LOL you guys are right. The file in the 16_default_textures folder was actually one for 256 textures.
I kept checking the source for errors ... it didnt occur to me to check the files i distribute.
Good to know that my thrashing about (rather cluelessly) inside the decompiler gave you something worthwhile in terms of fixing it for everyone. I can happily confirm that it is indeed now working for me.
Good luck working out those modded block IDs for SMP.
xD lololololol im did just founded diamond 8 but the comppas did not apointted the diamond and mi was on the same point as the diamond lol same form thanks for im wanted to see a dungeon with the compass
Works great. More foresight than request, but I think the ultimate version with this would have the diamond and dungeon needles be two presets of a set of needles for the compass, each with a customizable blockid to search for, a changeable color, and a variable scan distance, all settable with Lahwran's GUIapi.
I'm happy with this as it is now, but the idea above should satisfy everyone wanting you to make it look for things like iron and such.
I can't seem to get the mod to work... Does it require a new world? I have plenty of other mods working, I have no clue why this one isn't.
At first, this was what I thought but I went into my cave system and wandered everywhere until a green arrow appeared (Dungeon). I scrambled towards where it was pointing, and a blue arrow appeared (Diamond). Just wander around underground, eventually you'll get it unless you didn't install it correctly.
Anyways, it's an awesome mod.
"I saw a sparkle, in the dark. I put my Axe right through that mark, at last I'd found, me some diamonds"
So what texture would the original texture fall under?

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff"
I am really frustrated about the rarity of these ores. It turns out I find diamond WAY more often than these. Gold and lapis are my main struggles. Mostly gold, however.
If this could be used to find iron/gold/redstone, this would become probably the best utility of all time.
Think you could include those? The reason is because some mods like IndustrialCraft/SDK's Guns are heavy-demanding on the iron factor, and it can be a little hard-pressing to find it sometimes.
Updated with the possibility to add your own block ID's and needle colors. Diamond and Mob Spawners are enabled by default. You can add as many needles as you want, but the lower your textures, the more mashed up your compass will look.
Hey, i downloaded the mod and downloaded modloader. i copied and pasted everything from modloader onto the minecraft file through winrar and transfered it to the minecraft1.3_01 because i didnt know which one so i just did both . I then transfered "findercompass.cfg" and "blockcoord.class" into the same file. I then transfered the file from 16_default textures in scanrange 7 and i tried the same thing with scanrange 15. I transfered the scanrange 7 first and seen it didnt work so i tried the scanrange 15 and still nothing. I know its not working because im standng beside un ored diamond. Anyone have any suggestions or see that i did something wrong? thanks for the help !!!
slightly off-tangent, in the two videos you posted in your OP back on page 1, what texture pack are you using? Looks very nice, both the stone textures and the torches. Would like to check it out.
Reminds me a bit of Prince of Persia where things are kind of outlined and atmospheric.
Could you make this so you can customize what block it points toward? I.E. I need lapis lazuli for something I'm working on. I set something, I find lapis lazuli!

What is the scan range of things in the config? Are all the things in the config found within the four-block "level" where we stand, or are they wired up like the dungeon finder needle (where they lock up/down based on above/below)?

Search for monster spawners
Guile theme would fit it.
