I like the idea, and I could see it being useful for extensions to existing buildings, but I don't think it will work for walls. The biggest problem with those is having them adapt to the ground (altitude changing, obstacles, etc.), and I don't think I can do that without very specific coding instead of the regular building plans.
Ok, looks like the fort is being considered to be an inn as well for some reason. I assume you guys have not modified the fort in any way?
It turns out that, I modified my Town Hall by putting a North/South sign on it. Would that have affected it. I haven't modified my fort in any way so you may have just found out the problem? :biggrin.gif:

Umm well my fort was generated using a wand on a diamond block, I had to dig my way out of the earth as the fort was placed on top of me, the dirt was under the fort so that may count as modifying the fort?
Also, I'm not sure if anyone has realised this or maybe I didn't read about it being mentioned or fixed, but, I think the lumberjack goes way too fast :S
Sorry if this has already been talked about :S

No, I don't see how adding a sign would change things. I meant modified the building plans.
Can other people report whether they have this bug or not? Any Town Hall (or fort or abbey) that shows the import/export signs presumably has it.

How long did it take? And how many lumbermen do you have in that village?

I flattened out a 300x300 area, and planted a diamond block right in the center. I set the weight of all village types to 0. (I had to, as every time I left the weight alone, villages would spawn in my nice flat area in spite of it being an already explored area, and screw up the placement I wanted.) I use TMI to give myself a wand, and poof myself a Gros Bourg.
I end up with one hamlet, all the way on the edge of my flat area. Right on the edge, and all except one wall of one building is trying to spread into the very hilly, terrible to build in area, outside my carefully prepared flat area. The other two hamlets didn't spawn at all.
How big do I have to make an area to get all 3 hamlets??? 300x300 should be far more than enough, even upping my village radius to 70 to fit in a few large custom buildings.
P.S. I added in a possible fix to the lumberman problem. It's the 2nd to last suggestion on the wiki. Not sure how doable it is, or how much it would help.
Lumberjack fix suggestion: Jason Dayspring
Perhaps make it so that they only harvest tree's they plant, so that they don't have to look around. Maybe place a sign infront of every tree planted to use as a pathing marker. You could also have flavor text on the signs so they looked like they belonged in the village, and after every tree they chop, they immediatly plant another sapling in the same spot. Let each Lumberjack plant a certain number of trees, and not touch any other wood source. It would slow down village growth a bit, but require more player interaction, stop people complaining about their houses getting chopped down, and give the players a way to disable lumberjacks accumlating hundreds of stacks of wood by replacing the dirt that the tree is growing on with, say stone, and as long as they leave the sign, the lumberjack won't try and add any new growing spots. But if the sign is destroyed, then he'll find a new spot and forget the old spot. That way if a building is placed there it won't cause any problems.

"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do." - Robert Heinlein
Nice Idea for the lumberman.
For a joke:
I can just read the text of the signs my lumbermen are placing:
"Keep your dirty hands of MY TREE!"
(I keep following them and crashing down their trees to get my wood in a cheaper way.)
Or, "No public urination." "Stop smashing my signs." "New Soylent Tripe: Don't Ask" "Notch Wasn't Here." "Trade offer: I've got wood for sheep." "Chapel Picnic 12:00 Saturday, Boys Welcome:
^^
Edit: Kinniken could make then pick a random short line from a text file for every sign, so people could write their own and pass them around.

For really simple Walls or for people using full flatish areas the high doesn't count into the calculation at all. For them it's just simple "building extension" on "building extension" on "building extension" ... ;-)
So cheer up, if he implements anchors, it's possible to at least have some form of custom building walls even if it's not perfect and not all around your city.
For real Walls Kinniken could try to use Player Information ... FE: Player Wall Markers. The player would have to provide the information the villagers need to build a Wall around. player places brick blocks on a line 1 high around the village which represents the bottom most block of the wall and they just build along this their "Wall". Maybe Obsidian Blocks for Tower Markers between those Brick ones. But this is as Kinniken said hard to write into the code and only useable for the wall :/ rather pricy for just one "building".
I don't know Kinnikens code for Millenaire but maybe it's possible to recycle the map code to determine where "artifical blocks" are placed to find these Obsidian and Brick Blocks.
To determine that these are to be walls: found ones have to be more than 30 Blocks away from maire and 1 neighboring dirt/grass block. Lets hope no player tries placing brick buildings with brick as their ground level (Layer -1) next to grass or dirt. ;-)
I reckon if it is possible for it to be done by the player marking it out then that would be kinda cool because that means players have more chance to interact with construction.
If it could work and someone put a brick or some other marker in the town I would find that rather amusing hehe, be hell of a lot of complaints though xD
But at the end of the day it's not worth it just to make one building accessible, we could always go and build a wall ourselves instead of relying on our villagers to do everything lol
Wow,simply amazing. You come out with an update(with content not just bug fixes) every two days! How do you do it so fast?!
I have seen the name "Kinniken" on other forums, where this person also was french. The thing is that, the person on the other forums were a girl (or according to the date of the posts of that forum, a woman).. Hope that explains it for you :wink.gif:
Ps. For those (boys) out there who doesn't know what I mean: Girls are a lot more structured than guys, have 40% more brain activity than us guys (although the size of the brain is smaller), have more disiplin than us guys, etc. etc. etc. etc.
I could go on for hours, but to keep myself from getting hate-spammed by male-patriotic guys, I'll let you figure it out yourselves :wink.gif:
And if you can't figure it out, your'e either:
1. 13 years old
2. Dumb
3. Too much of a guy

But thts not completly true..sure girls are more "structured" than guys but come-on 40% more brain activity thats bs..
Sand is WAY better then a diamond sword. What's better than diamond? Nothing.
But sand is better than nothing, right? Diamond < Nothing < Sand. Thusly, sand is better than a diamond sword.

It's data from a research done in Germany/UK/USA, it was on one of the Discovery channels two days ago.
I guess that the deign of women will be what goes on into the new -homo.. Neanderthals was the -homo of men, Homo Sapiens is where everything about mankind is turned, and the next -homo stage of human is the stage of female domination.
I'm a guy myself, and no feminist (yes there are those), but it seems that men will be extinct in some thousand years :tongue.gif:
The scientists pointed out that the only reason that men aren't extinct yet, is because the female body haven't found out a way to reproduce themselves.
The next age of mankind will be "The Age of shemales" apparently :tongue.gif:
Thats not the point Riader.
A lot of these buildings could be planted in a better way ourselfes.
The fun of Millenaire is Watching them building up their city and think how much fun it would be if you can see them build up a small dirt city, expand to wood buildings, start placing woodplank walls around their city, expand these walls in hight and change to cobblestone walls. Expand Walls to towers and the like.
Sure placing it yourself is always possible. But the same is true for all custom buildings, which have no true meaning for the villagers. Fountains and the likes for example. The fun is watch them building and develop it in a random order.
I wouldn't want control over what they build or where they build but in the case of walls it seems they need some player help. This players help would decrease the amount of code needed for something like walls drastically to a point where MAYBE it's even possible. Without player help? I don't really want to think about the code necessary to decide where to build in which high which wallsections. A nightmare. The players help would change these "heigth and where calculations" to: find markers and build on top.
Oh no I agree with you there, I've always been a fan of simulation games and this is almost like them - I love watching them build their villages, it's great!
It's just at the end of the day if there is one construction that is an issue to implement then there's not much that can be done, you have to build it yourself or at the least assist in the construction.
