I was liking this mod alot at first, until I mined my second piece of Volatile Matter (I'm still loving the mod, though). As a tip to newbs: Volatile Matter can and will blow up commonly.
On another note, what is the spawn rate of rubies compared to diamonds?

Heh, I'm sure we've all died to Volatile Matter at least once. I love mining it just because it explodes. I miss the creeper spawning though.
As for rubies:
ruby_veins-per-chunk = 15
ruby_max-per-vein = 4
You can modify that and all other ores' spawn rates in the %appdata%\.minecraft\mods\MoreOres\Generation.properties file. And from the wiki:
Quote from minecraftwiki.net »
Below elevation 18, it occurs in roughly 0.08% of rock. This means that you must check 867 blocks below elevation 18 to have a 50% chance of finding at least one diamond ore.

I haven't died to Volatile matter yet (so what I mine it from as far back as possible with a wall in between us lol)
as to the creeper spawning...thats happened to me....three times since I started a new world with 0.6a version...so it's still around :smile.gif:
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
There are 10 kinds of people in this world; those that understand binary and those that don't.
UPDATE: The texture pack is about 25% complete.
Here's the idea, every block and most items have... A face. The faces heavily reflect the nature of the block (where they are found, their colors, how much light they are exposed to usually, etc) The texture pack adds another level to minecraft. The grass and dirt are really happy, the rock is cheerful, the bedrock is angry. (I will never look at bedrock the same again.) I'll get some screenshots up soon. I know it is a very strange concept, but I'll see how it turns out.
ITs notworking plz help.
I have Modloaderv5, More Block IDS, Property Reader and ToolUtils but i cant get the mod to work. Minecraft just crashes on me. plz help.
This mod looks so cool
Wooh, v0.6! Congrats on the dynamite release, my friend =D. Here's a Notch!
So, I believe you should work on sapphire next. I have a few ideas of what you can do with the gem!
First off, sapphires should be able to be cut using the following formula:
= Raw Sapphire
[] []
[] =
[] []
Cut sapphires should be able to be put on staffs by using the following formula:
= Cut Sapphire
[] []
[] []
[] []
This staff can be used to tame passive creatures (e.g. change their behavior to follow you) by right-clicking the creature while holding the staff. You can make them un-follow you by right clicking them again. This can be useful to people who are interested in making pig, cow, and sheep farms without having to hack in a mob spawner. Hitting a mob with the staff with a left stick will spawn another of those mobs in order to make!
Raw sapphire gems could also be crushed into sapphire powder (one gem for one powder), which can be added to food to increase its healing potency as well (this actually was done in medieval times as a remedy for sickness... so its not just a weird idea =P) using the following formula:
= sapphire powder
[] []
[] []
Just a few of my ideas. Again, great job on the update. Now finish up the next one! Haha just kidding.
or you could make a new item (hammer, knife)to cut and/or crush the gems...
to all you saying that you cant get it to work, please run the game with the debugger that ive just posted by the download link on the OP, thatll tell you if something is going wrong, then post the error log on here or pm it to me, otherwise i cant really help you at all :/

Hey, captain obvious here,
Just wondering with the volatile matter, does that stay one block, or can you actually smelt it into gold, crystal, etc?
no, volatile matter does not smelt and will not smelt, you must use it as a block (although in the future, i might have a super rare gem drop from it :ohmy.gif:)

