A couple of questions and maybe ideas...
Is there a way to modify which blocks that the tornados destroy, and the chance that any one block of that type will get sucked. I want to run this on a server and I'd like to make it fairly realistic in what they will pick up. For example; I want the windows in houses to blow out obviously, as they would in real life. except for degrees of reinforced glass added in other mods. And maybe wood is vulnerable to but only to a small degree and depends on intensity. Is it possible for it to be made that it only takes the top layer of dirt/sand?
I plan to run on either 1.5.2 or 1.6.2 depending on whether or not I can make some degree of Bukkit plugins work. Is it possible to do it in those versions. I have watched many of MIke7493's Tornado Survival Series, and in Season 7 (where I believe he's running 1.5.2) he mentions that he's trying to change some of the blocks it picks up. Is this through modding the jar files or is it in the configuration files?
Otherwise, I plan to use it on what is pretty much a singleplayer world, and I have to say that I find the mod ingenious, full of potential, frankly terrifying, and awesome.
Issue with this mod being in the private minecraft pack called "OverLoad". The Steve's Carts Mod has a Simple PCB item for making solar panels and it has the exact crafting recipe as for the Tornado Sensor..
Any ideas, or thoughts on this?
Plus it seems when i'm on the ocean the tornado alarm always goes off even when there barely any wind in the game. What wrong with this??
Sorry about the lack of updates recently, some instability IRL messing with my focus as well as some work on other group projects needing to get caught up on. Hope to get back to business as usual with ZombieCraft soon. Sounds like theres some potential tornado spawning issues since my new config changes, I'll do some testing on my dev 1.6.4 version and see if theres issues, either way I'll probably push a proper 1.6.4 update soon for all mods, as it will need to be done for tropicraft 1.6.4 thats on the brink of release.
@epicbastion noted, I've added code to prevent that crash now in my dev version, expect a fix from the mod update push that should probably be happening within a few days.
@ThaxZombifiedxTech & others about weather recipe conflict with steves carts: I've decided to change the recipies so that they are more or less swapped, except that now the siren requires the sensor in the recipe, this should resolve the commonly known recipie conflict (to be out with mod push in few days)

Don't expect these visual improvements any time soon, not even sure if I want such a feature to be default on yet. I've got some good theory on it done though and I feel I have a good list of requirements to get a good minecraftized implementation of this vision:
(to be specific, the effect of seeing storms coming in from a distance, the rainfall effect for short and long range visuals, etc)

Tornado test 1, my dev 1.6.4 version on 1.6.4 mc: I set days between tornado to 0.1, and odds of tornado to 1, set /weather thunder 99999 and wait for the peak of the storm, a tornado spawned.
Next I guess I'll test the currently released 1.6.2 weather mod on 1.6.4 mc and go from there.
Edit 2: Actually, a friend who helps test a lot confirmed that hes had tornadoes spawn in his 1.6.2 version I gave him on sept 20th (it also has an improvement on using block strength grabbing in addition to the blacklist/whitelist, so you can add or remove from the default setup easier) .. So I will release that one for 1.6.2, and my latest dev one for 1.6.4.
Also, I guess I forgot to fix waterfall sounds, oops! I might investigate the issue of waterfall sounds at the bottom of oceans while I'm at it.
Edit 3: Endguy14 yeah looks like the mc brightness setting at lowest makes it dark like that, I'll have to take a look at how I setup the brightness for that agian, I had some better brightness code around here somewhere...

Woot! I've applied all the new brightness code from waves to my weather mod particles, looking more stable, and then I decided to tackle that really annoying render order issue of clouds vs tornado, now I'm really impressed!

Hello. I'm new to this mod... using it on my 1.6.4 games with some success but am getting crashes apparently due to a sound conflict. In fact I did notice a crash on a new game the moment Minecraft background music began. Here's the first few lines of the crash report, perhaps this will give you a clue as to what's going on... and that it may need some adjustment as you move into 1.6.4.

