The FPS problems are almost certainly because I changed how it looks up blocks. in the new minimapcolors file you can configure what blocks are shown as what, so if another mod adds blocks, then while I won't support them, it's easy for you to add them. it also supports colored cloth now, but I don't provide color mappings for it because I, uh, forgot.
I didn't realize this! Thank you for the tip. :biggrin.gif:
Hey Lahwran, Just a quick question, I've been using this map for a long time but this time I've noticed a 200fps drop when I have it installed, is this common? Usually between 250-300 this drops it to 40-50 and gets kinda choppy, take it out and its back up again. Just wondering :smile.gif:
As for these graphical problems... glass could've always been that way and I never noticed, so clearly this isn't an issue. As for fps problems, I'm pretty sure this is just minecraft being minecraft. It's not Lahwran's fault the game is power hungry, that's on notch. I'm on fancy graphics, limit framerate, view bobbing, normal render, smooth lighting, advanced OpenGL, and 128x graphics for the game and dynamic lighting, terrain depth, and threading for the map with 256MB of VRAM, 4GB of RAM, and a 2.53GHz dual core processor and everything runs at a tolerable level. My computer isn't terrible, but it's not a gaming rig either.
In short, Lahwran can't do anything about it and notch won't do anything about it, so if your FPS problems are that bad turn down your graphics. Problem solved.

however, since the new system has 16 times more possible colors, it takes about 16 times longer to look them up. It's not actually that cut and dried, but that's the general source of the problem. If you have two processors, I strongly recommend turning on threading, as with multiple cores it *will* speed your game up.

For people with FPS problems, have you tried turning on Threading in the options menu? That solved my FPS drop when using the minimap...
BUT
When I turn threading on my game locks up and crashes straight to desktop after a couple minutes of play. Never had problems before.
I want to see why it's crashing! you mind running it in the console?
To anyone I didn't reply to: there were too many replies for me to get them all this time. Try PMing me, though if it's something stupid I'll ignore you :smile.gif:
Turning on threading seems to have fixed the problem I had with FPS dropping by 200fps with the map installed. It is back up to normal now, no crashes after an hour of play so I'm guessing that I am in the clear. Thx Lohwran :smile.gif:

I just found out why the minimap only worked once in the game(after I installed it) and stopped working after that first time....
I got a new .jar and installed only modloader and minimap, both worked.... Then I installed HD patcher Beta, minimap stopped working. Is there a way to make it so minimap works even after patching?

I need to update biome terrain for bukkit, as I depend on it for my server and my server needs updating -now-. after that I'll update guiapi and worldeditcui, should both be fast updates. then I'll put everything up on github. then I'll see if I can get the minimap a bit faster before I go back to working on anti-xray.

thank you for updating mini map it worked fine yester day all day then today after my windos seven updated the mini map started crashing minecraft and the error message flashes to fast to see it hope this is fixed soon
1.5_01 Minimap makes my Minecraft freeze in Bukkit SMP after a minute of playing. Not sure if it's just Bukkit, but I haven't played on a vanilla server with it
I'm still having trouble getting the minimap to work. I've installed Modloader and the minimap in my bin folder and everything but when I begin the game there is still no minimap
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but Minimap installs and runs fine until
I press Z to change the zoom, and on 0.5 zoom it lags out really badly. Seems ok on all
other settings but 0.5 is terrible...
Cheers,
TG

Just a bit of info after testing today determined that the threading option seems to be having issues since with it enabled nI have good framerate but then it CTD's after a minute. with it disabled I get choppy rendering but it's doesn't crash the client. might be a conflict with MC's new graphics options.

Press M and Enable Threading, it might be causing the CTDs though, see the post above.
I didn't realize this! Thank you for the tip. :biggrin.gif:
If you scroll down towards the end of the post you'll find 0.9.8 with a bit.ly link. That being said, I had no problem with adfly myself.

Hands down, the best texture pack.
