prerequisite: something that is required BEFORE something else
ModLoader is a prerequisite of other mods. You are using a mod that has a prerequisite IN ADDITION to modloader. Go read your mod descriptions and find out what it is.
Alright, I'm confused.
For modloader, it says "the main class of the mod should be prefixed with mod_". I understand that, but what does it apply to? Once you install modloader, change the main class files to mod_*insert rest of name here*, or only that, once you've installed modloader, whenever you install different mods, you have to add mod_ to them?

mod_ only applies if you are making a mod that uses ModLoader, the end user does not need to change anything.

Don't touch the modloader files. Don't rename them. Don't even look at them. You need to put the mod_ infront the name of the mod you are going to make use it. If its a mod downloaded don't touch their files either. Don't rename anything if you didn't create it.
I do eeverything correctly for the spawner gui, but when i right click it, i get this message:

Hey guys, another idiot has come to figure out just why his copy of ModLoader is failing miserably. I'll try to be as thorough as possible.
I have a completely clean copy of Minecraft, version 1.2_02 with HD game files. I've downloaded TFCs Mod Manager, and watched the videos to ensure I did this correctly. I downloaded ModLoader, grabbed it, and dragged it into TFCs Mod Manager. Everything goes smoothly... This is the only mod that is currently being added to the minecraft .jar (I'm brand new to Minecraft and modding in general). Once it finishes, I start Minecraft, Play Offline mode. I click on Single Player, and click on an Empty World slot. Building Terrain....Saving Chunks.... Then it freezes for awhile, and I get a Crash log. Here it is:

I've tried everything I could think of. Older versions of ModLoader... a whole new download of Minecraft, completely clean .jar.... I'm at a loss. Seeing as this is needed in MANY of the mods here, any help would be appreciated.
I did follow instructions. That tool did exactly what any other tool would have done. It opened the .jar and placed the files within said .jar, so YES I followed instructions. But just for shits and giggles, I put it in myself...and am still getting the same error.

Where in the instructions does it say to use any other tool besides an archive program or terminal?
And you probably have an old version of modloader.

no he doesn't i have the EXACT same problem! I will tell you what i did:
1. download audiomod
2. open the .rar
3. open terminal and put in the text
4. put the .class files in mctmp
5. input the other text
6. I did not enjoy
and YES i deleted everything inside of META-INF
WAAAIT... hold the phone, when i just did it for audiomod it worked... it also worked when i only did modloader
maybe they just hate each other because of the update?
I just installed fresh downloads of both audio mod and modloader with a fresh install of minecraft.jar. Guess what no crash. You guys must not know how to install mods. You can say you've followed the instructions to the T or even the I. I can say i walked to the ends of the earth but does that mean i did it? No. If your game crashes its more then likely a bad install by the end user.

Dont worry he's mentioning mctmp (which means following mac instructions) and then said deleted "everything" inside meta-inf. Everyone who knows how to install mods knows that will cause black screens on mac. So still doing something stupid (aka not following directions)

So you used some other tool to install and did NOT follow the instructions.. seems you should be asking for request in the mod manager thread.

Then use 7zip.
