Have you seen this mod? You might see if you could work something out? Most of the same things you have are already implemented. Anyways just a thought :biggrin.gif:. Good luck either way more ore is good. Looking for gold and diamonds gets old :tongue.gif:.
I think all of these would make the game to complex, and even though you made uses, alot of them might end of like Gold, kind of pointless. But I think Copper/Tin/Steel then maybe one of the rare ores should be added. Maybe make an Ore rarer then Diamond? Just to be the kind of "Insane Impossible Ore" or something (Which alot of new people treat Diamond like it is :/)
Edit: Actully if I think about it, you could add alot of these in but as locations, like Emeral is common to find under...sand. (Just an example). And some of these could possibliy be found in the Nether to make a purpose for going there. (Even though none of them are ores like that, but it can't hurt right?)
The start idea is awesome (more ores / more materials) but it is:
A) Too many. If you focus one only 1 or 2 ores, you can make better picture, bigger and more detailed ideas for them. I mean really a
"x x x
x - x
That should resemble a crafting bench? It is not that complicated to photoshop some screenshots, or even do it with paint..
:cool.gif: All the same. You have like 4 ores that are red and counting with Redstone that would make 5 ores that look almost exactly the same in-game.. That is even for the most advanced players confusing as hell.
C) Unoriginal suggestions. You suggest 10 ores, but most of them only have the function "Armor with a x durable as x material with x damage" We need something cool and refreshing like Redstone. Perhaps give it other creative functions.
D) Names. I know they are all realistic, but come on.. Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire.. How long will it take before we get "Runite ore, Adamantite ore, Mithril ore" We are playing Minecraft, not Runescape
It's not a rant, just a thought of mine. Still I like the roots of the idea, more materials / ores to process
In what way are rubies, sapphires, and emeralds related to Runite, Adamantite, and mithril? Also, silver and ruby are special :sleep.gif:
im fine with it problem is that all of them look too similar. There needs to be little enough to be able to just know what they are by simply looking at them.
Why does everyone make runescape comparisons? First of all, how is that a bad thing, and second of all, yeah, how do you make the link between gems and metals? Runescape has sheep, too. As do dozens of other games. And mithril is originally based on Tolkien's works. Adamant (AKA Adamantine AKA Adamantite AKA That green stuff) is typically either diamond or some form of hard metal, which is referenced in Greek mythology. So there is no such thing as copying from Runescape*. You're really copying from almost everything else.
Anyway, right after this post, I'm going to go through the entire list of current ideas and rate them. Ziddia, go on IRC more so we can talk. Also, I don't think we should extend the map downwards. For every map we have right now, that quadruples the size, which is A LOT. Instead, I reckon we should have biome-based ores, especially the Nether. Right now it's interesting but not very useful. There's a dozen ways you can replace Nether materials with other stuff in daily use, except soul sand which nobody cares about. We also need more ideas for the current Nether materials.
*Except runite, but that doesn't count because mithril is cooler.