What did I do wrong..
Btw you should work on a W7 Tutorial.
I apologize for this massive post, but I felt that a detailed installation(albeit only for Windows XP) and recipe guide would help some. I would make a video but Fraps won't record explorer windows in XP and everything else I've tried just stinks.
If there is any missing info or grammatical, spelling or factual errors feel free to point it out.
Mod compatibility:
More Ores IS COMPATIBLE with:
• ConvenientInventory
• TooManyItems
• Zan's minimap
• Arrows Mod
• CAF-mod for integrated graphics
• Humans+
• IndustrialCraft
• MADS
• Mo Creatures
• More Creeps and Weirdos
• More Stackables
• Optimine
• Recipe Book
• Sign Tags
• SDK's gun, grappling hook and utility mods(check for conflicts)
Orange text indicates that compatibility has not been confirmed for 0.6_03, but an earlier version.
How to install More Ores 0.6_03 on Windows XP SP3: (probably very similar for Windows 7)
These links will not work when the mod is updated from 0.6_03. The correct links should always be on the OP though.
If you get a blackscreen when loading the game: [*:3nha7ozz]Double check your mods' block ID lists. Conflicts can cause black screens.
[*:3nha7ozz]If you find two blocks which use the same ID, change one to an unused value.
[*:3nha7ozz]Update Java if an update is available. This is an uncommon but still possible problem.
[*:3nha7ozz]Try reinstalling the mods, and confirming that you started with a fresh, unmodded JAR file of the most recent version of Minecraft.
[*:3nha7ozz]If you do not have an unmodded JAR, download the newest launcher, run it, click Options and tell it to force an update.
If, after checking all of the above, you still get a blackscreen, download this debugger and run it.
Some important notes:
• This cannot be stressed enough: THE MOD IS STILL UNDERGOING DEVELOPMENT! Only some ores and items actually have uses so far!
• Don't ask for a modded JAR file. Modding is not that hard, and distribution of the JAR violates Minecraft's and the forum's TOS, even if you bought the game.
• If you have a world which you played with More Ores 0.5.3 or earlier, you will NOT be able to play it with 0.6 or later. You will have to start a new world. If you've never used More Ores before, there's a fair chance you can still use your current world. Ore generation is not retroactive however; you'll have to make Minecraft generate more landscape in order to find the new ores.
• Some helmet and chestplate recipes are upside down(may have been fixed in 0.6).
• You can adjust the blocks' IDs if they conflict with something else. Simply run the modded client and two files will appear in %appdata%\.minecraft\mods\MoreOres. Edit BlockIDs.properties as necessary. Additionally, you can change the spawn rate of specific ores via the Generation.properties file. Note that these files are not automatically assigned to Notepad, but Notepad can open them just fine. If you double-click the file it will prompt you to choose a program to open with. Also note that you will likely need to reload the Minecraft client for changes to take effect.
List of added ores:
• Amethyst - a purple gem. Has no use yet.
• Aquamarine - a blue gem. Can be used in a crown which makes your breath meter last much longer.
• Cinnabar - a red gem. Can be used with tin to make gunpowder.
• Citrine - a yellow-orange gem. Has no use yet.
• Copper - a brownish ore. Can be used to make tools and armor, or combined with tin to make bronze.
• Emerald - a green gem. Can be used to make tools.
• Fake-Emerald - a brighter green gem. Has no use yet.
• Graphite - a black ore. Has no use yet.
• Grass Stone - a green gem. Can be used with dirt to make grass.
• Jade - a green gem. Has no use yet.
• Lavastone - a yellow-to-red ore. It emits light equal to that of lava, can be used as a fuel which can smelt 25 items and can be used to make lava-pickaxes.
• Nano-Diamond - a light blue gem. The rarest and strongest gem, can be used to make very powerful tools and armor.
• Nether-Emerald - a green ore exclusive to the Nether. Can be used in a crowne which makes you immune to fire and lava.
• Nether-Gold - a gold ore exclusive to the Nether. Has no use yet.
• Netherite - a white ore exclusive to the Nether. Has no use yet.
• Onyx - a black gem. Has no use yet.
• Pierre - a pale yellow ore. Has no use yet.
• Platinum - a new ore which may or may not be available yet.
• Pyrite - a yellow ore. Has no use yet. Formerly cat-gold.
• Quartz - a new ore which may or may not be available yet.
• Ruby - a red gem. Can be used to craft ruby swords which are more powerful.
• Sapphire - a blue gem. Has no use yet.
