okay nevermind the complaint I posted earlier
the mod didn't seem to work, as it was very dim compared to regular torches and I didn't notice it was actually working
Awww yes! This is just what minecraft needs. I love the throwing a torch into a dark area /down a mineshaft to see what's there. Plus now some realism to torches in all states other than placed. I will get this mod next opportunity I can.
Looks kinda cool, but when i switched to my torch, the game freezed...
And then crashed?
I even deleted the meta inf folder :/
But anyway, u sir won the internet
Included merged files:
Optimine 1.3_01v2 ml5
More Block IDs 1.3_01 r10
Single Player Commands V2.4
Daylight Savings 1.3_01
Darker Nights v1.1
Does this mean these mods are also installed? Or only small modifications that don't make me have to read about them? I have SP commands installed but I don't think I need daylight savings or darker nights, I already have Zombe for that.
Cheers
If you have the conflicting mod installed, then you copy the merged files for that mod over the existing files.
Question though, is there anyway to make a toggle so I can turn this on and off?
Single player this works flawless. Multiplayer? Lag like no tomorrow.
Gets really old changing the .jar.
And so you want me to overcome my lazyness so you don't have to overcome yours?!
Very well. I've added a new folder to the .zip, "keytoggle_optional". If you wish to turn Dynamic Lights on/off on the fly you need to
a) Install Modloader v5
:cool.gif: Install the mod_dynamiclights.class file found in that exact folder
c) Make sure you use the latest PlayerTorchArray.class from the "compiled" folder
The key is "L"
You, sir, are the greatest. :ohmy.gif:
EDIT: Found one flaw, not really important but just letting you know. If your chatting and hit "L" it will turn it on. Sucks when its daytime and that happens cause you dont know. (Would it be easier to add a "Dynamic Lights turned on" message instead of making the "L" not toggle when the chat is open or is both rather the same level of difficulty to do? That or just leave it. Can deal with it as is.. but I know most may rage like idiots.)
Works really well though, if your walking and your lagging just hit "L" and you will get yourself a more stable FPS without needing to get log out of MC. :biggrin.gif:
Really noob question, but how do I put the downloaded files into the jar file? I opened it with 7-zip and deleted the meta inf folder, but I can't copy anything into it. I tried clicking and dragging and the big green plus symbol but that says the operation is not allowed.
Nevermind, turns out 7-zip just sucks and winrar did it fine
Deleted .minecraft to get this mod to work but I'm still having problems. I deleted META-INF, I put all the class files into the minecraft file including minecraft.class and every time I switch to a torch in my inventory my game crashes and I can't tell you what the crash says because its just closes itself instantly. I have no other mods installed nor texture packs. I have Windows Vista. PLEASE HELP!
There's a helpful link in the first page on "How to get a crash report". Doing so will enable you to find out what you did wrong. Which you did, trust me.
Yeah but I can't do any of that because like I said, it closes itself instantly without me being able to read it!
Requesting a merge with the FM DebugMod. I've already sent you a PM with the details and download link for the source file, whenever you get around to it. Thanks.

FM DebugMod 1.2.5v1 - Fixes problems with F3 debugging graphs, restores entity labels, and strips down debug info (updated 2012-04-04)
just a little suggestion:
if it can remember the last state, it will be awesome!
ie. if the mod was turned off this time, next time you start minecraft again, it remains off, same for on. :biggrin.gif:

I know that it might get a little involved, but this mod would be even more helpful if you could dual wield a torch and a tool at the cost of some of the power of the tool (e.g. a pick axe mines 15% slower or a sword takes an extra hit to kill)

There is a separate dual wield mod done by peronix, unfortunately though it conflicts with this one. (I found that out the hard way. D:)
This is a great mod, but I found a bug or two. In multiplayer, if you are chatting and you have the toggleable version on, it toggles it when you press L in chat - it gets kind of annoying have to retoggle it after you chat every time. A suggestion might be changing it to a key other then L? Maybe the ` or one of the F1-12 buttons? Great work with this mod :biggrin.gif:
I must say thanks for sharing your source code, it made my compatibility work easier :biggrin.gif:
Also, this is a wonderful mod, I don't know why I didn't notice it before (was only using Handheld Torches :|)
They would need the mod to see your light. But you can see theirs, whether or not they have the mod

EDIT: It just says "Done Loading" then freezes?
EDIT2: Nvm lol does it work with TFC Mod manager

Loving yer mod even more now. :wink.gif:
I just wish I could use optimine with HD fonts via McPatcher, but it breaks them.

Your L pressing finger looks fine to me
