This is an awesome mod!!! i wanted one like this so far for a long time for single player.. one thing though, would you be able to add a key that deletes blocks? like for example.. if you place the blocks you want and click a wrong direction or something. get it? or such as if your building and you have a dirt mound in your way and you dont want to take the time to destory it you could delete also? just wondering, get back to me and lemme know ^^
Just would like to say thank you for this mod and for updating it.
I also want to point out a bug in the mod the I'm experiencing. In multiplayer, on a friend's private (not pirate ) server, the mod works fine on land but when I attempt to build in the water one block in the line is missing. When I fill in that missing spot the adjacent block disappears. If I fill that in, then the adjacent block to that one disappears. This repeats until I reach the end of block line that I've created. In single player mod it appears to work fine in both water and land. Just in multiplayer it only appears to work on land.
If possible, could you pleas fix this bug? Thanks again!
Edit: Oops, looks like I spoke too soon. When my friend logged on he said that the parts I had filled in on land didn't looked filled in. Still a great mod, just wish it could work for multiplayer as well.
It gets shoved into the "mods" folder in your minecraft directory. If the folder doesn't exist it never gets made. Just make the folder and open the game. You can then set the stack size.
you need more then one item in the stack to use fastbuild.
So if you only have 1 in the stack, it will only place one down. If you have 64 it will place up to 64. It will never place more then what you have in the stack.
hey lazy programmer. first of all excellent job on the mod, very cool.
so two problems I've ran into. i had installed your vd.class right into the minecraft.jar file, started it up and after a few seconds of trying the mod kicked in and worked for a good two hours, then i shutdown minecraft and went to play it the next day and nothing. the mod no longer worked and hasn't since. any clues???
and nope i haven't installed any other mods since it was working, plus i reinstalled minecraft twice and added the vd.class and still nothing.
also i was wondering why it never created a .txt file for the config? I'm running a mac and don't know if that has anything to do with it. it did create a "fastbuild.cfg" in the "config" file though. It also created that "fastbuild.cfg" after reinstalling but still no luck...
any help would be greatly appreciated! i need to build some pretty extensive bridges!!!
Weird, there should be no reason why it should stop working. Do you have seperate installs, perhaps there is a keybinding conflict. Does the CTRL key work on your keyboard. Do you know that you must have a certain number of items in your stack to use fastbuild.
It follows the normal rules for block placement as well, meaning it will not try to place a block if you're in the way.
It creates fastbuild.cfg instead of fastbuild_config.txt now days.
If anyone else has this problem let me know, so I can look into it, but I need a bit more information to go on aside from 'it suddenly stops working', since there is no reason for it to.
No, but has me thinking, I might have compiled it with Java 7 (thought I was fairly certain I am using 6 yet), do you know what java version you are using. If it is Java 5 try updating, if it is Java 6 or later please let me know.
The thing is, if the mod wasn't working or broken, you shouldn't be able to build at all, since it more or less overwrites that part of the minecraft code.
So shift click an item to get a stack of 64, and place it in the bar. This is a neat way of limiting how many you place though.
If you have stack of 1, it will seem like it doesn't work, because it only has 1 to lay down.

I wrote a mod (your mod inspired me) that kind of acts as an "undo" for your mod.
