nice mod just who ever has problems with the animals freezing its that the sound isnt being loaded add the mod folder to resources/newsound. thats it. AWESOME MOD!

The freezing isn't caused by the mod loader. It's caused by improperly placing the sound files. The mod can work just fine with mod loader, but mod loader CANNOT work with the mod. Items added using the mod loader will no longer have any sprites.
Great mod but I found 2 bugs, I'm not 100% sure if this happens to all the animals but with the wolf you can't hit it with just your fist your have to be holding a tool or a brick. Also the wolf is aggressive in the day and not at night, little backwards.

Yeah I've got it running ok. You definitely should make it more clear in your first post that the mods folder in newsounds is the one you want to put in the newsound folder. I'm guessing peeps are putting the oggs, or the whole newsounds folder in there.
Pretty much anything loaded by modloader isn't running though. like powerup said the mi and fo classes need to be merged, or worked out in some other way. I'm just playing around on a copy of my save with vanilla tools and no issues so far.
The models and textures work great, the bear is really nice. I'm glad you got your snout issue fixed. Porting that to a polar bear would just need a re-skin, and changing its spawn area to snow, or ice.
I've noticed you have to be very close to a lion to trigger it, like just a few steps. It was all staring at me as I creeped up to it, then it pounced. I should have had better than a stone sword on me, because I bit it. It seems like a good distance to make it easy enough to move around during the day, but it could be one or more blocks bigger if you ask me. I haven't aggro'ed a bear yet, but I will once I get a diamond sword put together.
The animals spawn in bigger groups than I expected, but I like that too, it makes sense for the pack animals. If you can control pack size though, bears should really be like 1-2 mobs spawned at a time, since they are solitary animals. If I could make a suggestion, you should have a lioness model, and have them set up just like the lion is now, and have the lion model as a mob that only spawns a single mob, and give it an aggro range of maybe 2 or more blocks greater than it is currently. That would be a lot more like how lions work in real life. The females do the hunting, the males just hang around defending their territory.
I haven't seen a wolf yet, but I'm not much of a night explorer. I can hear some near my base during the day though.
I'm guessing they are in one of the caves here that has grass creeping back into a dark area. I'll go investigate, and see what happens when you meet a wolf in a dark cave during the day.
soooo... I just tried your mod on an already heavily modded minecraft.jar and I still got it to work fine with some minor problems... your mi.class for some reason messes with the graphics for half of the items from other mods for some reason (I don't do java, I can't tell why)... The behavior of the animal is right, wolf attacks you at night, lion attacks you when close, bear attacks when provoked... that's all working fine even on a heavily modded minecraft.jar... it's just the graphics being messed up :<... after that's fixed your mod will be perfect @_@
eh epic but after a minute of starting the game freezes. ive started with a fresh jar and put all the folders in the right place...is it me or the mod?

its crashing beause u didnt put the sound folder in the right directory. where did u put the moD folder? wherever it is it needs to be in the resources/newsound folder next to ambiet fire and liquid folders.

Ah! Thanks so much! I followed the instructions, but as step seven reads, it should be in "\resources\newsounds" rather than "...\resources\newsound". It's working wonderfully now. Hopefully at some point that typo is fixed :biggrin.gif:

That's funny - it worked for me by putting the supplied MOD folder into the existing /resources/newsound folder.
The mod works great - fantastic, actually, and adds not only more variety in the world, but added gameplay as well.
You done it good, DrZhark, and have rightfully earned your Minecraft's doctorate degree! Thanks for this mod and hopefully we can eventually get a version working with 303s loader so that the essential arrows mod will work with this.
Just as a suggestion, Bears should have cubs or something of the sort.
Maybe following them.
Getting too close/hitting a cub would cause the larger Bear to attack?

I think because the conflicting class files must handle the custom sprites and images for modloader mods.