• Scarlet Emerald - a red gem. Has no use yet.
• Silver - a silver ore. Has no use yet.
• Tin - a grayish ore. Can be used to make tools and armor, or combined with tin to make bronze.
• Titanium - a grayish ore. Can be used to make armor.
• Uranium - a green-grayish ore. Has no use yet.
• Volatile Matter - a volatile ore. When you mine it, it may turn into water or lava. It could even explode(you'll have time escape though) or spawn a creeper. Its appearance randomly shuffles through the official ores when blocks around it change. It can be used in ore mutation and a few other recipes.
List of added recipes:
represents Volatile Matter. This list is currently not up to date.
• Armor can be made with copper, tin, bronze, titanium and nano-diamond. Chestplate and helmet recipes may be upside down. Nano-diamond armor also requires Volatile matter in the bottom-middle slot, or the bottom-left for the helmet:
[]
[] []
• Blocks - some gems can be crafted into blocks the same way iron and gold can. These include amethyst, aquamarine, bronze, citrine, emerald, nano-diamond, onyx, ruby and sapphire.
• Bronze - placing tin above copper makes unfinished brozne, which can be smelted into bronze bars.
• Combo blocks - these blocks combine four of two types of gems into a single block(iron and gold don't actually work):
where represents one gem type and represents another. Valid combinations(top+bottom) are amethyst+onyx, nano-diamond+aquamarine, citrine+bronze, emerald+sapphire and scarlet-emerald+ruby.
• Crowns - first, make a crown base:
[]
then surround the crown with one type of gem:
[] []
[] []
Note that diamond can't actually be used this way; only some of the new gems can. Aquamarine crowns allow you to breathe underwater for a long time; nether-emerald crowns make you immune to fire and lava; onyx crowns make you immune to explosions. Other crowns have no function yet. Crowns also have durability and armor equivalent to a diamond helm.
• Grass - placing grass stone to the right of dirt makes grass. The icon will not display properly but the block should work fine.
• Gunpowder - placing cinnabar to the right of tin makes gunpowder.
• Iron poles - used as handles for emerald tools:
• Lava-pickaxes - for any pickaxe except nano-diamond( is Lavastone):
For a nano-diamond lava-pickaxe, put an already crafted nano-diamond pickaxe in the center of this grid:
[]
Lava-pickaxes have a 50% chance to smelt anything mined with them(ex. iron becomes an ingot).
• Ore mutations - Volatile Matter can be used to "mutate" ore. First, a list: stick, plank, wood, coal, iron, gold, diamond, nano-diamond.
[]
Using sticks as shown above will get you a plank. Replace the sticks with anything the above list except diamond and it will give you the next item in the list(ex. coal becomes iron). To turn diamond into nano-diamond:
[]
For reference, to make nano-diamond, you can use either 2 diamond, 4 gold, 8 iron, 16 coal, 32 wood, 64 planks or 128 sticks. The number of Volatile Matter required is one less than the material required(ex. 16 coal+15 VM).
Note that turning diamond into nano diamond will give you a block. You will have to place and mine it to get the gem itself.
• Redstone mutation - in addition to the above mutations, Volatile Matter can turn 3 dirt to 1 redstone:
• Ruby sword - placing rubies to both sides of a sword to make a ruby sword, which increases its strength. Ruby nano-diamond swords do an entire 10 hearts of damage, effectively one-shotting anything.
• Smelting - bronze, nethergold, netherite, silver and titanium must be smelted to be used. Unstable Uranium can be smelted into Refined Uranium, which lasts longer than lava as fuel.
• Tools(excluding hoes) can be made with copper, tin, bronze, emerald(must use iron poles instead of sticks) and nano-diamond(must use iron ingots instead of sticks). If you use Volatile Matter, you will randomly get a wood, stone, iron or diamond tool.
What are you thinking about doing in the next update (excluding the ore vote), what tweaks do you think are needed at the moment, Or are you waiting for the results of your vote to come in before really thinking about it?
To everyone, I apologize.
Once I reached about 50% completion of my texture pack, I realized there aren't enough different facial expressions in the world to complete this texture pack. (Not to mention more ores too.)
But never fear, I'm not giving up.
I'm looking for some ideas, any idea that pops into your head, pm it to me or post it on this thread.
Anything from a highly educated idea (such as steampunk, I reckon that was an awesome idea) to just a fun idea that you may have.