I can't stop playing Destiny. Someone raid with me damn it.
Emerald: Not bad, but you'd need to make sure you could get a high gem-to-block ratio, so that you could amass useful amounts of decorations fast.
Ruby: I like the ruby idea, but it might look too much like redstone and the invisibility is too extreme. Don't make extreme ideas, no matter how powerful, it shouldn't be too rare, no matter how common, it shouldn't be too weak, and vice versa.
Topaz: If it's a golden ore, won't it look like gold? We don't have any blue gems (Except lapis, which should be replaced with blue flowers) so sapphires would be good, even if rubies are just red sapphires too. The socketing idea is good too, but it needs refining. And the same thing as emerald: Make sure 1 gem can be useful for decoration, instead of needing 9 to make even a single block.
Bronze: I don't like the current forge, since you haven't changed it yet. That needs to be a priority. I reckon mithril would look better, since blue wouldn't look like shiny wood XD
Tin: I like the buckets, but if it was rare, for use in bronze, then it wouldn't make sense to be weaker than iron. And anyway, tin doesn't rust, unlike iron. Maybe tin could only be used for water, since it'd melt easily in lava.
Silver: I don't like the silver ideas much, especially the coins. A minecraft economy would be bad.
Steel: I also don't like steel. It's too much like iron, harder to make and still not as good as diamond. Just replace it with mithril or something.
Pitchblende: The uranium crafting process is too complex, we don't need nukes and it would be annoying and hard to make for uranium to decay. I do like the ideas of glow-in-the-dark glass however. It'd need other uses though. How about depleted uranium creeper-piercing arrows? :biggrin.gif:
Orthoclase: We don't need cameras, medicines should be potions instead, and fireworks can be crafted in other ways. I don't reckon we need potassium, and I don't like how it's crafted either. Actually, I might even contribute something and say how fireworks should function :tongue.gif:
Copper: Copper could be a bronze component, or it could be used in redstone circuits. Maybe for functional trapdoors, or wires that carried power over long distances, or even devices to send redstone magic beams to receivers at the other end, to carry a current wirelessly. Next stage: Wi-fi in a game you play over wi-fi.
Forge: While I like the basic concept of a furnace 2.0, I don't like how it's crafted or the chance of failure which I thought you said you would change. An obsidian furnace would be good, and it'd look cool too. Maybe I'll go design one.
Socketer: It might need a better crafting recipe, but I like the general ideas. I might post a list of my ideas for upgraded stuff in my next post, along with the firework ideas. Hey, I just noticed my opinions get longer as the post goes on, and the quality of the suggestion goes down too XD
Remover: I reckon we should just have a no-returns policy. If you stick on a gem and want it back, too bad, get a new gem and tool.
Steel: "Dickering"? And I thought I already discussed steel before...
Bronze: And bronze, too...
Silver: ...
Emerald: Like I may have said earlier, the decorative effects are probably good enough. Actually, scrap the armour and add some other effects, preferably something completely new, like redstone was. Maybe magic...
Ruby: [Sentence killed due to recursion]
Silver: Holy crap silver is here a third time?!
Bronze: Skip to powered items, do not pass go, do not collect 200 Krycoins.
Steel: *Skipped*
Powered items: The powered items need a whole new system, which I'll post soon.
Leeching weapons: Wait, obsidian bones? That would be epic, if it was possible. White weapons wouldn't be bad, but I reckon a combination of obsidian and uranium would be best.
An obsidian sword tipped with deadly, bone white... And also, the brightness doesn't depend on light levels, so you can ALWAYS see the pointy death rushing at you.

I beg you, please finish this update and give us a download link. This is an epic mod, way better then v0.5.3/4
the old version had too much ores... Just, upload it... I cannot wait! + Can you make some cool stuff with the uranium? :ohmy.gif: there are lots of ideas you could use! Please!
the mod is seperate to me... it just so happens that there is a mod with the suggestions name...
Updated one more time, very quickly. Now version 4. Supporters, there is a banner, and if I missed your suggestion, post here. Please vote now and do not post more (read the OP again if you dont understand what I mean by vote).
it is primarily a suggestion thread, and the mod is not yet released. talk to NetBlitzer, not me.

Agreed. Also, I like the actual CHALLENGE of finding ores and this means you'll see a lot more ores.
EVERY ORE DOESN'T NECESSARILY ADD MORE TOOLS OR ARMOR
I AM SUGGESTING ALL THESE AND THEN PHASING THEM OUT TO THE ONES PEOPLE LIKE MOST
AND EXTENDING UNDERGROUND TO 256 SHOULD BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU?
And no, I'm not raging at you. I just want to get it clear.

Steel = definitely, as this makes sense and would be easily compatible with game (but not with charcoal).
Gems = pretty addition, perhaps good for decorating stuff, but no thanks on the abilities.
Weird made up materials = No, please no.

Dude, HE HAS NO MADE UP MATERIALS!!! THESE ARE ALL REAL!!! Also, all the gems in this are HARD. Sadly, he didn't that for emeralds so it's weak :/
