I really think I need to get a better computer. This DECREASES my FPS from 4 to 1 and causes the game to crash after about 5 seconds
Although... I get about 200 FPS with a game I'm making in Unity3D, so maybe it's just that Java SUCKS.
Edit: I redownloaded minecraft.jar, installed MCRegion v5 then Optimine v3, and this is what I get: (holding F3 for stats)

Why not trying turning the graphics to fast and view distance down if you dont have a gaming rig? You said you were getting around 4 fps b4 this mod but yet you have Fancy on and looksk to be normal to far view distance.....not very smart.
Tried using it. While I rever you for the FPS boost, I can do WITHOUT the triangle glitch. It's happening to me. It's REALLY easy to see on any light level below 14.
Im using:
Modloader+Audiomod+SpawnGui
Teleportsigns(+signtags)
Simplemap+betterlight+bettergrass
wildgrass
sspcommands+TNTdispenser
It's also intresting to note that I have 3 different minecraft.jars. The simplemap patcher created the other 2, as you know. I just dropped both the optimine and mcregion files into all 3 of them.
Damn, before using this, dusk and dawn with fast graphics, tiny distance, and no bobbing would kill me (seriously. The lag led to a lion from Mo Mobs getting in three hits before I could react. I survived, but still, that was a mild example. Falls into lava are other examples that, unfortunately, leads to lag kills not being an exaggeration)
After: Far distance and little slow down. Heck, I went from 10-20 fps up to the 40s on tiny!
Hi Scaevolus, love the mod, used fastrender before Optimine came out, and everything is awesome. However, after the most recent update, I installed Optimine on a fresh .jar, (Open Archive in 7-zip, drag the files in, delete META-INF, close 7-zip window) then installed the newest version of BetterLight as well.
But now, every 10-30 minutes or so of playing, Minecraft would just close, and a text file with the name "hs_err_pid####" would show up. To isolate the problem, I deleted my bin folder and started with another fresh .jar, installed only Optimine this time and am still having the same problem. I thought I might have a corrupt save or something, so I started a new world. Same problem. For the record, I have no other mods installed.
Do you have any idea what could be the problem? The possibility of me getting a faulty minecraft.jar several times in a row seems fairly low, so I am almost positive it's a mod error of some sort.
I can send you the error file if you'd like, it was way too long to post here.
I installed optimine with these mods:
Floodgate Beta 1.2_01v2
CactusCraft v1.21 - Nandonalt
Elevator Block v1.2.4
Lightsensor Beta 1.2
Functional Books (2)
ModLoader Beta 1.2_01
MrMModsv1_8 (tried to install this last but it started up, then got a error)
also currently my .jar just has betterlight on and I completely cleared my minecraft folder, but I still have the same problem.

Looks to me like you have anti aliasing forced on, which could lead to the effect as seen in the above picture if not combined with proper multisampling as well. Would be an explanation why the problem wont go away with a clean minecraft install either.
Yeah, Dilla is right, that's the problem. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, try to find the control panel for it and disable automatic anti aliasing. I did a bit of googleing to figure that out myself so that is indeed the problem.

My Minecraft also does this with your mod installed. Would you like me to send you my error file too?

Try opening your videocard's control panel and turning off forced anti aliasing.
Currently, your Optiminer mod causes problems with Zan's minimap. Whether I install Optiminer first, then Zan's mod, or Zan's mod first, then Optiminer, both result in the map/arrow not rotating with the player, and having the waypoint flags follow the player. There are no conflicting class files. Zan's minimap works perfect on a clean install of minecraft 1.2_01. Optiminer works perfect whether Zan's minimap is installed or not. I have also posted this info in Zan's thread, I hope you guys can resolve the issue.
Also, thanks for this great optimization, I see it's helped a lot of players' performance.

I modified Zan's minimap to work properly with Optimine:
So I decided to give this a shot today, it did work for me, I got it installed and it did increase my FPS. However I got an unfortunate side effect. I have 4gb of RAM on my laptop (which I play minecraft on) and usually well playing the game with a couple firefox tabs open and maybe some windows explorer windows I sit at around 35-45% memory usage. However, after I got this in after about 20 minutes of playing I got a warning from Java that my computer was running out of memory, I check and I was at around 80% memory usage and climbing!
I wasn't sure what was causing it. I had been building some minecart boosters in game and I thought maybe I had an infinite boosting loop somewhere that was messing stuff up. So I destroyed all the boosters (killed the boosting cart off the track). Closed down the game, loaded it back up and watched the memory usage this time. When I loaded up my saved game it immediately started to climb above the normal values I was used to. Just to be sure nothing was weird I restarted my laptop and made a new world, same thing happened. So I went and restored my backup .jar (from before installing the mod) and now I'm back to my normal memory usage numbers.
Not sure what caused the issue but figured I should bring it up anyways.
Thanks so much for the quick fix! I know a lot of people (myself included) consider Optimine and Zan's minimap to be essential, so having them cooperate with each other is a really big help. Hopefully they will stay compatible with each other after updates. You are awesome.

The modified Zan's minimap doesn't require Optimine.

EDIT: Question answered: jy.class
EDIT2: And of course, the mod doesn't want to work without jy.class. :tongue.gif:
