Can you make it so that the grass is flammable? When I burn out the trees around my new home it would be great to have some of the wild grass burn out too when appropriate.
It's hard not to redistribute when there is an entire forum dedicated to Mapping & Modding. Honestly, stop ruining a great mod.
Thanks ejhopkins, the new version works great. Can't wait to release my new biomes. =D
Wow, that looks cool!

NO matter what i do i can not get this mod to work...am i doing something wrong? I download the Mod loader thingy, use the patcher, and run minecraft, and when i load a world it just freezes? HELP PLEASE!!!
Did you remove Meta-Inf? did you install correctly? Try using 8.5.1 for now. I still have it posted, it is drag and drop.

Found a weird bug but didn't think to take a screenie at the time.
Wild sugarcane in newly generated chunks is appearing with the lowest section missing and wild grass in it's place.
I'll have to look into that. Thanks. No screenshot needed.

could you also post an easy link to the modloader? Kind of bipolar aren't I?
Sure thing.

I thought about this when I first started this mod, but I think it would be too crazy. Besides, since the grass is actually just part of the dirt/grass block, it would make that block flaming, and I don't want to have to go crazy with the code to just allow the grass blades to light on fire. I think it will be too much work for something that most people would end up hating, especially when their house burned down from a lava pit 30 feet away.
Wait. When the patcher is up, can you have a "custom" terrain.png option?
If you mean actually like choosing between the terrain.png file and using the wildGrass single textures, then yes, that will be an option. Basically you will choose either a modloader version, or a non-modloader version.
Thanks i forgot though...I am using an HD 32 x 32 texture pack that has its own set of terrain files....And how would you install the old one? PLease help i want this sooo sooo bad!!! Ps. My meta inf file only exist in the file minecraft 1.12_02 ans _01 not in the extracted version of the normal minecraft jar file

If you would be using modloader, then you will want a separte folder wildGrass with each individual 32x32 png file inside, look for it in minecraft.jar after patch. Without modloader the images would simply be in their normal location on the terrain.png file, but texture pack artists would have to include it on their terrain.png in their texture pack. I will hopefully try to find a way to do this for them automatically in the future, so they don't need it on both.
If you wan't to install 8.5.1 just drag and drop the appropriate files into your minecraft.jar and delete META-INF if it is there. You will want to try it on an unmodded minecraft to make sure you are doing it right, then try it with other mods. With other mods, it isn't guaranteed to work.
this dose not work on mac and when i do it by hand it wont work with better light and better grass the dirt and grass block are invisible. plz help me !
meant to look like
what it dose look like!!

You're not meant to just copy & paste the included .class files into minecraft.jar (since they only include ejhopkins' code, and so you're effectively removing game code, hence the invisible blocks). At the moment there's no shell script version of the patcher but apparently Drakulix is working on one. If not I might upload the one that I hacked together (using daxnitro's install.sh from the GLSL shaders mod as a base).
i tryed it on pc with the installer and with and with out different things
What is happening is that you are copying the files for grass qp.class and those changes are there, which sets the render type to 90, when normally it is 1. The problem is that in my bt.class, it can handle that "90" number, but in the original it doesn't know what to draw, therefore draws nothing. Somehow you are not installing the bt.class (are you steeling the classes from the patchers "file" folder?"), or you are overwriting it with something like Better Light, and therefore removing exactly what is used to draw grass.
The files included in the patcher are not meant for Drag and drop. Use 8.5.1 for that.
Make sure you are using the 8.5.1 vanilla version, and DO NOT install anything else. You will see that it will work. AFTER you do that, if you want BL+BG, Use MrMessiah's patcher, and THEN copy my files in.
I dislike the new patcher. It doesn't work with Optimine 100% (the mod loader over-writes one of optimine's class files) and the process for including custom grass textures takes longer than any other minecraft related thing I've done to date besides making my own tweaks to a texture pack.
The default grass texture is ugly and replacing it is a royal PITA. See below for how to replace it for a 32x32 texture pack only.

That said drag and drop these alternative grass files into the right spot. 32x32 support only.
So you wake up on a beach one day, and remember NOTHING. (Except your degree teachings in Engineering, Wilderness Survival, Metal work, Physics, Tech, Psychology, History, Dynamics, and Blocks.) You mine and build and survive for years and years.
This Mod now uses a patcher to create the mod files. It automatically detects ModLoader and Better Grass and Better light, and creates all the appropriate files.
Not your traditional patcher.
Run the patcher, and then all you need to do is drag and drop like normal.
Please let me know if things aren't working right.
NOTE! when the patcher makes a version compatible with Better Light, it does not fix the bug that causes dirt sides of grass to render green! This is a bug with BetterLight NOT WildGrass

Hey, that's a clever way to do it. Saves you the trouble of hosting/maintaining a bunch of different versions, saves users the trouble of figuring out which files they need. As long as they're smart enough to run your patcher after they've already installed modloader, betterlight and bettergrass. (we seriously need a more consistent mod API, jesus)
I haven't seen the betterlight side grass rendering bug you mention, though, unless you mean the one that causes the sides of grass not to get shaded by biome like the tops, which has been around since notch added biomes in the first place and has nothing to do with betterlight..

edit: Basically I am just bitching because minecraft needs official modding support.
Also adding great atmosphere to the game and making it more realistic.
Keep up with the good work :biggrin.gif:

I have modloader, BL and BG installed and checked all the patcher options.
Repeat daily for confidence boost.
I believe it only uses terrain.png if you do not have ModLoader installed.