EDIT: One other note, I was just testing a handful of resource packs (intra-game) and each time I changed packs the game promptly crashed. I would then click "play" and go back to the game and all was well from that point onward.
Got a crash report for you on server, seems as though it conflicts if Mo' Creatures. Possibly something about the moving blocks hitting the creatures if I understand it right. Which would make sense since I just allowed it to start grabbing blocks (had that disabled while I started building it).

Yeah, the weather mod crashes the game if you change the resource pack during the game.
I mentioned it at length in my LP (I think it was 2 episodes ago), so just make sure to restart after changing the resource pack, and it works fine.
Thanks KrushBro, I'll have to check out your LP. I just saw your post over on the "chicken shed mod" forum; I'm going to incorporate that mod in my game too (I avoid "cheat" mods like the plague but that feather dropping mod seems more practical and realistic than cheat -- though I've yet to implement it.)
Anyway, I'm here because I have a question about the config file in this mod. Some configs are intuitive but not all, and I can't find an explanation for them in the OP or the website. I'd like to know the effects of changing the following configs (raising or lowering the number.)
Is there any way of protecting an area from tornados? Like a block you place that protects a chunk radius from tornado formation/movement?
The concept is nice, but when used combined with tech type mods, some blocks are vital. A tornado at the wrong time/place could be enough to rage quit some players
Some of us here play with big mod packs, and i haven't moved to 1.6.2 YET! Because not all popular mods are even 1.6.2 yet. Damn vanilla kiddies ruining the fun.

This may seem a strange question, but is there any way to be able to protect an area from the effects of a tornado using a force field mod like Advanced Repulsion System by Immibis, MFFS 2 - Classic by Minalien and Searge, or MFFS 3 by Calclavia? The problem that I am having is that the tornado just rips right through the blocks inside of the protected area like the force field isn't even there. I even tried blacklisting the block IDs of the force field blocks, hoping that it would respect them like a brick wall....but nope. Is there anyway to get this to work?
Delays delays delays. In past 2 days I was able to complete the rest of the little polish things I wanted to do for ZombieCraft, caught some critical bugs, improved player joining to playing game flow etc too, I'm doing some map editing and playtesting now, added mystery box to nacht. Its behavior isnt quite the same from ZC2 where you had to spend money to activate it, but in the next update push I might make it like that. Gonna be a map editors update unless I manage to get my WIP out with it!
Huuuuuuuuge ZombieCraft Map Maker update is out! I'm currently working on a map where the area ambushes you with imp spawning if you try to wander into it! Fun fun!
Weather mod has also gotten some nice lighting and recipe fixes, I removed the demo item recipes too, they are demo and we have creative mode since the recipes were added so yeah, I think the clouds are acting differently due to some WIP code, oops! Not too bad though.

Feeling really good about the ZombieCraft update! Did a thorough playtest with some friends last night and when you use the session block/gui, everything runs great and according to plan, no OP required on a server if you make the block with the recipe or use the ZC menu bind then go to lobby.
Hey, I think you should make time tornadoes which take you to different realms and place lit tnt in its path so you can get hurt in it along with the blocks it picks up. I think you should also add a timenado gun and a firenado gun.

Thanks KrushBro, I'll have to check out your LP. I just saw your post over on the "chicken shed mod" forum; I'm going to incorporate that mod in my game too (I avoid "cheat" mods like the plague but that feather dropping mod seems more practical and realistic than cheat -- though I've yet to implement it.)
Anyway, I'm here because I have a question about the config file in this mod. Some configs are intuitive but not all, and I can't find an explanation for them in the OP or the website. I'd like to know the effects of changing the following configs (raising or lowering the number.)

The concept is nice, but when used combined with tech type mods, some blocks are vital. A tornado at the wrong time/place could be enough to rage quit some players

Weather mod has also gotten some nice lighting and recipe fixes, I removed the demo item recipes too, they are demo and we have creative mode since the recipes were added so yeah, I think the clouds are acting differently due to some WIP code, oops! Not too bad though.

Feeling really good about the ZombieCraft update! Did a thorough playtest with some friends last night and when you use the session block/gui, everything runs great and according to plan, no OP required on a server if you make the block with the recipe or use the ZC menu bind then go to lobby.
