Fair enough, guys. I really want it to fit in with the original Minecraft texture pack. If you think it helps. I will change it tormorrow (its midnight here).
Ok, I have been working with Google Sketchup and Paint.net to get a nice image of how it MAY look. I said MAY because velvokay hasn't send me a more recent model yet. I made the model in GS after the image I recieved some time ago. I don't know if he updated it yet.
Anyway, about the image (check OP). I like the way the texture turned out, because I think that it really fits in the entire Minecraft mob collection because of it. The texture is not to realistic but not to cartoony either. Some things I'm having doubts about are the eyes and the size of the claws. I think the claws may need to be bigger, but I like them this way to. The legs could stay as the spider legs, but Idk if velvokay changed this already. Ill wait for MCP to update before I expect any progress of him/her.
I love the model! Looks great! I've made some changes (lowering legs to floor level, spreading legs apart more) but I haven't started on claws and I think I'll base them off of yours.
Lawl Im working on it, just wanted to know if the texture of the main part was Ok with everyone
Oh lol, I thought you had made a random decision to make it more "to scale" with the player and thus without leg detail.
That wouldn't be fun, would it? The legs will be small though :smile.gif: Haven't heard anything from the programmer... don't want to push him but I need to know details..
I've basically finished the model for the default crab, all I have to accomplish now is to actually code the a.i. and skin it, I'm open to any suggestions! What the finished model looks like (test skin again)
*note they won't be spawning in rainforests like in the photos*
Again, I don't expect this to be perfect so I will be reading ALL suggestions/comments/questions.
Hmm, if anything just give the legs an extra joint. These aren't movable joints, just to give it a little differentiation from the spider:
Also, I don't like that the claw clips into the front legs.
Currently that is not possible with the way Minecraft is run, you simply can't make an axis off of more than 2 axis's (one including the main body). :/
I could lower the legs a bit more?

I think what he means is that the legs are too strait out, that it looks too much like sticks.
If you could make a tiny edit that makes it more like the original model?
For example, eyes go from
[]
to
and mouth goes from
to [] []
or
[]

Yea, the eyes... keep the mas black dots (preferable where the top black dot is in that skin).
Also, make the mouth more "heart shaped" since thats what they look like :].
And instead of orange, why not green, blue or gray for the "small" land bound crabs, and blue, maroon, black for the giant deep sea ones?
The eyes will be changed, but Im not sure about the mouth. I don't think it's bad, but Ill see what I can do..
Other Species may be added later on. For now Ill just focus on a classic orange one.

It's hard to make a picture...
Also, adding another species to the "in the future" list-
horseshoe crab!

Zombiecraft Maps!
Well, a year ago I could make bent legs when MC supported .mdl files, but Minecraft only supports quadrilaterals and cubes.
