but only if anyone cares, doesn't have rails pushed again. Should be a simple matter to add the code though but only if anyone cares. Thanks for listening to my ramble.
I do not know if the links he provided still work but I would suspect that those links are to a previous version before he implemented the bug fixes he also spoke of after he posted those original links. I don't believe he re-posted the links for the updated version.
fantastic! But too bad notch is taking this away from you and making his own version. But I came across one problem using this mod: When a stick piston Pulls another sticky piston, the stick piston that is being pulled does not take the thing it is stuck to with it. Can you fix this? That would be great as for I need that for things that look like walls but turn into a 2x2 open pathway.

It's that way by design.
However, you can move walls back and out of the way already:
Video is slightly outdated. You no longer need to push the piston into place before sending power to it.
I seem to be having trouble using this mod. For some reason the sticky pistons will sometimes get stuck in push position and won't move even when they are completely cut off from any source of power. Have I done something wrong? Are the sticky pistons still a little buggy? Or is it meant to be like that?
Guys can i ask you something what do you think about noch adding pistons i love the fact that he is adding them but i dont like the way he has taken the fun bits out of it like lauching things(sand, creepers, yourself) thats my view i would like to hear you oppions on it?
perhaps if you would bother reading the thread instead of just posting you already would have seen what a lot of us thought about it, since we had already shared our opinion about that particular subject.
I'm having problems with the sticky piston eating the block in front of it instead of pushing it. I have 2 sticky pistons set up so that 1 piston pushes the second piston and then the second piston pushes the stairs. I have the redstone wiring set up so that it is lit before the second piston is pushed into place and there is a delay for the first piston so that it can retract correctly.
Here is what I mean:
As you can see the top single piston works fine, but the bottom 2 pistons end up eating the stairs.
i tried to use it on my server, but when i try to pull the crafted piston out of the crafting table, it gets "pulled back" Oo
That's because the Piston is an invalid item ID, and as such, the server has no idea what to do with Item DV: 100. Thus, the server considers it as nothing, and puts it back into the crafting table. You need to mod the server to make pistons (And I don't know how to mod the server, I forgot where the server-side mod was)

Hope you now that you are the first that's mod is implemented in minecraft?

False. McRegion I believe was the first. It changed how the maps are saved since it wasn't optimised before and had hundreds of files for a single map.

No. I heard someone mention them porting it to multiplayer, but I don't remember where it was.

the pistons are purple? anyone know how to fix?
Although it takes away yyour revenue.
Notch better be paying you!
Give a man a fish, and he'll be fed for a day.
You can already use pistons through this mod. The official pistons coming in 1.7 are based off of this mod which is usable now.
You can't even read just three posts above you where I answered this for someone else (again).

For those of you that were looking for the information someone had posted about having made a multiplayer version of this mod, here was that info:

I agree that the text looks out of place. This is the result for meanwhile lol.
notch said that pistons wouldn't do what they do in the mod like launch stuff be used as an elevator etc.

Sandstone was a mod long before that :tongue.gif:
