um, excuse me, but, does this mod work with modded items? I'm trying to make the Iron Man chest plates from Superheroes Unlimited light up (the suits are 3d modelled, if that may be a problem), but I can't seem to get it to work, what do I do?
Hello, just saying this beforehand. I am extremely sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but if so, could you please direct me to the page? I wish I had the time to look through all 175 pages :P, so if this is the case, sorry for wasting your time.
Anyways, the issue I have been having is that whenever I delete CLASS files from the modules folder, my game crashes. However, when I keep all of the files intact, everything works fine. I tried deleting all of the .class files I didn't want (basically everything except for the floodlights, self light source, other player light sources, and dropped items) to save FPS, but when doing so, it crashed Minecraft. I read through the report, and it said that there was an error in loading the mod. I've been trying it with the mods Damage Indicators, Worldedit, Mo' Creatures, Custom Mob Spawners (for Mo' Creatures)' Treecapitator, bspkrsCore (for Treecapitator), and your Update Checker. As I said before, originally everything worked fine. If you could please help me, that would be great. I have no problem using the entire mod, except that it gets rather laggy at times. Thanks :).

I would guess this is an Optifine side effect. I believe he introduced his own "torchlight" recently.
Actually it was happening even without Optifine. I was using an old version anyway
But I have since switched to latest Optifine, so it's time to say goodbye to Dynamic Lights I suppose. I am sure you wouldn't care much for updating the 1.7.10 version anyway heh. It would be some conflict I just don't know what. Thanks for the good times, AtomicStryker!
If i was going to optimize (no) i'd do even more than this. As far i recall only the light emitting block actually has a value of 15 ... the neighbors have 14, one further removed 13 and so on. But 15 to 12 or something are visually indistinguishable from each other, so it should abort where vanilla light is anywhere above 12 (value might not be accurate).

latest Optifine has it's own Dynamic Light now which can be Fancy (real time) and Fast (every 500 ms or something like that) > Is it related to yours or did they just copy yours?
Maintaining that map would probably cost more or equally much compared to brute forcing the teeny tiny list of light sources. We are talking about less than 10 for the casual user, 100 if you're really pushing it ... your CPU will ask "what loop"

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?

Getting a lot of framerate lag when holding a lava bucket for light in my hand. Other light sources don't seem to cause this problem. Anyone else have this issue? As soon as I deselect it or select a different item, the "lag" goes away.
I'm not using optifine now, but had the same problem when I was.
EDIT: This actually does seem to happen with anylight type used.

So I have a problem. Sometimes held items will just "turn off", and it comes back on as soon as I move.
I don't remember ever having this issue in the past.

There is a difference in light levels even between 13 and 14 (talking about the block/burn levels).
Sunlight, with no artificial light, I can tell the difference between 15 and 14 on stone.
It does depend on the brightness setting in-game, and your monitor.
