Special Thanks to Dilla and Corver for converting these in my absence. I want to appologize to the community for being gone for so long. A lot of things came up, and I had to shift my priorities. 9.2 is simply the combined version that Corver put together. I will still continue developing the new features that we have planned, like vines and seaweed. Again thank you so much.
And to everyone else, I have not abandoned this mod, and will once again continue development of it, and all the other great features like vines and seaweed everyone has wanted.
I am getting confusion with 'More Ores'.
Bit maps from that mod are showing up instead of grass.
'More Ores' is configurable.
Anyone know which item/block codes to stay away from.
(the numbers 116 to 128 come to mind, but foggy...)
Welcome back! I'm glad to have been able to help. I love the effect this mod has on the game, and I look forward to seeing how it develops in the future.

You need the edited ModLoader.class I posted earlier (see that post for an explanation of what's going wrong). That file is also present in the v9.2 archive if you're installing one of the ModLoader-compatible versions of Wild Grass. Make sure you've installed ModLoader first, then the corresponding version of Wild Grass as described in the readme.
First of all, thank you ejhopkins for making an essential mod for Minecraft!
Secondly, I *think* there are two issues with WildGrass. The first issue is when using the newest patch, 9.2, on Minecraft 1.3_01 on a Windows Vista, 32-bit OS with 4GB RAM Core2Duo CPU (512MB Geforce 8400M), I get the "Black Screen of Death" after a few minutes of play. Looking closer, I see that the minecraft java process uses over 1GB of RAM and I get an "Out of Error" message in java. Is there a memory leak in the latest version of WildGrass at the moment? I am using vanilla Minecraft just with your mod installed (no other mods). If I try vanilla Minecraft I have no issues - memory usage always stays under 1GB.
The other issue is that it seems the flower on the lily pads is no longer being rendered? I just see the lily pad itself, not the pink flower on top of it.
Any possibility of getting a SMP version that works with Bukkit and multiple plugins?
Also I have to mention I absolutely LOVE your mod for SP and SMP. The 128 realistic pack I have makes it look like a square real world survival game. It's SOOOO awesome.
Doesn't work btw. When I open minecraft, after that logo, the game goes into black screen.
Did you remember to delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar? That is the most common cause of black screens on startup
Yes, I use TFC mod manager which deletes it automatically, and it wasn't there when I checked...
I would recommend backing up your current modded minecraft.jar and downloading a fresh one. Install only this mod on it without using TFC and see if you can get it to work that way on a new world. (just don't load any saves) If it does, then it is something with TFC that doesn't allow my mod to work properly. Once your test is complete, just switch back to your other modded minecraft.jar

Once again, thanks for this awesome mod!
I'm looking into this now. The steps I'm taking to try to reproduce this problem are:
1) Forcing an update in the launcher to get a unmodified minecraft.jar.
2) Opening the jar and deleting the META-INF folder.
3) Copying the files from inside the "client" folder of the v9.2 archive into the jar.
4) Starting Minecraft, creating a new world, and running around for about 15 minutes.
I'm using 32-bit Windows XP with Java version 1.6.0_24. I've been keeping an eye on the output from the F3 debug information screen while moving around in the world. In the top-right corner, there's a readout showing something like "Used memory: 15% (152 MB) of 989 MB". I'm not seeing the memory used increase beyond a certain point. Generally, it may go up to almost 300MB used, but always drops back down to about 100MB when garbage collection kicks in. The mod doesn't appear to have a memory leak under these conditions.
Are you loading one of your existing worlds when you encounter this problem? Do you see it happen in a new world? What do you see with the memory use display?
For the lily pads, only red flowers placed on water will show pink flowers on the pads. Yellow flowers show the lily pad alone.

