I posted a bit before about this... but the ticking screen, tick exception, blah blah problems, after brainstorming with my hosting support for several hours, are being caused by the Linux hosting, and how it handles the tcp packets being sent out versus a windows system. Which explains why I can run this flawlessly on my home computer, but when I try to toss it on my private online test server, it disconnects any client machine trying to connect to it. From what I was told, it's how the information is packaged together, and they've been getting a ton of emails asking for support on their linux based machines not understanding why it doesn't work, but works on their home microsoft machines.
Just some food for thought. I can run this, and extrabiomesXL (which everyone says has issues) and quite literally 160 other mods at once on my home, WIn7 64 system. The linux server can also run it, without crashing, but any client connecting recieves a ticking screen or similar problem in this line:
at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.EntitySpawnPacket.execute(EntitySpawnPacket.java:175)
at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLNetworkHandler.handleFMLPacket
Which I guess has to do with how the server is sending out new entities spawning into the world. Linux servers botch up the packets and clients get booted since they handle the information a bit differently. (Will happen randomly if the server is running under normal load, but as soon as it gets up to full steam with alot of people/chunks loaded, it sends these derped up packets out constantly and boots the clients.) I confirmed this on 4 different linux based servers, as well as my home linux test server.
I'd be interested to know if other people having the same error messages as I've been getting are trying to run off a linux system.
Interesting, perhaps you could post this information into the forge forums? They will be able to fix the issue in the future
Can anyone else chime in on the "DespawnVanilla" & "ModifyVanillaSpawns" entries not updating in 4.5.1? It should be very easy to reproduce:
Change those values in the MoCreatures.cfg that appears in the config directory of ".minecraft" to false.
Restart Minecraft and check those values.
Rechange them to false ingame.
Restart Minecraft and see the values reset to True again.
I have stuck to 4.5.0 for now as this issue doesn't happen for me then.
You should add monkeys, they drop little crumbs and when killed they drop banannas which are used to tame them, it whould be cool if they take food out of your hand when your holding it too.
what whould be AWESOME with monkeys in mo creatures
the same forge recommended minecraftforge-universal-1.4.7-6.6.0.497 i always get black screen when i use forge which is frustrating cause i've been wanting mo'creatures since it was 4.0.1 back when minecraft was 1.3.2 but i never have been able i even tried another mod that needed forge and same result black screen. all of the mods that need forge give me black screen.
Have you tried a fresh start?
Make a folder on your desktop called backup.
Open your .minecraft folder.
Move everything from .Minecraft into the backup folder (.Minecraft is now empty).
Start Minecraft, then at menu exit Minecraft.
Open Minecraft.jar and delete meta-inf folder.
Drop in all the Forge 6.6.0.497 files.
Close the jar and start Minecraft.
Does Minecraft run?
If it does then its an old file, maybe a config etc messing things up, just drop GuiApi into your coremods folder then drop Mo 4.5.1 and CMS 1.11 into your mods folder, start Minecraft. (If no mods or coremods folders you can just make them).
If it still doesnt work then just delete whats in your .minecraft and drag all the files from your backup folder back into your .minecraft folder. You are back where you started.
I heard this idea a ways back by someone else, i take no credit for it, but would like to repost the idea here.
Goblin Tribes
They spawn like npc villages except gobliny, and the goblins attack you when you get too close. The goblins would have varying levels of difficulty (indicated by colours on their person), and would different attacks depending on their job in the tribe. There would be a reward for eradicating a goblin village.
I also love the monkey idea. Maybe they could swing from vines and jungle leaves!
This seems to run quite nicely on mcpc-plus-1.4.7 the bukkit-forge server. Now to find a way to heal the damage done by some of the nasties in my home areas. running it under linux as a local LAN server.
Kids love the extra beasts, not so sure about the golem ( is it ) ouch bloody nasty had three form at once in a sheep farm area, Managed to restore the damage using wordedits snapshots restore , but ended up with some extra wool ( bye bye sheep)
Very nice mod
Is there some way to prevent them spawning in specified areas, im poking around with bukkit plugins but many dont recognise the new mobs.
Perhaps the addition of some custom stone with adjustable radius to prevent forming in towns ??
just a thought
My mate had a shock when one formed outside his house , goodbye house
Is this mod compatible with mystcraft? I've heard in the comments a couple times that it's not, and I'm thinking of installing mystcraft but won't if it glitches out mo'creatures ( gotta prioritize my mods ). Could someone please tell me if it's compatible?
Amazing. Can't play minecraft without it. I have one problem. Would you please remove those cats or at least make them better. I hate the emotions that show and the cat bed and litter box are so glichy. Please just fix this problem and this will be the best mod ever. 4 Diamonds for you. - - -
If you don't like the Kitties, you can set the spawn rate lower or even to 0 (to turn them off altogether) under the Options | Animals section. If it's just the emoticons, you can also turn just those off under the Options | Other Settings (I think) section.
