Also true. I don't let you put cooked meat into a soup... Having said that I should probably change it so you can, but you'll get a lower quality of soup (the meat would be too tough... :tongue.gif:).
No it won't. ;p
Its boiled up. It would be more tasty from having been cooked twice. Although, cooked pork doesn't really have any flavoring. Frying, now that's what will make the meat tougher. About the cheese, why can't I eat it? I read in the Cooking.ini that it should heal 4 hearts. About the salt deposits, does it form on an existing area? Or would I only see it after generating some chunks?
OK, I won't get into an argument regarding the best way to cook stew (yes, I admit, its better if you brown the meat before boiling it ^^) I'll let you add cooked foods to soups, it does make sense.
Cheese should be edible, is it not? Oops.
Salt deposits appear in newly generated areas only. I'd like to have them generated occasionally on shores, its on the todo list.

Hello, this is an idea I thought of and I'm pretty sure it will be popular.
This mod isnt very big but it will be impossible for ur taste buds to resist. :biggrin.gif:
Tomatoes:
As we all know, farming on Minecraft is just wheat... but what if we had some new crops?? How about tomatoes?
*snip*
Xie, i get a weird bug with salt deposits. If they are in contact with water they will sometimes implode and all the salt tiles and sand blocks they are on destroy themselves. It *seems* like the salt and sand can be picked up (quickly :tongue.gif: ) but its very off-putting to feel like the world is falling apart around you all of a sudden. Have you encountered this in testing?

Yeah, I know what I did wrong there. Will fix.

Hey Xie!
Is Cooking mod already compatible with the Extended 2x2 Crafting Grid?
Not yet, I didn't get the chance before I left the US. Might try today if my brain co-operates :tongue.gif:

I recommend reversing the change regarding the salt deposits.
I'm going to do it via the ini now, either way, because otherwise it's quite difficult to cook something. The yellow seed is quite rare to drop upon tilling.
I will eventually make salt deposits spawn along coastlines, making salt more common. As for yellow seeds, they should be easy enough to get by a) tilling near yellow flower or :cool.gif: tilling with a diamond hoe. I admit I haven't tested the former as much as the latter, so I'll look into tweaking the drop chance, or at least adding an option for it.
Quote from Alblaka »
Btw, how exactly do multiple yellow flowers next to each other behave? Do they increase the chance of a seed dropping?
As well, if there are multiple plants (f.e. Yellow, Red, Pumpkin), does each of the seeds get an increased chance to drop?
No and yes.
Quote from Alblaka »
Since you can't put wheat into soups, why not allow wheat to be crafted into noodles (should be a 1 to 1 ratio, though, otherwise it would be more profitable to just create Bread instead of cooking alltogether), which can be used for soup-ing? ^^
Actually I intend to let you add wheat to soups and stews, flour is a good for thickening broths. Also noodles are already in the design doc, I just haven't added them yet! :happy.gif:
Quote from Alblaka »
Atm, in general, directly eating food is somewhat more efficent then cooking it... Exspecially if you use 2 porkchop to create a mediocre healing soup whereas toasting them will easyly generate 8 health.
Yeah, atm I'm more worried about getting the mechanic sorted out than actually making it balanced. That's why I made it so you can edit the food yields in the .ini file, feel free to increase the yield of all soups and frys to make it more worth your while.
Quote from Alblaka »
Additionally, i recommend reducing the apple droprate... Atm i'm ludicrously overloaded with apples. Just because i replanted all seeds gained from 3 appletrees...
1/3rd of actual droprate would surely be sufficient, still.
I agree, the drop rate is too high. Again though, I included it as an option in the ini file.
Quote from Alblaka »
May you could add cheese to the list of ingridents for soups? I want cheese soup :ohmy.gif: XD
Consider it done XD
While I'm at it I may as well just let you soup or fry anything... that's the point of soups and stirfrys, right? And while fried apple, cheese and flour may not sound very tasty, its still nutritious and filling! :tongue.gif:
Ugh. I downloaded the cooking mod, and got a greyscreen, saying that campfires interfered with foliage...
So I undownloaded 2x2, and restarted...and just got a black screen.. =.=

It looks like the game can't find the salt deposit png. If you could help that would be great thanks.
Okay, so now...I can drag the mod into minecraft.jar, and I put the Xie folder into it, along with everything but the readme.txt.txt. I logged into MC, went to my world, and tried making a campfire, but to no avail...Help?
Just to make sure I'm not wrong, this was the recipe I used.

Thank you so much for helping me! This mod is so much fun (I got the bundle pack). The only thing I thing you should change is the hunger meter so that you starve at maybe about 30-40 minutes instead of 15 because other wise it seems that you have to eat every 5 minutes lol. I heard there is a way to change the time could someone please explain it to me thanks. Love the mod!
sorry, i couldn't find any help for this subject and i am really in need of your help. Basically i keep getting crashes and i belive it has something to do with your mod. here is the error report:

I searched through this thread for the answer, but couldn't find anything definitive. Can this be used on an SMP server? What would I need to go to get that working?

It says you're missing Setting.class. It's right there, the first thing in the report you posted. Try reading your error reports and see if you can understand what needs to be done, ok? Plus, I don't know how you guys get this. I think this class is in...I forgot. ;p Maybe ToolUtilis or Settings GUI API? Not sure. I don't have my files in this comp, sorry. Hope that helps.
Whoa. I'm an idiot...I forgot to re instll modloader after reverting my minecraft.jar.
lol. It happens to the best of us :wink.gif:

I'm afraid not at this stage. My Hunger mod works in SMP, but not Cooking or Farming.

I get a crash with Cooking now, something to do with salt deposits? I'm pretty sure it's not from all the mods I'm using because they work fine without Cooking. I had a bunch of crashes before but those were block ID conflicts which I'm pretty sure I got all ironed out.
