I suggest going to Application -> Utilities -> Java Preferences. If Java 6 isn't at the top of the list, move it there. If it is, I dunno.

problem: Minecraft Black Screen of Death...
ok: trying to do the more worlds mod, I figured something easy and safe.
I got the ModLoader, but with it in I don't see any change. Should I?
I threw in the More Worlds Beta, (all of this using Terminal, no problems compiling) and I get to the Mojang screen, and it dies.
On Console, I got this, can anyone decipher it?

EDIT: after carefully re-doing it all, even re-installing Minecraft, I got an error after only putting in Modloader:

Thanks for the tip. Moved Java SE 6 to the top, but same error :/
What version would be wrong? The Modloader is built for Beta 1.1_02, which is what I have, and Minecraft runs fine without the mod.... Idk...
Well, I'm pretty positive 'bad version number' refers to the Java version, at least. Just Googling that error makes that clear.
Are you sure the error is the same even after changing it? I'm sure it still black-screened, but did you run it from the command-line again to make sure? The reason I'm asking is because I had the same error as you, switched my Java priorities, and it still black-screened, but the reason changed.
Yup, completely identical. Unless Java SE6 isn't good enough for Modloader, lol. I'm gonna run software update, see what that gets me...
EDIT: Only software was Security Update, no change in the problem...
Does anyone know what version in particular it is talking about? Like has anyone actually read through the files and found it?
Ok, I tried putting some mods on my friends minecraft( he has windows) and it loaded up fine and I took his minecraft.jar and put it on my computer( I have a mac) and put it in my bin folder and it wont load up ( I get a black screen after login) Can someone please help me?
I don't think risugami's mods work on older macs. you probably need to upgrade your JVM to 1.6. can you find out what you're running, please?
EDIT: whoops. looks like what's going could also be that you need an EMPTY 'META-INF' folder, because mac java wants it (wtf is up with mac java? oh well). create an empty one and you may be good to go. if not, back to the JVM thing.
Im running java 1.6.0_22-b04-307
the empty Meta-INF folder dosent do anything the HD textuer patcher removes it and minecraft still works fine.
Im running MacOsx 10.5.8 (I dont know if thats the reason) ModLoader worked fine for me on alpha 1.2.6 so it should work for this version of mac
Are there any plans to allow these mods to be run on an SMP server? I was particularly looking at adding item repair to a server I host, since your implementation for repair requirements are the best I've seen, and the only one I've found that works with beta.
Thanks a ton for all your work, and happy holidays!
Good idea for Mac users to do if you're using a slightly older OS: Check using Java Preferences ( ~/Applications/Utilities/ ) that 1.6 is the prioritized java version, or else you'll get a black screen.
does anyone else have a problem with the Modloader?
I have mac 10.5.8, java se 6 1.6.0_22-b04-307.
regular game works fine, a console-launched MCEdit works fine.
But, as soon as I modd the minecraft.jar, even through the console, blackscreen. Right after the login...

yea im having the same problem
Open your minecraft.jar and take a screen shot of its contents. Specifically i want to see the list of all folders at the top.
I use Terminal to update my minecraft.jar, from a folder. Do you just want me to use my folder? it seems easier, but then again I'm not sure what you are looking for..
Alright guys, I wanted to show you something real quick. I'm doing a Let's Play of Minecraft Extreme. What is Minecraft Extreme? Well, it's basically my way of saying a modded minecraft with rules. I'm going to link you to an intro video, which isn't really part of the Let's Play, it's just supposed to give you an idea of what's in the game, and how I'll be playing. I put the video up more for the description and so that people won't ask too many questions, not to entertain. I have part one and two going up tonight, and Santa has already visited me in the first night (Really, you'll see what I mean). Also, the rules that I made for myself are another important part. Those are made to make the game more challenging and fun to view (and it sure is, just watch the Part 2 video), instead of just relaxed gameplay where all I do is settle down and chill. Also, the reason I put this on the thread here is because I use both the "more worlds" mod and your arrow mod. I love both of them, and while the worlds mod doesn't add anything to the gameplay, it is really helpful in organization and stuff. The arrows mod I haven't used yet, but it definately will come into play later, when I have resources that I don't need for tools.
I would like to believe you followed directions.. i really would.. except....
And yes.. this is EXACTLY why i insisted on a screen shot. Because black screen == user error. EVERY TIME.

sorry that was a new minecaft.jar i got here the one with mod loader
The Meta-inf folder gets removed when i use the HD minecraft texture patcher
Notice, in the Mac instructions, it says to delete the Mojang files in the META, not delete the META itself.
So, after matching my minecraft.jar to my 'moddit', and running then re-matching, it constantly re-adds the stupid META folder. wtf.
EDIT:
Ok this is getting wierd. I did those two line again, to update the folder under the path from the one I'm in, then extract from the pathed folder to what I'm in. And the MOJANG **** popped back up. WTF???
Has anyone else had any problems with the getUniqueEntityId function lately? This morning everything was fine, but now whenever I try to run one of my mods (JumpBlock, PressureTracks, and my new upcoming StairDiversity), I just black screen. I narrowed it down to those three that do it, so I'm guessing that's the function (unless it's RegisterBlock) because there are only two functions that are really different between those three mods and my ShrinkingRod mod, and I doubt it's RegisterBlock...

Why do we need to keep it because in alpha i deleted it when installing the modloader