I try to Activate the Grass mod in a multiplayer LAN server with the Minecraft_server.jar
But when i connect i can play nearly 5 mins and my minecraft close automatic!
Do anyone know why?
Sounds like you could be having the same problem as kyle788. Could you describe how you are installing this mod? Do you have any other mods installed in either your minecraft.jar or minecraft_server.jar? Do you have the client mod installed in your minecraft.jar when you're connecting to the modded server?
Have you experienced the same problem in single-player worlds?
Lilypads are supposed to be working in the current version, right? Because I've explored all over the place and haven't seen a single one. Are they restricted to only a few specific biomes? Do they only spawn in a certain depth of water?
My main map has a few nice, shallow ponds I'd love to have lilypads in, but I guess it's not in the right biome for them to appear :\
edit: read the post above mine. I'm glad they can be placed manually, then :biggrin.gif:

I am using Java version 1.6.0_24 as well. Using the F3 debug output I never see anything more than 240MB (of 989MB) and regularly see it drop down to ~100MB. However, when the java process nears 1GB it still blackscreens (I was watching the debug window when it happened and it was around 230-240MB used out of 989MB when it crashed. It seems that when java allocates the full 989MB it crashes? I have plenty of memory left over from my 4GB though...
I am using an existing world. I will try a new world when I get the chance.
Also my bad regarding the lily pads - a poor oversight on my part. For some reason post 1.3_01 I have only been using yellow flowers and I never noticed that red and yellow flowers give different effects. It is not broken and it was totally my mistake.
Now it hasn't crashed in the last 20 minutes. Before it was crashing regularly every 5 minutes or so and I haven't made any changes. Browsing through the minecraft forums, it looks like other people are having random blackscreen crashes after the 1.3 update so maybe this has nothing to do with WildGrass. Its just when I had no mods installed it never crashed and since using WildGrass with 1.3 I had regular crashes every ~5 minutes. I'm not sure what is triggering the blackscreen crashes now. I'm pretty sure it is a memory issue somehow though as when it does Blackscreen java spits out the GL error "Out of Memory" (I'm running the .jar via java.exe to get the Java output).
Thanks corver for looking into it though. Sorry if I wasted your time.

No problem. I did make a few attempts to see if I could replicate what you experienced, but the game just won't behave that way in my case. Even limiting the game to 256MB from the command line didn't cause Minecraft to crash with a memory error. I probably don't understand enough about Java to be able to trace this issue further.
Since you mention a GL error, the only other thing I might guess at would be something to do with video memory. Any commonality between your graphics card/drivers and those used by others with this problem? That's beyond me, though. I hope you'll find a solution eventually.
corver: I'm going to try another computer later to see if I can replicate it. If you can't replicate it then it can't be this mod and it is probably something to do with the 1.3 update affecting certain video cards or the like. Maybe WildGrass just exacerbates the situation and causes to crash sooner (as it is rendering more things) as I haven't been able to replicate the crash with vanilla Minecraft.
I also tried to dowload ONLY this mod on fresh .jar, but the game still went into black screen. That also happened when I tried to copy the files to minecraft_server.jar (it said "server file is corrupted"). I must be doing something wrong here, but I have no idea what. I'm just trying to copy those files from the modloader v4/client folder and paste them to .jar but black screen -.-
Well, there are three things that could be considered.
1) Did you delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar when installing the mod manually?
2) Is it possible that you've just got a corrupted download of the mod? Try downloading it again.
3) What program are you using to open the minecraft.jar and add the new files? I only use 7zip, but I've heard that WinRAR might work.
For minecraft_server.jar, you're copying the files from inside the "server" folder of the v9.2 archive, I assume? Are you using the standard minecraft server from minecraft.net? I have not tested these server files with either hMod or bukkit, so I don't believe they are supported.

does wild grass v9.2 work with modloader v4 or v5?
The current release only includes modloader v4 compatibility.
Edit: If you need to use v5, here's a temporary patch to allow Wild Grass and ModLoader v5 to coexist: http://www.mediafire.com/?114dqccdccrhsc7. Install Wild Grass v9.2 and ModLoader, and then copy in the appropriate set of files from this archive.
