The only mods that I have are Rei's Minimap, Optifine, Mobtalker, and ModLoader. I just installed (again) ModLoader today. Is there any fix to this or do I have to completely remove ModLoader?
Try renaming your %appdata%\.minecraft\mods folder to mods2 and see if that helps.
Holy crap! It actually worked! You are now my new god -bows-
You can probably delete that mods2 folder, then, unless you want to downgrade to Minecraft 1.4.5 for some reason and play with your old mods.
...And I'll expect regular burnt offerings and genuflections
i downloaded the modloader file, and when i tried to place it's contents into my minecraft.jar folder. i got this error:
! Cannot rename __rzi_0.727 to C:\Users\Gateway laptop\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
i tried deleting "__rzi_0.727" and it gave me the same error but with a new file... what am i doing wrong? i've been installing mods for like ever and this is the first time this has happened to me is it META-INF's fault this is happening to me??? just a suspicion
and i also dont understand why it is "being used by another process" minecraft isnt running and i've deleted the contents of the mods folder
issue fixed... but now i have another one. i have downloaded modloader 1.4.6(from adfly) + single player commands + too many items, and now when i try to play minecraft all i get is a black screen... no crash report or anything... just a black screen can anyone help me figure this out? thanks
Well that's nice.
On mediafire, the downloads are only for 1.2.5 and below
Where the fap is 1.4.5 download etc.
This is for modloader btw
GIMME 1.4.5 DOWNLOAD!
Copy paste the link below into the address bar then change "Latest" to a version number (IE: 1.4.5) then press enter.
This is the link from "Download (Direct)" on the original post.

That's because Single Player Commands (by Simo) is still in it's 1.4.5 Dev Build release form. Trying to use ~any~ mods outside of your current client build is likely to cause that horrible black screen of death crash.
And, because I know you (and many others) are going to ask, Simo has basically "discontinued" SPC development. He hasn't exactly stated that he's "100% quit" working on it, but if you read the first post of his SPC thread, you'd see he's made it "open source", and has essentially placed it into the communities hands.
Which is a shame, since I've always depended on SPC to use WorldEdit... and now, I either have to remain in 1.4.5 until someone takes on the project, or move on to 1.4.6 and give up on the mod.

There's the ModLoader "addCommand" method, which is what I use to add commands for my mod. Maybe someone could make a mod to interface with WorldEdit using mojang-style commands?
The Death Chest mod doesn't seem wanting to cooperate with me. I dragged an dropped it in my Winrar MC file and a death chest never appears when I die. Am I missing something?
I've tried installing Modloader using Magic Launcher about 3 times now. This download was the third. I keep getting a "not compatible" each time. Any help you could give me?
When I use updated Modloader, MC can't load or create world.

yeah im working on a mega build in the end right now and single player commands wound be sooooooooooooo helpful right now... ugh. somebody update it already!
(I build in the end because theres an endless amount of space to build in and there isnt any block rendering so no lag)
but anyway thank you so much, i guess i'll just need to wait until sombody updates SPC :T
Then it would be nice if Risugami would mention that in the mod description. It never used to be like that, and as it is now no part of the mod is really useful in any way since all mined spawners give nothing but pigs when placed. In creative mode, I could just spawn what I want from spawn eggs anyway, so the mod isn't even that helpful in that mode, either. As for game balance, Timber! unbalances the game, too, but it still works in survival.
This is a disappointing change since I liked getting to see and use some of the rarer mobs, and it gave me a bit more incentive (along with moss stone) to clear dungeons.
I'm not understanding the logic here either. why would we use it if we wanted vanilla balance? spawn eggs/inventory edit are more efficient, if all we wanted was to spawn mobs or farm items in creative. only map makers have a use for this as it is, even then you could just use inventory edit to get the spawner you want, instead of opening another gui.
I have a Problem. Whenever i Install the modloader into minecraft it pops up with a black screen i found how to fix this but it said you didnt delete the META-INF File and i checked and i did i do every time i re install it also so any solutions. Plus im using a 1.4.5 Mod so i made my minecraft into 1.4.5
