im on a mac.
You'll want to read the last few pages of this thread where someone else on a Mac had the same issue you do. They resolved it here and posted about it.
This is a post so that I can remember where Modloader is when I next need it. :smile.gif: Awesome mods :biggrin.gif:
Hahaha, I've done that before, but I actually found something to contribute/say when I do it. ;-)
<.< I have found something to say! I said it's awesome! D: And considering I followed the instructions I can't do the bit of annoying the developers by asking things that are in the FAQ. ;P
Sorry for being annoying but I can't get modloader to work after updating to the latest client vesion I downloaded the latest modloader file and checked that it was for my client, but when I install the files and launch minecraft I get a black screen, I have tried with mods and texture packs applied aswell as with a vannilla .jar.
Sorry for taking up your time and I have read through large parts of the forum looking for a solution but I probably missed it because I suck at finding stuff.
but when I install the files and launch minecraft I get a black screen, I have tried with mods and texture packs applied aswell as with a vannilla .jar.
If you want help please detail the EXACT steps you took, because the correct process itself works just fine.
Ok sorry for not posting it in the first place.
I open up appdata/roaming/.minecraft/bin I then right click minecraft.jar and I open it with 7zip, I drag and drop the files from the modloader download onto the main part of the archive not any of the folders i assure that META-INF is deleted I then close the archive and launch minecraft beta 1.2_01 and instead of showing the mojang screen I am left with a black screen.
I used the modloader before I updated when I was using betsa 1.1_01 or whatever it was along with all mods and textures that I am currently using so I don't no what s wrong.
I also checked the mods class files and none of them are the same as modloaders.
Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.

Good. shall we assume you clicked on 7-zip's "open archive" right click menu item?

Again, exact steps. Was this all of the .class files?

Good.

You didn't do anything special, just closed 7-zip, correct?

So are you starting with a clean minecraft.jar file directly from the update? Or did you put other stuff in there (or had other stuff in there) before adding modloader?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say there.
Here's what you need to emphasize on to ensure the process is done correctly. You have the steps right, but you might be doing something outside of the steps of working with corrupted files:
[*:sm7w8pkh]Wipe MC completely and start over with a new download. All files (the .minecraft folder) to be sure. It shouldn't take too long. Don't add ANYTHING or ANY mod until the new ModLoader is installed. Then Run MC, login, and let it update itself. Run it again after you update to make sure it's working.
[*:sm7w8pkh]Download a new copy of modloader JUST TO BE SURE! Delete all of your old modloader files, rar downloads, extracted stuff, etc.
[*:sm7w8pkh]Make sure you're grabbing all files from modloader and dragging them into the minecraft.jar file opened in 7-zip. These include (all .class extensions): oc, pe, BaseMod, be, fg, hr, ModLoader, ni
[*:sm7w8pkh]Delete the entire META-INF folder and close 7-zip's window when you're done. Don't use any launcher or backup utility to run MC for the first time after this; just run the executable itself.
[*:sm7w8pkh]If everything was followed to a 'T' and you don't have corrupted files, ModLoader will work just fine with MC 1.2_01.
Also, a big oversight of some people trying to run mods is missing when an MC update gets pushed through. If one is, it will most likely wipe your existing minecraft.jar file and add a new version. Users might add mods after this thinking that modloader is still installed, when in fact it is not. This probably doesn't apply to your situation, but it's still worthwhile to mention. That is, at least, if people bother reading past pages of this thread. ;-)
And you're lucky I still have my patience since I'm newer here, because the old hands at doing this and helping others do this are tired of repeating the same things over and over again. In short, doublecheck everything, every step. When in doubt, start from scratch (or be willing to start from scratch later), and never assume anything.
I have a problem, about a month ago I saw a different floodgate mod and with that you could place blocks more than one space away like with yours it can only be like this. =Gate =Control =Neutral Block [] [] [] this is before [] and this is the after. but with the mod I mentioned in the beginning of the message allows you to do something like this. with only one control you could have the gate longer than one block. this would be very helpful when people have sky traps, they could have a huge trap door and flip a single switch to have a ton of mobs fall to there death.
I'm a bit of a noob here... I've done the minecraft.jar and downloaded the spawn gui but how to I open the GUI so I can use it? :l
right click it and make sure you have mod loader installed
What do I right click?
AS THE TITLE OF THE MOD SAYS... you click the
MOB

Just double checking that the description of the mod hasnt changed i went and read it myself again.. still the same.. the VERY FIRST thing said is "Adds a GUI to all mob spawners"
See my post that was IMMEDIATELY before yours. Specifically the part about
"This has been covered many MANY times".

Just give me page number, as I'm assuming this has been asked before.
All ModLoader files (.class files) dragged to the root of the minecraft.jar file (add to archive) when opened in a program such as 7-zip or WinRar.
Mod Archive
Thanks!
Hmm, any ideas? lol
