@Arbiter_Archon: I don't understand your question. Are you asking about their rarity, their usefulness, or what?
And thanks! :biggrin.gif:
I meant their rarity, as coal is the easiest to find and lapiz is the hardest (without a mod or inv editor, of course). Actually, could you tell me all of the rarities?
Actually, Diamond is the hardest to get in the normal game, because it creates smaller veins at lower levels. Lapis is not that rare at the correct levels.
Anyways, I made all gems the same rarity as Lapis Lazuli.
Copper is more common than Iron, and has durability a little above stone.
Silver is rarer than Iron, but currently has no uses besides Metal Bar. (I didn't make Silver tools, enough modders have done that before so I will give it other uses in the future.)
Mythite is only found in mountains in small amounts... so it is rarer than diamond, and the only way you can just it's rarity is by determining how rare mountains are (lol). It has durability almost twice that of diamond.
Unobtainium is rarer than diamonds, and found on even lower levels near bedrock. It has double duability of Mythite.
Infinium is the rarest of them all. It can only be found at bedrock level (you'll most likely be standing on Bedrock when you see it) only has at most 1 vein per chunk, and usually only has 1 ore per vein (but it's possible to get up to 3). So finding it is definitely a challenge.
Infinium tools have infinite durability and extreme strength on their respective blocks.
You can easily "accidently" mine 3 blocks at once, if you're not careful.

i re-installed the tools thing and modloader, still got a black screen. these are the mods i have downloaded...
I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm guessing it is a Block ID conflict. Try changing the Block IDs from 100-121 to 255-233, maybe that will work.
If you already have a savegame from the previous beta/test version of my mod, you might want to keep the old Block IDs for the old Blocks and only change the new ones.

A suggestion for infinium:
Infinium should be even harder to get.
Know what I'm thinking?
Infinium forms in 1,2, or VERY RARELY 3 ore veins that are DIRECTLY under a block of lava, flowing or source.
This would make it quite tricky to get, as it would mostly spawn under giant lava caverns, and would require an actual "master miner" as it should take.
I think I'm satisfied with Infinium spawns. It is really really rare. Although, I might make Unobtainium a little harder to get somehow. But placing it under lava spawns just seems... I don't know, overkill? A player wouldn't really need to be a master to get it. They would just need a lot of buckets.

Is it bad that I downloaded it because it's colorful?
No, not at all. :smile.gif: One of the things I wanted to do was make Minecraft a more colorful place.
So that was one of my intentions from the beginning. Especially check out the Gem Blocks. :biggrin.gif: Colors everywhere!
And did anyone notice a late entry??? I threw Amethyst into the gem mix. :wink.gif:
Scout:Sir, we are under attack!
Captain:By who?
Scout:BY a lot of those darn skellies...and...and
Captain:And what
Scout:and...and...look...behind...you...!
Creeper:Thatsssssssssssssssssssssssssss right!
Captain:WTF!
Could you distribute Quartz like ore is distributed (put into the earth before caves are carved out)? Quartz has a habit of making hard-to maneuver clumps instead of easy-to move around veins. You were probably aiming for a stalagmite-look, but the caves aren't big enough to accommodate those.
The name's the only thing that's been jacked. In this mod, Infinium is the end-all tool that's super powerful. Your Infinium is a heavy metal that's in between Diamond and Iron, quality wise.
The name makes sense in this mod, seeing as Cosmic's Infinium lasts, well, infinitely.
you do realize that this is the internet and your bickering about an idea for a game that the creator said he doesnt like mods or modding. Cosmic made a good mod, good way to douche up his hard work. I think you need to sit down and complete the "Idea" he supposedly ripped off from you, and be quiet while you still have some dignity. he committed no theft, and your idea was a little lame after i read it.
This looks like a great mod, I'm definately going to use it
My only delima is that I would have to travel an ungodly amount of chunks to begin finding the new ores on my main map because I've had this map since infdev.
Maybe you could make a separate mod that will update older maps with your new ores
@blilightning: Mythite simply appears in tall areas. It appears on the upper 24 or 32 layers of the game (don't really remember which), but just find any mountainous area and you should find some inside.

ID List?
You can make the ID's whatever you want them to be. The settings.txt file is in the minerpack folder.

Works fine for me... it sounds like you didn't install or Tool Utils, but I guess it could also have been the "MinerPackHarvesters.class" file in my mod. Either way it sounds like one of those is missing.

is there any way i can get rid of quartz? there just seems like theres too much and im not really a fan of it
I like the way Quartz is distributed. It was intentional. But I may lower it's spawn rate, because I think there might be a bit too much of it.
And in the future, I will separate the minerals into separate mods so people can pick and choose the ones they like.

There was already a mod in progress for it...

You shouldn't bite the hand that feeds.
I'm not. I'm pointing out a stolen idea.
Actually, to be fair... I came up with the idea for my mod before your thread ever existed. If anyone stole anything, you stole my ideas from my brain.
So I'd rather not talk about anyone "stealing" anything... because obviously I didn't.
Everything in my mod is an original concept (except for real stuff like copper and gems). I was not influenced by other people's mods or etc.
And I honestly don't appreciate being accused of 'stealing' when I know for a fact my 'Infinium' precedes yours.
(I've been working on this mod since December, and I even have a working Beta 1.1_02 version of it.)
And really, it's not that hard to come up with the name 'Infinium'. You simply combine Infinite + ium and you're done. :tongue.gif:

I think there is a program in the 'Editors' subforum that adds new ores to old maps. I'm not sure if it'd work here, but it might. I've never tried it.
But I can't really write a mod just to insert new ore in old chunks. It's too much work when you can simply just start a new map or search for new chunks.
Mostly bug fixes.
I fixed Tools mining properties. Copper tools no longer mine things they aren't supposed to.
Also, you now need Mythite tools to mine Unobtainium, and Unobtainium tools to mine Infinium. This is working how it should.
I also halved the rate of Quartz spawns. It is now a bit rarer and hopefully won't flood every tiny cave.
No more known issues. If you guys find any, let me know. But this release should be bug free! :biggrin.gif:
where do i find all the recipes? is it just the metal bars and the weapons and armor? thanks for the help
Yeah, right now it is just metal bars and tools. No armor.
You can also make Blocks using 3x3 ingots/gems in the Crafting Box, for either storage or just for pretty...ness.
Looks Great ! But I got this after installing the mod:
