Any chance we can get villagers repairing their towns? Another neat feature would be making the guard(s) go around killing any nearby monsters. I also second the idea of a wall but not sure how well that would work with your current setup and doubt it could be manually added as a custom building (villagers would need to build 'inside' the giant hollow rectangular building).

Also, while your format works sufficiently for the moment, might I suggest upgrading to the NBT format? http://www.minecraft.net/docs/NBT.txt
it has additional support for block meta-data which would allow proper positioning of beds, ladders, etc (as well as colored wool and the different types of stairs) according to the design instead of needing to make an educated guess. There is also a open sourced java library for working with this filetype http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=5982
it would make creating custom buildings a little more challenging as you'd need to use MCEdit or similar program that exports with an NBT format (such as .schematic) or design a java GUI for drawing buildings but I think in the long run it'd be worth it by allowing much more complex structures.
For walls, you can probably make "wall segments" - long, narrow buildings. You'd kinda have to hope they build them in the right spot, but you can wait to add them until the town is already built up. Walls in the wrong spot wouldn't be too horrible either, it would just look like the town expanded beyond it's original walls.
I connected up two of the watchtowers that got built in my town. (I increased the count, they weren't duped buildings.)

I can't really make a video tutorial, but the layout files are simple text files that can be opened in Notepad or any text editor. (Notepad++ is good)

Its hilarious, there's a long train of like 12 villagers running to a farm then back to the tavern again. all saying "A cider never hurt anyone." (except my framerate)

I have a bugged out family that are all stuck. I can't kill them or get rid of them I removed their house and farm even surrounded them in stone and tried to drown them, even lava won't kill them. Anyone know a way to get rid of them?

I did that in one of my buildings edited but they dont come out right, kinda randomly orientated
