this is really wierd but, i got it to work ONLY after i installed zombe's mods and turned on "cart control".
it didnt even work on a fresh bin with no other mods and no texture pack... still crashed at "building terrain" screen.
so, my only advice to those having trouble is to try to install zombe's mod pack first (cart control is totally worth it, and you can pick and choose what mods you want on. or you could keep them all off and theoretically, finder compass will work then) try it, it worked for me. :smile.gif:
Ok, I have a problem.
I installed the mod like in the tutorial but I get a crash at the end of loading a world at the "Building Terrain" stage.
It freezes for a couple of seconds and then it exits.
I am using 1.3_01.
Any help please?
same happens with me whats hav we done wrong? i put the blockcooord class in changed the ai to 16 compatible
is the deafult 16 texture pack i dont understand! =
I'm having help with the findercompass. i want to use the findercompass along with Dr.Zhark's Mo' Creature mod, but I can't tell what number class the texture pack falls in. I could really use some help. I did find pgns that were 62, 61, 60, 43, and 30. Do those numbers help decide which aiclass to put in?

(hah) A compass? That is so amazing. It actually seems like an object that would be in the game by default. I love this concept, thank you so much. ^.^
I've made a temporally fix to the "crash after building world" bug.
I just added a try-catch statement around the content of the onTick function by using MCP.
This does only fix the default texture(16x16), search distance 7 and 15.
Hey I finally got mine working(had to delete that metaINF folder inside the minecraft bin file) but the compass doesn't point north anymore.... it is pointing west with the red needle and I suspect the pointer is off for the nearby items too (which i tested a few and it was off, in comparison to other pin point mods let alone having it right infront of me and doing the wrong direction).... :sad.gif: any idea why?
Also to everyone else make sure you have that CFG file in the .minecraft folder and remove the // infront of the number not the "- (mineral)"
The number defines the mineral and color that will be shown on the compass

I tried this fix but the problem persists.
I tried to get it working in both 7 and 15 for 16, 128 and 256 each without success.
Did a clean minecraft.jar reinstall and installed it correctly.
(removed META-INF, inserted ai.class and BlockCoord.class into minecraft.jar)
Seems an awesome mod, but I just can't get it to work :sad.gif:
Strange x)
it fixed mine ^^
I guess we'll just have to wait for him to repair it then...
After the fix, I could start the game but the compass only shows the spawn point.
Good mod, but I have no luck making it work.
maybe you're just not by anything... try walking around a bit and a mob spawner should pop up. or go down below the 16th layer and diamonds will start appearing.

For effs sake stop spreading your dumbsense. If you had any understanding of how this works whatsoever you'd know you could not possibly fix one mod by installing another with different class files.
Nothing is broken. This works fine if you manage to follow the instructions.

uummmmm... i know for a FACT that i installed it correctly/ followed the instuctions, dozens of times, and i was crashing at the loading screen STILL. so, dont jump to conclusions and figure we all are just "not following the instructions". to be honest, i dont know what the cause of the crashing was (my computer, ur mod, whatever) but after i installed another mod (zombe's) it worked. sooo..... ya.
anyway, its a great mod! (when i can get it to work) and thank you for it.
Then stop guessing. Guessing only creates confusion. Your uneducated guesses even more so. Check the link on "How to get a crash report", do that (if you are able) and give me actual error messages.
I'd almost bet a penny you will either fail at doing so too, or upon seeing the error message facepalm really hard, fix your stupid mistake, and stop posting here.

The first one. Minecraft couldn't care less for words, it wants Block IDs.
but shouldn't you add a signature image for making this a bit more famous?

Doesn't explain why its is a bit off for the metals ans other stuff.

To bad, my older computers show all my items black. So I can't really see the compass by hand. :S
Still, this is so awesome. ^.^
