When life gives you a potato, wonder why the heck life just gave you a potato. Why not something else? Like money? Or a combustable lemon? No, you get a potato. Nothing else.
hey Risugami i'm sorry i know you don't like listening to noobs complain but i can't read through all 62 pages of the thread. i'm having a problem getting mods to run and you seem to be a worthwhile person to bring this up to. i've been trying to run 303s arrow mod and madaraz ultimate fist mod ,which both require your ModLoader. now i'll do everything how the install instructions say the game starts up fine and runs normally. buuuuuuttttt no mods any tips and this question is limited to Risugami anyone who may have some insight,,,, i would be more than welcome.
Are you running windows 7?
I don't know why but microsoft did something, I assume involving permissions, that makes minecraft mods not work for some people. CnC3 maps also don't work for me.
My solution is to run it on linux. :smile.gif:
cause you're using a texture pack that doesnt have it in it probably
The Recipe book doesn't have a icon in the any folder of the rar, but, i can get the book with ingame inventory editors, is just the recipe doesn't work

For everyone having problems with modloader you need to follow some basic trouble shooting common sense.
1. start fresh
2. pre-requisites get installed BEFORE things that require them (aka modloader gets installed first)
3. make sure the game still functions after each individual mod you install so you know exactly where the conflicts occur. Dont install 2-3 (or more) mods at once and then complain it doesnt work.
4. pay attention to EVERY SINGLE FILENAME that EVERY MOD you install uses.. if you install a mod that has a filename that an earlier mod used THAT MEANS YOU JUST ERASED at least part of the previous mod meaning it wont work.
Hopefully that helps you figure out where your problems are.
seronis like i said i've only used modloader + one mod (which needs modloader btw) so there shouldn't be a conflict there and i already ran it with only modloader and it works

I installed very carefully, and yet I get the same error as the above people :/
I've just started fresh with a new version, which seems to work fine on its own.
Then I deleted Meta Inf, gave it a test run. It still worked fine.
Then I installed Modloader, and it gives the infamous blackscreen. I'll start testing to see if the version is off or something.
I am currently running Windows 7.

ModLoader has zero issues on Win7. Black screen will mean the files are not properly installed. This means you could have messed up dragging the files or your archive program messed up copying them or the versions dont match. Delete all copies of modloader you have downloaded and redownload it before trying to reinstall on a fresh download of minecraft.jar
ive done so much searching and i cannot find anything that will work for this problem:
I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6, Minecraft Beta 1.2_02
I have Mod Loader installed properly already, and no other mods installed.
I am trying to install AudioMod so I can install Mo Creatures.
When I install audiomod, I copy the .class file and the two folders that come in the download into my minecraft .jar, then delete the META_INF folder. As far as I know, this is the correct way to install this mod.
When I start minecraft, it behaves normally and works with other mods that use Mod Loader, however the installation of AudioMod in addition causes all Minecraft sound to be muted. Both the music and the sound sliders are now automatically set to 0% for some reason, but even when i slide them up, the sound is still muted. In the options.txt file in the minecraft folder, I have made sure the "sound:" option reads: "sound:1.0" (meaning sound is set to 100%). Regardless, the sound sliders behave the same way, and the sound is still muted.
I tried all the solutions I could find on the MCforum and online including:
-Disabling internet connection before opening MC
-Making sure the META_INF folder is deleted (lol)
-only replacing the existing codecIBXM.class with the codecIBXM.class from the downloaded audiomod folder, as opposed to replacing the entire existing paulscode folder with the downloaded paulscode folder
-Reading the FAQ on this page!
None of these solutions have worked for me, and i HATE playing MC without sound.....
I dont know if you (Risugami) can help since I'm on a mac, but I think the installation is virtually the same as on windows so who knows..
I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with this! Has anyone else had this problem?
If I'm missing something obvious, please tell me!!

Or, you could just disable the UAC.
