Hi, I've got this running on MC 1.66 and I'm using the bumpmap parallax shader and it's working pretty well for the most part. I'm using the Balea texture pack and I'm noticing a big difference between my experience with this and the Balea video linked to on page 1.
I'm seeing pixelation in textures that I don't see in the Balea video. It's almost like in the video it's using mip filtering in the texture samplers. Example: POM works fairly obviously but with pixels standing up in the grass.
Hey Steve!
There something you must have done wrong because I'm using M4K with its shaders thanks to the unofficial update and it works perfectly fine. For 2 of my friends too.
You should try again, maybe back to a fresh MC install and loading up everything
Thanks! I have already started from scratch a few times already and again. Could you give me a step by step instructions please?
Here is what I have done:
1. Start the minecraft.exe to install the game.
2. Patch it with mcpatcher-2.1.0_01.exe (all boxes checked).
3. Copy the M4K texture pack (.zip) to texture packs folder in Minecraft directory (%appdata%).
4. Copy the contents inside Shaders-Windows downloaded here to Minecraft directory excluding the Mac folder.
5. Overwrite the shaders4kids files (base.fsh,base.vsh,final.fsh) to .minecraft\mods\shaders\contents\files\shaders .
6. Run INSTALLER.exe and install mods.
What did I do wrong?
This is not working for me with Ghost2 HD pack with his custom shaders. I followed adeljin's instructions on the previous page exactly.
I can start the game, load the pack, but when I try to open a SSP save it does soemthing really funny. It flashes back to the title screen, then appears to start loading the level, but hangs on "Saving chunks" for 5-10 seconds before some sort of crash screen flashes but then vanishes before I can read any of it, and that is followed by a black screen. There is no error log created.
I also tried phantom's method starting with ModLoader, but ModLoader breaks the game even before trying to install the shader mod, so that's a no go.
I'm running XP with java set to run at 2048mb, GF 9800GT, i5-2500k @ 4.5gHz with 8GB RAM (not that it helps...)
1. Drag contents of modloader zip into minecraft.jar >> I think you have to run the game once.
2. Drag contents of Laurina's patch for GLSL into minecraft.jar, just into the root of the file, same as modloader.
3. Run mcpatcher (HD patch) to enable HD texture packs.
4. install shader scripts, destination is a folder called "shaders" in the root of minecraft.jar >> these scripts are distributed with the unpatched version of GLSL, you can get it from DAX... he's awesome, and I'd take a skeleton arrow for him.
5. read the bump map section of this wiki for information on sexy, sexy textures. I have problems with specular lighting making my torches look fubar, and blanking out textures occasionally... I turned it off for now because there's very little info available for specular problems.
6. install textures to the texture folder OUTSIDE of the minecraft.jar file, just in the minecraft folder.
7. say "oooooh"
I opened a new jar, dropped modloader in, ran minecraft once, then dropped in Laurina's ML patch. I created a new folder named "shaders" in the root of the jar, and dropped my shaders in, and put terrain_nh and terrain_s into the root of the jar. Then I ran MCPatcher, then ran minecraft again. None of the effects showed. No bump mapping, nothing. I can't find out for the life of me what's wrong.
Edit: Looking into it further, it looks like running MCPatcher after doing anything else reverts ALL the files except for the net folder to the default before patching. I looked for shaders$lightsource.class and the others after patching with MCP, and they were all gone. The game runs if you run mcpatcher last, but no shaders. Running the game after installing the shader mod AFTER MCP crashes the game. This is so frustrating.
I'm having trouble installing Laurina's port. I followed these instructions exactly: [..]

I don't know if this is what's causing the problem, but you see what I did differently in my instructions: the terrain_nh and terrain_s go with the regular terrain file in a TEXTURE PACK! I'm betting that the HD patch doesn't work with the default texture. Worth a try, at least. Good luck!
Ahh, "install textures" in your instructions confused me. I thought you just meant regular texture packs and thought I'd basically already completed that step. Didn't know you meant the NH and S files.
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by installing textures, phantom. I think I installed everything correctly up to that step. Depth of field seems to work in game, by default, but not bump mapping.
Thanks for the 1.66 port - I simply love this mod too much not to have it running.
However, has anyone managed to get the shader from the acid trip shader video working? I install everything and it works, it just turns everything black in the world except the sky, my HUD, inventory...etc
Would really love to play with it enabled and not making every texture black.

yeah, mine works with that shader. i just have the HD patcher, the unofficial shader patch, and wildgrass installed (in that order, i believe), using misa's 64 pack.
Well having finally tried this once I'm amazed and excited to play with all the shaders out there.
I saw 120 HD textures, toon shaders, and moving waves.
The game looked amazing, but unfortunately after trying for hours to get modloader working with it I failed in the end.
I use way too many mods in my game to keep it fun, to ditch them for amazing visual bells and whistles.
Until this works with modloader again, I'm afraid it's just not worth it to me. =(
There are a few partial tutorials I have found on how to create a compatible texture pack for bump mapping, but nothing really satisfactory. Any help? Are there any complete, in-depth tutorials? Thanks in advance, sorry if this question has been answered before, I couldn't find anything.
i got the shaders working with the unofficial patch but i have this weird problem
it looks like the terrain texture is a tiny bit to small for the cubes and its getting the pink line on the edges
i didnt do anything to the game its a fresh download

I reverted to 1.5 to see if that was why I couldn't get it to work before I realized what the problem was.
The code at the top of the page creates a few spaces before each line so it isn't read correctly.
Copy the code at the bottom of the page so when you paste it all the lines of code are flush with the left side of the text file.
Once I did that it ran perfectly.
It's truely insanity to see for it yourself.

I didn't notice what adeljin said, I would've done that right away if I did.
EDIT: Sorry, I found it. I should really stop being impatient. Trying this now.
Thank you guys very much. My game is now beautiful and satisfying :ohmy.gif:. Thanks again!!
