Beta 1.5 added "official" pine (spruce?) and birch saplings, so this mod will no longer be updated. Feel free to use the sapling graphics for yourself or include them in a texture pack with a credit/link to TooManyItems. Thanks.

VarietalSaplings is a mod that makes the saplings dropped by pine and birch trees grow into the same kind of tree they came from. Also, new sapling images are included and the "default" tree is named hickory, since the leaf shapes are kind of similar and it's an important lumber tree.

Risugami's ModLoader is required.

Currently the saplings from pines drop as being slightly damaged(and will not stack as such(, and if one uses bonemeal on them they grow into normal trees.

Just a heads up! I have no other mod installed beyond crystal clear waters.

I put up a fixed version. This one includes pj.class which I was trying to avoid, since it increases the chance of conflicts. It'll have to do until I can work with modloader, though.

As soon as I saw that birch trees dropped normal saplings, I was like, "How do I shot pine tree?" and I mentally noted the fact that I wanted it...

It's a shame that isn't compatible. Waiting for ModLoader compatibility.

It's updated. It now depends on ModLoader and has separate icons and names for the different saplings. Try it out!

Only if betterlight is installed first, clean install without betterlight, then add it last.

One idea:
To grow the "white" trees, you should make a sapling like the tree, that's "white".
To grow the pine, you should make a sapling that is "darker" than the normal one.

Is this accurate? Does it work with HD packs if you re-size the sapling png files?
