if you are still in 1.7.10 you can use JAS
btw, that maxgroup only affects the max that is called each time. it does not prevent mobs from spawning close together and over time creating a large group.
Sadly i am not on 1.7.10 anymore. I know that the maxgroup doesnt stop them from overstacking but these groups should be in one biome in the ocean not a pond..
And unfortunately JAS has not been updated to 1.1.0 yet.
I share your pain. On 1.7.10 I absolutely COULD NOT get CMS to properly spawn Twilight Forest mobs. Bosses spawned, but some of even those didn't spawn properly. (I remember fighting a headless hydra once.) It just wouldn't work. I switched to JAS and practically instantly, everything Just Worked (though I still occasionally got massive overspawns).
Don't get me wrong, CMS is a vital tool for doing what Mo'Creatures needs done. But on versions for which it is available, JAS is better.
(And Lycanite's Mobs can bite me. Intentionally and by design ignoring and overruling EVERY AND ALL mob spawning restrictions or prohibitions is just rude.)

yea i know, lycanites in its default config can be a pain.. but it can be configured to work out pretty well, which cms cant. I truly hope, that someone updates jas, so i dont have to use any of the spawnsystem introduced in cms or lycanites.
You didn't give a link to the beta 1.7.3 version, which is somewhat understandable. I was able to find it elsewhere anyway.
My problem is that that version of this mod requires GuiAPI, which cannot be found anywhere (MC Forum thread has broken links). Does anyone know of a link to this forgotten dependency mod?
And before anyone says "Just download the latest versions of mods", I must point out that I am trying to see which old beta 1.7.3 mods work with Cubic Chunks. Unless Barteks2x releases it for 1.11, I'm stuck with the only working one.
Disabling spawning and rates seem to be broken. It just spawns how it likes...
Yep. It's been that way with me for so long now.....I'm running 1.7.10 MC, and referencing a question another person asked you, yes, I use BoP worlds. I never had this issue before 1.7 though. I was even still able to get some of the spawning to work the way I want it to, some updates ago, while still using 1.7.10 and BoP. But....the last 2 updates I think? I'm pretty sure. Anyway, I gave up on anything spawning properly a while ago. I haven't seen wither skellies in the Nether in at least a year or maybe two. Water creatures only generate in the exact chunks that I spawn into the world in. Can't disable ENTs or Moles....I've just gotten used to it, unfortunately.
I figure hey, hopefully it'll all get sorted out eventually. As stable as most mods are with 1.7.10 by now, I've found all too many that still have constant issues like this.
Regardless, this is hands down, one of my absolute favorite mods. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. It enriches the MC world more than any other mod I've seen. Superb work.

ok, I have no problems with disabling mobs and I'm in 1.7.10.
since you have BoP are you messing with the config files in the overwold folder or the SurfaceBoP folder? cause you need to mess with the config files in the SurfaceBoP folder. It is a weird interaction with BOP that I have no idea why it happens.
first set the freq to 0 on the mobs you don't want to spawn, then use the /cms killall command to get rid of the ents and moles. If setting freq to 0 doesn't work, empty their biome group list as well.
as far as wither skellies....that has one of two solutions:
1. add the hell biome to the skelly biome group list in the nether folder, this will cause wither skellies to appear all over the place
2. use the command /gamerule doMobSpawning true whenever you go into the nether, you will have to do this every time you restart your game and you'll have to turn it off when you leave the nether, but it would enable the vanilla spawn system to activate.
with water creatures, for some reason they have a super restricted biome group list by default, I just go ahead and put every biome in those lists.
I have a problem, I'm not sure if anyone else has but your mobs still spawn even when I set mob spawning to false and 90% of all mobs are set to not spawn in the in-game menu. any ideas on how to make sure nothing spawns but I can spawn things with eggs?
no, just wondering.
the canspawn doesn't always work. set the freq of the animals you don't want spawning to 0. if that doesn't work, then go into the biome group list config file and empty it for all the mobs you don't want to spawn.
btw, adjusting the settings won't kill any existing mobs, you'll have to use the command /cms killall. it will only work for the mob you designate. if you type it empty it will show you the list.
btw, do you have BOP?

Having trouble playing a LAN world with my sister. We both have the mod. She join and we play for a few mins, then the whole world crashed. Please Help!
I have Mo' Creatures with CMS installed and Lithial's Bloodmoon mod installed. Is there anywhere to get this to work with Bloodmoon so the mob frequency increases during Bloodmoons?
