Poll: A Preference: More health hardcore mode?

I would be really happy, if i would get the permissions to put your awesome mod in my ModPack called MagicalMinecraft 2.
I would give credits and a link to your mod on my website I hope you answer me and give me permission

Finally put some time looking into attributes, seems like I understand it. I have finished converting code to 1.6.2. For the most part it seems to run fine (aka the hearts are working as intended).
For HUD options, if you enable "More Health HUD" it will give you the up to 3+ heart rows on the left (the potion can add more heart rows, and other mods that add health can add more rows and more health. I only cap at 30 hearts for what my mod gives out, so you can get higher and higher with other mods) and the armor row on the left above hunger.
"Minimal HUD" gives what I showed before, one row of hearts on left with armor above.
If you turn both these options off (set to false) you get minecraft's default, which shifts armor above your rows of hearts. This probably is fine with the potions usually only giving you temporary extra row(s), but probably takes too much space with a health mod.
The only big bug right now is textures, I am looking in to getting my heart item textures working.
Issue resolved through PMs. Your fix for Tconstruct is what I put those options for. If any other mod has their own heart hud, you should disable mine so their's works.
I'd rather keep it closer to Zelda where the heart container gives you 1 hearts. Plus, I do have "heart pieces", where 4 make a heart container. Health going down by quarters is an interesting idea, but that would require me to change damage values for mobs (as they only operate on half heart damage).
You have my permission as long as you do what you said
Is the 1.5.2 version compatible or do i need to wait for the 1.6.2 version specifically? Also does health go down if you spend exp to enchant?
Thanks for the showcase! I'll make a section on the topic compiling the showcases when I get time.
About the bug, I believe it's because you are giving yourself so many XP level so quickly. I have a kinda dirty hack to deal with an issue that was otherwise un-resolvable (I may be able to fix in future) that could be causing this issue. I don't think you could see this issue in normal play, or just doing /xp X amount to get to a high level instantly.
I believe the issue stems from my mod having to run code updating your health at certain levels, but you are granting yourself too much XP too fast so that while it's still updating the first time the second time update overrides, causing issues.
Also is there an issue where your chat is covering the hearts? Did my mod cause that?
I once too started modding by looking at the player base class. But don't worry, 1.6 completely changed how health is stored (namely using the new attribute system) which is probably why you could not find where the health variable is (it does not exist anymore). I myself had to take awhile to figure out this system, but for the most part I have it up and running (only have to fix texture issue on heart items).
No, the 1.5.2 version won't work for 1.6.2.
Health does not go down if you use exp to enchant or even if you die (unless you turn on hardcore mode). However, if you die you need to work back XP to where you were beforehand to start earning hearts again.
Oh that explains a lot , Good luck with the texture issues.
Ah ok, I'll wait for the 1.6.2 version then.
Awesome. I was worried when i were "planning" my own health mod(i gave up because i found yours, ill make something else. ) because i had thought to multiply health by your level count. Then i remembered the reduction from Enchanting and death. Glad to see you worked around that.
Thanks very much for your replies.
New in V4.5:
1)Updated to 1.6.2 with latest recommended forge.
2)Changed code to work with the new attribute system (had to fix a lot of code related to health).
3)Updated my HUD code to work with Minecraft's new system.
1. Install Forge API Installer
Now, for my mod:
1. Drop the zipped file into the mods folder. (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods)
2. Run minecraft, enjoy!
3. Any questions/suggestions, post in the thread!
Yeah, I decided to work around exp loss from when I added the RPG system in (there was a time when it was just heart containers and pieces). I use another variable to keep track of how far the player is down the level array. If they are playing on hardcore mode, I just reset this variable on death
I see, thanks.
Those.. are examples lol. Just check out the config file and you will see!
Pm'd you.
Glad you like it!
I don't post my source, but if you need some help pm me. Dealing with health w/o base class edits is pretty involved. For a long time I was still editing base classes, and only recently has forge supported max health modding.
Note I won't be able to help until this weekend. IRL stuff.
I won't be available this weekend but I will pm you next week if that is fine. btw keep up the good work.
