I've finally caved and decided to try WorldEdit on my creative builds, as it would be a great timesaver, but I see there is still a lot of updating to do. I imagine this 1.3 merging of SP and SMP has made it a bit difficult, but I know little about coding. Good luck!
Has development been stopped or something, given that the mod has been made redundant by Cheat Mode in Minecraft 1.3?
This mod is still being developed, it just takes a lot of time considering the new internal server changes from 1.2.5 to 1.3. Besides, some of the many things that this can add to Cheat Mode is:
1. Mass Mob spawning.
3. NoClip: Very useful for 1x1x1 redstoning.
4. Variable flight options, like Dynamic or Minecraft style.
5. Skin command, for fun.
6. /freeze and the /damage commands, to control mobs and damage. Similar to Creative, but you can go as deep into the Void as you can without dying.
7. Keybinds, but you can use the Macro/Keybinds mod.
8. /defuse command, because using water can ruin redstone and torches.
9. Setting the spawnpoint, the REAL way. Not putting an "invisible bed," but by making it permanent.
10. /killall, to remove all entities like lag-inducing stacks of blown up blocks.
This mod is very useful with Better Dungeons. It makes it so much easier dealing with bosses, particularly when you go into a fight with one and have less than full diamond armor.
Freezing mobs in place is usually what I will do if things get too tough for me in an area.
Flying is another thing I will do a lot with this mod. I also use waypoints a lot. They can help if you get lost in caves or the Nether.
And WorldEdit makes building easier especially if you are short on resources. I use the Super Pickaxe (single block mode) quite often. Note if you have other mods that create tools, this option will not work with them, only with the vanilla Minecraft blocks used to make tools.
But you can enchant other mods' tools with it.
I did notice something strange with this mod and Better Dungeons - if you are holding a weapon made from this mod, like the Monking Sword, you won't be able to spawn as many mobs if that item is in your hotbar. I was holding this sword (it has infinite durability) and using it to kill Blazes I froze in the Nether, and could only get 2 or 3 max. regardless of the number I had told SPC to spawn. I don't know if this only occurs with the Monking Sword - it does not do it with a Longbow.
Edit: this appears to only occur with Blazes in the Nether. I tried it with zombies, both frozen and not frozen, and with sheep, and got the number I asked for.
This sword is made from 3 Monking Bones, which you obtain from killing Monkings (Monkey Kings). These are found in forest biomes, can throw blocks at you, and can make explosions.
As for the topic being unlocked, hopefully others will follow forum rules and not ask for updates. Something similar happened in the Direwolf20 Let's Play Season 4 topic because too many people were asking for mod installation support when they were asked to post in the mod support topic instead.
