This attempts to revert spawning back to the way it was before 1.8. Animals will be 400 times more likely to spawn in old chunks, and will also despawn.
I have also reenabled animal spawning in ocean biomes, so that your survival island maps will be less lonely.
Two mods in one, both compatible with differing interpretations of the mod's name:
1. To make the game easier, inject both .class files into %appdata%/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar (be sure to back it up first!). This prevents you from dropping your items when you die, and you will still have those items when you respawn. Note that if you had anything in your crafting space, they would still be dropped. Great for those who want the challenge of fighting off mobs, but are skittish about losing items to lava and/or a bad sense of direction.
2. To make the game harder, inject only sz.class into minecraft.jar. This also prevents you from dropping your items when you die, but when you respawn, they'll be gone. Any items in your crafting space would still be dropped.
Negates explosion damage from creepers and ghasts to landscape and building blocks (explosions from TNT are still normal). Explosions will still hurt the player and mobs. Great for those who want to fight creepers, but hate to see their buildings damaged and landscape scarred.
v3 update: Ghast fireballs now no longer damage blocks or create fire.
To install: Inject the .class into %appdata%/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar (be sure to back it up first!).

I actually kinda agree; but the edit is simpler this way, so I wanted to do that for my first mods. Perhaps I or someone else could work on an upgrade.
edit: The edit to make only creepers have this behavior is actually simpler than I thought. I'll upload an updated version once I test it.
just to clarify, the item drop mod doesn't work on SMP right? since inventory is server-side i assume it doesn't
You're probably right. I'm not familiar with SMP, so I'm not sure how to mod for it; but if I did adapt it to SMP it might be useful for friendly / "carebear" servers? *shrugs*
Aww. The item drop mod isn't compatible with Zombe's flying mod. And it crashes when I die. I really wanted it. D: Can you try to make it compatible? :biggrin.gif:

I just tried No Mob Explosion Block Damage v2. Used SPC to spawn a few creepers and ghasts to test it out. There is no block damage with creepers but ghast fireballs still blow up blocks (both in the nether and in the regular world). Any way you can fix this with a v3? TIA.

Are you... are you spying me? D: Cause that redstone obsidian and fences mod has the exact 3 things I've been looking for.
The redstone was bugging me since forever, and the obsidian thing, though I've seen it before, I couldn't find it later when I was actually looking for it.
And the fences, I'm constantly going "Notch needs to add a certain tool to break this damn things" when I'm in an abandoned mineshaft lol, and even when I'm just using fences for some other reason.
Also it's funny cause I found this while actually looking for something to make creepers not break my blocks, and found a lot more than that! :biggrin.gif:

By the way, do you think the mob spawning mod would cause some kinda conflict with mods that add extra mobs? Since the 1.8 most mob-adding mods seem to work weird xD

As long as the class files edited with the mod aren't the same as those edited by those other mods, it's likely safe to use them both.
Personally I think (but can't guarantee) that it would also fix spawning for mod mobs.

This mod makes mining redstone ore and obsidian faster. Redstone ore now takes the same time as gold/diamond ore, and obsidian mining time is halved.
Additionally, using an axe against fences or fence gates will make them break faster. This is especially useful when exploring abandoned mineshafts.

It decompiles and deobfuscates the Minecraft Java files for easier editing. Java programming knowledge is required.
