Just to make sure; here's what I'm doing:


delete .minecraft to reset things
run minecraft, downloading all the files
close minecraft
open .minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar in my .jar opener

close .jar opener
open minecraft

watch as minecraft doesn't load fully...

Hm.. that sounds right.. maybe it's the jar opener that's the culprit? I doubt it but it's a possibility; I used Winrar for dealing with the .jar, however i now use 7zip (winrar might be easier to manage :tongue.gif:) Are you on Windows? I use XP and i just right click on the .jar and select Open with.. and find winrar/7zip. works great.

you really shouldn't be having any issues from the steps you take,

1. install modloader
2. install Handheld Torchlight mod
3. Delete META-INF folder
4. Close the jar and run the game

Those are the only steps you really need to take.. However if you're still having issues, you could try this Mod installing program that should do everything for you without an issue, found here

It should not work on torches! Only if you craft a torch like this!

The Torch will only stay alive in some minutes... maby 5?
And if you hit a mob, it will be on fire!

Thank you all for the help. Finally got it working.


And now I can say this is quite cool. Only ran a test to make sure it works so far, but I'm going to love this while exploring caverns.

Just to repeat,mods havent ever worked if I deleted the whole META-INF,only when I delete both MOJANG files in it.

I sometimes get this, just run Xau's HD texture patcher and use the RUN function from that to start the game up. Seems to work fine for me, doesn't require you to install a texture pack or anything.

From what I can tell, this does not need ModLoader. I've never run mod loader and this works fine.

Also, by far best class mod ever. EVER. As much as I like WildGrass, this tops it. Well, maybe it's the same level as MrMessiah's AO mod. AO+Handheld=

Unfortunately I have an error to report.

So I rise just above the surface with a Breathing Apparatus mod Pumpkin on my head and a torch in my hand.
I see that I have a pesky block of dirt on my action bar, so I scroll to it and prepare to press q and drop it, but for some reason just as I press q minecraft freezes. It coughs up an error:

Hi,

Great mod, only one thing... Could you merge this and auto equip together so that they can be used in conjunction together? I really love auto equip as it's very convenient, as is this Handheld Torch and would love to be able to use both mods together.

That's happening on a clean client. I'm running Linux and using Archive Manager which hasn't caused problems with other mods. One interesting thing of note. I made a backup of minecraft.jar before installing the mod. After it crashed I replaced the .jar I had installed the mod into with the backup and it still crashed.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

Now it probably doesn't help that I have quite a few mods on. I only get this error when i add the HandheldTorchLight mod. If you don't want to help i'll understand. Thanks for your time.
