My first thought upon seeing the title was: Oh no, not another paxel!
I was pleasantly surprised to see I was wrong.
This is a nifty little tool indeed.
yea, i was originally wanting something that doesnt take up 2 inventory spots but has a compass and watch combined into one. eventually i was getting pissed that i'd explore a huge cave and get so lost i wouldnt even know what height level i was at. the distance meter was just an idea since i'd go REALLY far away from my base and would be like, ffffffffffffffff where am i, that hookshot launched me way too far.
Okay, I think I came up with something to add, anyone who has some legit input on my idea please share. I saw this mod viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=205607 and I thought to myself, that is so damn smart. So, as long as I can get the permission of that mods author, I'd like to implement something like that in the compass section of my multitool. What it'd do is scan for ores like his does except it will point to whatever the highest tier of ore found is. diamond > lapis lazuli > gold > iron > coal. A new pointer will appear on the compass which will obviously point to the found ore. the background of the height meter will also slowly and not too intensly pulse a color coded to roughly match the ore. light blue=diamond, deep blue=lapis lazuli, yellow=diamond, light grey=iron, dark grey = coal. If i make this i'll also implement the settings API so you can toggle on and off any of the ores and make it so it'll only search for a single ore. say you want just straight up iron and no gold, redstone, diamond, etc. it'll be possible by turning off searching for those. it'll also allow you to change the distance the spawn distance meter will read, the pulse speed of the flashes, etc.
Maybe also an enemy detector that flashes +1x per second for every enemy within a certain distance. like have a little dot on it that does this. God, it really is turning into a multitool. lets see what all we can pack into it without it being obnoxious lol.
I would if you can propose a method for me to incorporate it that allows it to include everything else so it stays a MULTITOOL. otherwise its a flat out sorry bout ya.
tbh i like the accuracy of a number indicator instead of a dial. that's a large reason i did it like this. i use it for building since you can figure out exactly where you are. i'm not aiming for aesthetic appeal in the least. I'm aiming for functionality and ease of use. both of which it is. I understand where you're coming from in wanting it to look more Minecrafty, i myself felt the same way at first. but i went with which one suited my needs better and was easier to use. something else, the watch is already difficult enough to read at 16x res and it's full size. imagine if we had the height meter be a dial which would have to be shrunk because of all the rest of the stuff there. it'd be ridiculously hard to read and grossly inaccurate.
