I think a nice goal would be diplomacy. Also showing there happiness with you kinda like Fallout: New Vegas.
I have been thinking of the first (if you mean toward the player). The second would indeed be cool, I'll have to define "happiness" though.

I'd hate to seem like I'm telling you what to do, but maybe the addition of a "Barracks" building would be great.
For example, it would contain a few "soldiers" that would kill nearby hostile mobs (and you, if you attack), and where you could also buy armor and weapons.
That's an other good idea. I'll want to limit the number of NPCs in a given village though, mostly for performance reasons.

So, I'm confused.. Both files say for me to put them in the Minecraft .jar folder..
I did, and it won't load for me.
I tried making a new world and it makes it 1/4th of the way, then MineCraft closes.

Yepp, I'm running ML 5, More Ores, Planes V4, Audio Mod, TooManyItems, and I think thats it, no problems, Did you start a fresh jar? cuz i don't think you can place V5 over V4
I have always loved mods with towns and such and would love to support you with the making of this mod. I plan on making some video of it, but if you need anything else don't hesitate to message me.
Yep ML5 compatable too. I think all i know is it works for me and i have ML5 installed.
Edit: is there any way to trade faster with the npcs? like trade 5 glass with one click? its annoying when your trading 1k blocks to them
Also if you ment for deaners (money) to stack for more than 100, your kinda sucsessful. they will stack to 100, but when you try to move them they move into a stack of 64 and a stack of 36
Last: i belive you were considering soldiers? my town desperatly needs them b/c the mo' creatures (lions and stuff) devour the helpless workers
