Your friendly neighborhood Kingpin here...
Thanks for the update, Kolt. This was one of the first mods that significantly raised the atmosphere for me. Nicely done. Downloading now.
Oh my god.
After leaving everything on the default settings, I decided to explore a world filled with a ton of ruins, both default and added, right?
Well, whoever made the flaming skull house:
I both congratulate you GREATLY, and curse you. I'm fighting my way through it as we speak, and my god, this is scary. I have so many arrows and NO BOW, either. Just some iron, a diamond, and what I've gained while exploring other ruins.
Once I conquer this place, however, I'm making it my home.
Edit:
WHAT. WHAT. WHAT.
I just saw a creeper walk through a wall.
I hope it was just the angle, and there's a passageway there, instead.
Edit, again:
I... I think I just defeated it.
Oh my god. Again.
That was amazing. Whoever created that, you have all of my respect.
It's no longer updated by the creator (thus the out of date thread subject), but has enough fans that it is still being updated. I don't have coding experience, but once the current wave of bug-fixes is for Minecraft is done, it is likely that Ruins will be updated by someone.
I recommend that whoever updates it (if no one else does I'll likely try to stumble my way through the process) Creates a new thread so that we can keep the version/compatibility info in the subject line up to date, and so we can have the download/creator and updater credits on the first page.
This is one of the few non-core mods that I have invested much time in. It is quite good.
Should this have happened?
I installed Ruins and wandered away from my spawn point for a while. Got back the next day and these 2 ruins in the foreground had appeared! It was in an existing world.

You can take a stab at trying to use it despite it not being updated.

A suggestion though, add some cobblestone roads/stairs between buildings, give it a more civilization feel when you expand upon it.
What texture pack is that? It looks cool.