Ill be doin some stuff with whatever gem wins :tongue.gif: also Im adding in some gui stuff with the settings/gui api, so that yall will be able to change the spawn rates even easier (in-game in the options menu), ill also be adding some new spawning options, like only having ores spawn or only having the gems spawn, a global increase or decrease in spawning, and i might even throw in some difficulty levels for volatile matter :smile.gif:

These links will not work when the mod is updated from 0.6_03. The correct links should always be on the OP though.
Begin by downloading all the required mods:
ModLoader
GUI API
More Ores from DropBox
More Ores from MediaFire
[*:3nha7ozz]Download one of the More Ores links and its two requirements(above).
[*:3nha7ozz]Extract each of the downloaded folders by right-clicking, then selecting Extract All.
Optional: back up your JAR by copying it to another location.
[*:3nha7ozz]Locate your Minecraft JAR. Go to Start Menu and select Run. Then type %appdata%/.minecraft/bin and press enter.
[*:3nha7ozz]Open the JAR with an archive editor, preferably WinRAR; some people have had trouble with 7zip.
[*:3nha7ozz]Delete the META-INF folder. Minecraft will blackscreen if you don't delete it.
[*:3nha7ozz]Copy the contents of the ModLoader folder.
[*:3nha7ozz]Paste the files into the JAR. Allow it to replace files if it asks.
[*:3nha7ozz]Copy and paste ALL of the files AND folders from the GuiAPI folder.
[*:3nha7ozz]Copy and paste the class files AND the two folders from More Ores v0.6_04\ More Ores v0.6_04 (1.5_01).
You're now ready to play, unless you want to install an alternate texture pack instead. If so:
[*:3nha7ozz]Download the alternate texture you wish to use:
SnowyOmen's textures
BAMitsBRAD's textures
Wreckage's textures (This is a 32x32 pack which may work differently)
[*:3nha7ozz]Copy the "textures" folder from the download into the JAR, replacing as needed. If any files with the names cinnober, marineore, greenore or catgold exist, rename them to cinnabar, sapphire, jade and pyrite, respectively.
If you get a blackscreen when loading the game:
[*:3nha7ozz]Double check your mods' block ID lists.
When it returns an error, right-click it, click Select All and press Enter. Open the thread of whichever mod you believe is causing the problem, and paste the error inside code tags.
Once I reached about 50% completion of my texture pack, I realized there aren't enough different facial expressions in the world to complete this texture pack. (Not to mention more ores too.)
But never fear, I'm not giving up.
I'm looking for some ideas, any idea that pops into your head, pm it to me or post it on this thread.
Anything from a highly educated idea (such as steampunk, I reckon that was an awesome idea) to just a fun idea that you may have.
Keep in mind I prefer 16x16 texture packs.
Kbai!
couldnt tell you, the error is with SDK's mod not mine
not a problem with my mod, you seem to be missing a class called oi which is one of the original classes, as my mod doesnt touch original classes at all, i highly doubt this is a problem with my mod
thank you very much! I will add a tutorial for how to install for windows in the near future, but I will link this in the OP :smile.gif:
Ill be doin some stuff with whatever gem wins :tongue.gif: also Im adding in some gui stuff with the settings/gui api, so that yall will be able to change the spawn rates even easier (in-game in the options menu), ill also be adding some new spawning options, like only having ores spawn or only having the gems spawn, a global increase or decrease in spawning, and i might even throw in some difficulty levels for volatile matter :smile.gif:
:ohmy.gif: ill look into that and fix it for the next version :/
here ya go :wink.gif:

Okay then, do textures for More Ores in the style of the Painterly Pack and you can have all 9001 of my babies.
