I agree. gunpowder is too expensive, but dye is pretty expensive too. Maybe you could make it so dyes work more like fuel? I don't know, it just makes it sound pretty hard to make big celebrations. It doesn't matter much though.
What about using a dye when crafting the block, the dye will determine the color. Then use redstone powder as fuel, I think everyone has tons of the stuff lying around.
Yes, that would be a good idea, but then every other version of the recipy would create another block with it's own block ID. I would rather have it to use as little blocks as possible (1 in fact), otherwise it would either be less compatible with other mods, or more dependant on other mods (moreBlockID's or something).
An other way would be to create different items, which can be put inside the block... That may be possible. Hm, I must think about that.
A lot of different block IDs could be troublesome. Is it possible to have two crafting slots in the firework block. One could be color which doesn't get used up, the other slot fuel.
I also think those giant willow shots should be more expensive, maybe they should need gunpowder. If you're feeling really productive you could also make more types, like a for example. Can't wait to see what you make of it :smile.gif:
Also a question, how is the height of the explosion determined?
You sir, are a genius. As soon as 1.4 is released, I will update my mod to be compatible and add the Crossette. And I also like your idea of colors not being used, only fuel. So thank you very much for these tips.
Yesterday I had another idea. Since most of you want the fireworks to be more like this or that, I'm creating a seperate version of my mod, that only has one type of fireworks. BUT it has an external properties file, in which you can specify a lot of variables to change the explosion size, height (which is a combination of speed and age), colors and maybe even shape. If you find cool combinations of numbers, you can share them and they will be implemented into the real mod.
However, this is hard since I've never done this before and I'm actually quite busy with school and stuff. So that will probably take some time.

SMP support??
No, and I don't think that will be added, however cool that would be. Unless I suddenly become a Java genius.
i found something that makes the fireworks mod not work, the block id for it is 95, thats the same blockid as the lumberjack chest from minecolony v.41 and since im not 100% sure how to change the id myself, im screwed and cant use fireworks, oh well.
also on a side note, i think u should leave it as infinite amount of fireworks but add a rightclick gui to pick the firework and its color, id like to set up a hugee fireworks display with a "grand finale" at the end hehe, but since i cant be completely sure ill get the "willow" fireworks when i need them, its not feasable ohwell nice mod even though i cant use it

Instead of just using a block as the whole fireworks mod you could make a firework item made from gunpowder and dye. You would then place the fireworks in the launcher (your block). This would allow you to customise the colour and also shape of the explosion by having different crafting patterns for firework items. It's then up to you as to how many fireworks you get from the gunpowder and dye.
awesome mod, but I think the shots should be custom loaded like a dispenser
each trigger could activate the next block in the boxes inventory, and you could possibly make each shot with gunpowder and a color ore, like
where iron could be the container for each shot. Maybe use 2 gunpowder for larger explosions, or different orientations for different types of shots.
could be cool to do one like

I've come here to give my thoughts!! :biggrin.gif: Although this may have already been expressed here it goes!
If you were to combine Flint with different dyes you could make the head of a rocket, which would determine the color that exploded (could even be up to a 2 tone color). These would be crafted with flint and dyes.
Your next section would be two sticks and gunpowder/redstone/lightstone/tnt block. These different sources could determine the height. Your middle of your rocket would then be either gray/red/yellow/(red/yellow) for tnt.
Finally one stick at the bottom to make the post.
There are also mortar fireworks that are just balls. You could craft one of those special flints, and then surround with either wool or wood and put the flint in the middle and gunpowder/etc on the bottom block. That could be a bigger explosion or something :smile.gif:.

Hmm, I have to change the block ID then, anyone knows where to find a list of used block ID's? Maybe I'll just use the More Block ID's mod.

Glad to help Mysticyx! :smile.gif:
I've also made a video for my mod showcase channel which has just reached a 1000 subscribers :smile.gif:
Amazing mod, those fireworks are so beautiful!
Cool, thanks!

I love this mod and I have little idea how this can be better.
Instead of dyes, use graphical gui on that box.
Here is Gui example.
Yes, those functions will be added, but not as a graphical UI, because I feel this doesn't fit with the minecraft theme. I will however, add them to the experimental version of this mod, which will have an external properties file. Read more in an earlier post.

hey just wondering if you could make this modloader V4 compatible in a future update
Maybe it already is? Have you tried? I heard of some mods being compatible with both. I've never used V4, so I wouln't know. Unless a LOT of people want this, I'd rather just use higher numbers. So probably not, sorry.

are u planing to update it because i really want this mod
Within a week after the dependencies (Modloader V5 and Minecraft Coder Pack) have been updated, I will update it. Update = update, so I will also add new stuff. Nobody wants old stuff.

Have you thought about changing the sounds?
I would love to have real firework sounds.
And btw I know that it reads not finished so that was why i asked.
Yes, the sounds will change in the near future. Read the entire thread if you want to know more.

Just thoughts! Pretty sweet mod though.
A lot of people seem to like fireworks items. I guess I will add this then, but currently it's not a priority. Maybe I'll put up a poll soon. And also one for the crafting recipes.
All questions answered? You can also send me an email if you want to know more or have some great tips. My email is fireworksmod at that thing from google. Try to use proper English, I know my English isn't perfect, but I try.

= Paper (For the shell)
= Any dye color you want
I think that this would make it realistic. Though it could be a pain. I think that getting multiple fireworks out of it would make it a little easier.
It is not the weapon that makes the warrior, but the warrior that makes the weapon.
