READ THIS BEFORE POSTING FOR HELP! Before saying "oh, this doesn't work, oh, that doesn't work", first check that you have the latest version. Often bugs are caused by my carelessness and are usually rectified within 15 minutes. Second, check that you have the correct version of Minecraft installed: eg, version 1.4 mods WILL NOT work on 1.4_01 (in most cases) and vice versa. Third, check that you installed your mod correctly. If you think you did, do it again! If it still doesn't work, follow a different video, or install it manually. Then, and ONLY THEN, post for help.
I found out that arrows could be lit on fire by shooting them through lava, and I thought that was really neat. Unfortunately, it is very hard to aim through lava, and the arrows don't actually set stuff on fire. I though this needed changing, so I made a mod. NOTE/WARNING: From version 3 onwards, this mod utilises ModLoader (included). Earlier versions are not modloader compatible, and may clash with other mods. Backup your minecraft.jar if using earlier versions (or even the newer versions!)
This mod adds functionality to the default Minecraft bows and allows you to craft new 'elemental' bows which consume regular arrows, but add an effect to each one depending on the bow used.
Compatibility: Beta 1.5_01

Replaced items.png replacement with addOverride - so it now supports texture packs!
Replaced en_US.lang replacement with AddLocalization - so it now supports... badly made mods?
And probably some other stuff I forgot about

-snip really old (and incompatible) versions-
1) Install the mod just like any other mod (using 7-zip, Winzip, or WinRAR)
2) Get a control item and a bow.
3) Arrange them like so:
3a) Control items:
Flint and Steel = Flint and Steel (Fire) Bow
Torch = Torch Bow
TNT = TNT BOW!!!
x3 = CREEPER BOW!!! (as in 1 in each spot, 3 in total) (Egg) = Chicken/Egg Bow
4) Aquire some arrows.
The fire bow fires (hehe, pun) arrows which set fire to the block it lands on.
The torch bow fires arrows which place a torch on the block it lands on.
The TNT bow fires arrows which explode with 3/4 the power of TNT when it lands.
The creeper bow fires arrows which spawn a creeper when it lands.
The egg bow fires arrows which spawn an egg when it lands.
EDIT: To justify making this when Elemental Arrows exists, I have several reasons:
1: We take different approaches to making the arrows. I use a bow, Risugami uses arrow types.
2: I wanted to make this so that you could fire arrows into walls and use them as temporary torches (thanks to someone on the forums for the idea)
3: I wanted to make a proper mod to prove my worthiness nerdiness
and they said bumping wasn't good... bump and get 2 replies...
thanks for the positive comment, foxchicken.
and gdscei, please read the whole post before posting... i mentioned my reasons for making this along with the elemental arrows stuff in the bottom...
WARNING! BOWS CREATED BEFORE UPDATE WILL NOW SHOOT FLAMES!!! NOT TORCHES!!!
Gui hack. Can now tell bows apart.
Now 2 types of bows:
Flint and Steel bow: (Bow with "steel" in corner) Fire arrows, arrows turn into fire upon impact.
Torch bow: (Bow with torch in corner) Fire arrows, arrows turn into torches upon impact.
Flint and Steel bow: Flint and Steel
Torch bow: Torch
bump Version 2.1
Flint and Steel bows now set mobs on fire!!! XD!!!
Torch bows now don't do damage, because torch bows aren't designed for combat.
bump Version 2.2
TNT BOWS!!! Control block = TNT
Arrows explode on impact with 3/4 power of TNT. Power loss for speed and range increase. Also because I kept blowing myself up...
bump Version 3
NB: Migrated to ModLoader (included)
No biggies, just migrated to ModLoader (included) to hopefully reduce crashing. Note: avoid anything that might modify the arrow class...
Also, small GUI hack: tooltip now displays correct names (Fire Bow, Torch Bow, TNT Bow)
