I ended up having an issue with the Windows installer where it can't find \minecraft\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF. I checked it out, and it's not in the jar at all. Any recommendations?
Yeah, Azraeil's batch script expects minecraft.jar to contain a manifest. Many mods delete this manifest. I'm putting the final touches on an official Windows installer as we speak. So you can do one of a few things:
Download a fresh copy of Minecraft. Install this mod, then install your other mods.
Or . . .
Wait for the installer update which will be up in a few hours.

Perhaps it's a conflict with another mod? I have MrM's, Xau's, BattleTower, modloader+audioloader, moreworlds.

I'm a decent Java programmer learning Python, and I'm skilled with server administration, WorldEdit, redstone circuitry, etc. Feel free to show me mod ideas, I'm thinking about starting to make mods, and I'd be happy to give insight as to how a mod could be implemented in Minecraft.
How do I install this on ubuntu maverick? It's supposed to work on Linux but it says it can't find the jar after unzipping it.
Go to your home folder and hit CTRL+H It will cause the hidden files and folders (Including .minecraft) to be shown. Then All you should have to do is extract the mod to the .minecraft folder and run the install script.
His patcher works every single time for me, if you have a problem with patchers then don't use those mods.
Honestly, you're acting like an arrogant self righteous ****, stop being a ****ing faggot and let other people release their mods in the forms that they want. You're not helping the community by saying this is how things should be done and criticizing those that support any other form. It wont matter either way once there's an official modding API as the way to install mods will change completely, but you will probably still boast that direct modification of the files and class distribution is the only way to go.
Stop dismantling other modder's code then releasing it the way YOU want too, if you don't like the way it's released then leave ONE comment for the author to consider, there's no need to act like a rich snob of a child.
I guess i'll install tomorrow. Also, does this mean you can get reflections, bloom, and color correction now?

@inzal No need to get hostile about a person's dissatisfaction with the patch.
EDIT: Nevermind, just read the entire thread. I approve of your comment.
I have to say this mod makes the game look even more beautiful. Better Light really made things look smooth, but this is icing on the cake. HUGE props to the maker!
There's one big flaw here I'm having that I haven't seen anyone else post about and it's the sun and the moon disappearing. Is this happening to anyone else? If I revert to my backup, they pop back up in the sky, but after installing this mod, they no longer appear. This affects my night playing as there is no moonlight cast on anything, so I'm a bit worried places that were sufficiently lit by the moon and torches may spawn hostile mobs.
This is just a minor setback, and I presume the fix is a simple one.
And that's exactly what I did. I did what you listed a few times, but when I load a world it goes black and freezes up. My mouse is then unlocked automatically and I can click on my desktop.

Would that explain my game working fine after the patch, yet with no dof?Never mind, it's not installing properly for some reason, I'll post the console output.

Thanks!
You'll have to edit shaders/final.fsh. Experiment with the number in the following line:
Windows version uploaded. Let me know how it works. Hopefully it'll fix some installation issues.
I'm on Windows 7 Pro x64.
That line isn't in the file, searched for it in WordPad but not luck, read trough the whole document but nothing.
is it any of these?
const float dofSpan = 35.0;
const int GL_LINEAR = 9729;
const int GL_EXP = 2048;
const float HYPERFOCALDISTANCE = 15.0;
In Azraeil's shader it's the 0.005 number in this line:
