Are you familiar enough with thiscode to make it address a unique file to pull textures from?
This would greatly increase the available artwork space available and greatly simplify adding artwork to be used for this mod.
So, if you could make this pull textures from file /.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar/art/morePaintings.png or from file /.minecraft/texturepacks/ACTIVEtexturePack.jar/art/morePaintings.png if it's available ( you'd have to read the currently loaded pack somewhere ) then you could distribute a default morePaintings.png file all ready to use with this mod. It would just override the default paintings, but not alter the actual kz.png file at all.
I'd be willing to create a template file for the morePaintings.png and even populate it with some of my textures if you want. I have red full length curtains, drapes, vents, stained glass windows, large tapestries... well... I should just link my kz file...
This is the default spaces only. I haven't finished my morePaintings.png version yet. This is recent and large tapestries haven't been checked in-game yet. I need to re-learn what pixel needs to be transparent for the sides and backs to be clear. Oh, and that sconce with candles idea sucked. Looks ridiculous.
Can someone/s post some art compilations for this mod? I, and I'm sure others, suck at finding/making pictures that would look good/right in mc's display and fit/resize to the right sizes.
As a secondary request, the 'household items' kz.png that is an option with Painterly pack, would someone be able to add more items to that for this?
a little help would be appreciated. installed the mod (Xtreme edition) added some paintings to it.
Put the files in the minecraft.jar as specified. now when i got to place a painting in game it crashes to desktop. other than trying to place a painting the game runs fine...
Just popped my mod cherry with this; I've been dying for more paintings. It took me forever to figure out what program on a mac to open a .jar with without extracting it (BetterZip), but its working perfectly now.

Here is the .png I made. Its a mashup of painterlys Monet and Household Items with some new Monet paintings tossed in. Not sure if I am totally happy with all of the tiles (the iris' are REALLY big), so I may post a modified version later.

I like how Notch cares about peoples religions... then again, I guessed if he called the Hell-ish place 'America' it wouldn't do much justice either...
This really is an amazing mod! It should also become the repository for everyone's painting set. A kind of super art gallery for people to visit to find what they'd like to hang on their walls.
Many thanks again.:smile.gif:
[edit] Another great addition to this, would be an editor that would allow folks to pick and choose individual paintings to make up their own set. Tricky, I know, but it has been done before in low res. :smile.gif:
With this, the randomization of placing paintings is eschewed for being able to move back and forth through a static list. When you place a painting it will always start at a certain one (the 1x1 flower pot), but you can move back and forth by punching the portrait without a tool in hand. (To move backwards in the list you punch while sneaking, and to break the painting off you hit it with a tool -- pickaxe or whatever).
This saves SO MUCH TIME. No more constantly breaking down and replacing paintings for minutes on end before you find what you need. You don't even have to break them down to cycle them anymore -- JUST CLICK.
After using it for awhile, you get a feel for where certain paintings are in the list and can cycle to them very fast. It might also help to arrange your favorite paintings (in the kz.png) around the center one.

YES! YES! YES! These are the kind of features I'm hoping will be added to the main game. More awesome paintings, scrolling through them; such little features, that really spruce the game up.
This mod looks fantastic, but it's not working correctly for me for some reason. I double-checked my kz.png, and it's definitely the right one, but I'm getting purple boxes for the new paintings instead of new paintings. Any idea what's wrong?
Edit: I'm using 1.2.6 still for mod compatibility.

Are you using a custom texture pack?
Is said custom texture pack bigger than the standard 16x tiles?
Is your custom kz.png in the texture pack, or in minecraft.jar?
If you answered yes to the first and jar to the third, put the kz.png in your texture pack.
If you answered yes to the first and second, resizr kz.png to match (x2 - 200% - for 32x, x4 - 400% - for 64x, x8 - 800% - for 128x, iirc)
Does anyone know how to remove polls?
You can resize and edit the kz.png as much as you want the mod will still work

My decorative options are through the roof now.
