I never had a chance to play WildGrass because by the time I became aware of it, I was already on an updated version of MineCraft. That said, when I saw the screens it looked REALLY GOOD, and I have been coming here almost daily to check if you were still going to continue with development.
I'm also interested that you have decided to keep the "aesthetic approach" instead of trying to adapt to Notch's tallgrass. I'm sure for vines, lillies etc. it will work quite well, but for the grass itself, won't users get confused as to which grass gives seeds and which is purely aesthetic?

Notch's grass sprites would not change, so there would visually be a difference between the TallGrass and the WildGrass. Instead of this however, I will probably make a separate version of WildGrass that is based on Notch's grass, to please both sides of the field.

Thanks for the reply. I had assumed (presumably incorrectly, if I understand you) that most texture packs had just taken the sprites they had been using for WildGrass and used them to represent Notch's TallGrass. If this is not the case and texture packs support both WildGrass AND TallGrass sprites, I suppose a purely aesthetic approach could still work if the sprites were distinct enough. A version based on the TallGrass block, but with your nice aesthetics like vines/lillies might still be better though.
At any rate, I wish you the best of luck with this and your other endeavors. Till then, I'll keep watching here for future updates. :smile.gif:
That is basically a rip-off of my mod. He even uses my sprites.

it was meant to bring notch’s grass and yours together. first he only posted it in this thread, announcing it as „crappy copy of wildgrass“, as long as you don’t update.
but then he quickly made it into something different: while your mod is simply aesthetic, he incorporated your spreading grass into notch’s grass.
you took that down the wrong pipe. it’s more like a tribute to your wild grass mod.
PS: you should fix the bbcode-lists in the main post, the forum update ****ed them up.

Yes I do plan on doing this as an alternate wild grass. (That is why I was a little peeved with that other mod, and yes I know he only did it while waiting for this one)

Yes modloader is a must too... airplane mod. I hate wating for someone to make a patch for bettergrass and wildgrass. I find myself waiting and stalking the forums for this instead of playing the game like I am now... waiting for wildgrass.

maybe one of you can set up a version control system repo somewhere where both of you have push rights, and you work on the same codebase?
this way, you can easily share similar functions and easily create one mod which is customizable to use one or both approaches:
wildgrass & better tall grass (two varieties of grass which behave equal, but one version yields no seeds)
wildgrass (tall grass is unchanged from the native version)
wildgrass & no tall grass (get seeds by hoeing flat grass, high grass is only for aesthetics)
better tall grass only

I've got the Wild Grass mod updated to 1.6.6!
There is no modloader compatible version yet, but there is a server mod.
I will be updating the Vines and Lily pads tomorrow and then begin work on some new stuff including utilizing the TallGrass in some way.
That was just my mistake, I forgot to change the label. It is for 1.6.6 don't worry.

It looks nice since the tall grass is thicker than wild grass, and it just overall mixes together quite well.
