when I get my BTM-settingsscreen working, think you could merge it? it will be on the client version only, but I'll make sure it still generates a file with the same format. I just finished my api changes to allow for subscreens, which means I'll be starting now.

Stupidity on the rise with a 40% chance of shitstorms.
Hello all, I'm R-T-B, skilled java developer and owner of a minecraft hosting service.
One of my clients on one of my servers I host has hired me to port this mod to the latest minecraft. As per his wishes, the final product is now being made public.
That said, my client does not plan to hire me for any updates, and I do not plan to continue to port this EVERY release as it's quite an intensive process (That's not to say no donations = no updates, I'll probably port it every release I consider "stable" if no donations come in, for example)). He suggested I ask for donations here. If you the community want to see this product updated, I suggest you donate a little cash, a little bit goes a long ways. :smile.gif:
Please see here to get instructions on what this mod is about, as well as install and usage:
This is the first 0.1 BETA release of the updated mod. No new features were added, and some may be broken. I plan at least one bugfix release to cover the areas I missed after this free of charge, but after that I'm going to need some donations to fund my efforts. :wink.gif:
EDIT: Some people seem upset about my donation request. I don't require them, but this is A LOT of work to update and I won't be able to stick to Notch's release schedule and keep my life in reasonable order. All I meant is that additional donations help me to update this in a more timely manner. I by no means need precisely $50, that's just what my client paid. Any little bit helps though. :smile.gif:
EDIT EDIT: Initial version was the wrong build. Please redownload if you downloaded before 11:00PM PST January 13th!

This modification that you are porting was created by Bucyruss, who invested a huge amount of time and effort into this mod. The least you could do is credit him, instead of "hey guys heres a link that explains this donate to me please."
I implore you to credit him in both this thread and in a txt file in the downloads. He turned the modding community on it's head with this modification, and With his analysis on Biomes and Mob farming. He's done alot for us, without requesting for donations. The port is appreciated, but please credit Bucyruss.

Requiring donations is abhorrent, especially for a mod you did not create. And yes, you are essentially requiring donations. Having a simple "please donate if you like it!" button is all you should have.
Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem.

All mods are based on minecraft classes which the original modders did not create, this is no different. And no, as I clarified, I do not REQUIRE donations. They simply are an incentive for me to work hard like I am now. This is a lot of work, and I AM a freelance coder. If being a freelance coder is abhorent, then I'm guilty as charged. But no, I do not require any particular amount of donations and apologize if I ever implied such.

I credited him as a "genius" a few posts down, but yes OP post does need his name. Thanks for pointing that out.
And yes, several things are broken in both builds at the moment. I am on it now. And about that whole "one bugfix" thing, that was before I realized how awesome a mod this is. I'll be doing at least a few more updates regardless because now I can't play without it. :wink.gif:
Also some of that was copy and pasted from my clients agreement, and it shows. That's not the case anymore.
Ok everyone, the issue lies with Notch's new trees. I let his tree code take over and thus it is overriding everything biome related.
A quick fix would be to cut out the new trees.
A better fix (but take more time) would be to isolate the obfuscated portion of the code that handles Notch's birch trees and merge it with the biome code. I really have no idea how long that might take.
Anyone want a quickfix release or should I just start working on the longer goal?
Looking into several other bugs now, I should start a bug tracker.
BTW, you guys are welcome to look at the source code in each archive if you want.
Could anyone confirm the bonemeal error? I'm not at a minecraft capable machine at the moment and it's hard to go bug hunting on one isolated report. Also to reporter, SSP or SMP?

Leaving a donation link up is fine. Asking if they want to donate is fine. Your wording will get further people riled up. Especially for a project that wasn't intially yours. Your work is fine, your donation link is fine. Just reword it so there isn't any future misconceptions of your intentions. The edits at the bottom won't help if you still have those phrases in the thread.

Make sure to delete your META-INF folder for SSP version. Your command line looks right, make sure the settings file is in the same location as the minecraft_server.jar.
If do not require donations, then I suggest rewording your original post.
I have done so as much as I see necessary, much of the original client contract modding language since the initial post has been removed. If what is up now is inadequate, well I prefer to spend time modding over trivial disputes over wording.
I may not be the most politically correct on that, but it's how I am.
Is it possible to pass off the BTM as some kind of auto world generator? Maybe like get the chunk generation data from the minecraft jar then apply the BTM, etc. I am still going over Java right now so I really wouldn't know if its really possible. I know it is possible in some form however.
Actually, it may not take that long at all. I just made a major breakthrough. It turns out the mod was only loading the BiomeTerrainBase class, and not all the other mods! That explains all the behavior you guys are getting, such as biome tree, deposit mod, etc not working.
It will be fixed in less than 2 hours if my hunch is right. Stand by. :smile.gif:

They were just pointed out so you can avoid any future claims of you "demanding" donations.

Hello everyone, new SSP and SMP version 0.2 is out. Please try them both and report back. :smile.gif:
All "optional" mod classes should now work. That means no more "just the basic" features. There'll probably be bugs, and I am eager to hear them. I'm particularly curious to if the tree biome mod portion works, density, tree types (savana) etc...

I think it's related to this mod.

EDIT: Just tried it, didn't work.
I think the longer fix would be better, I have all the time in the world.
Was that crash on SSP or SMP? I'm updating SSP first and porting the fixes over, but still I'm curious where to look.
SSP

Good, then I am looking in the right place.
There will be an update this evening. I hope to have the vast majority of behaviors back to normal by then.
Yeah, sorry for the wait as I want to play with it as bad as you. But it's hard work man. :wink.gif:
