Btw, I ran through the file download and realized my browser thought that I added a virus to the folder, just click the arrow ( if using chrome ) and select keep. I swear my life ( which is the most important thing to me ) that there is no virus in here.
Just download winrar, its free and it can open nearly any file. just download the winrar x86 ( or the x32 bit, as it is known as ) and just use that, it will say its a trial but you can continue to use it
I'm sorry If its showing up to you as a word document, but when i go tot he download page it is a .rar file for me and i can extract it easily, I don't know how to help you. I'll see what I can do but for right now you just might not be able to download it, Sorry.
Don't worry about it. Basically, I click open file (which, by the way, has the Adobe reader icon) and it brings it up on Notepad as a bunch of gibberish. I could send you the gibberish in a private message maybe.
First of all, let's forget about my download problems. That's behind us. Onto the map.
I like the concept, and the first level was good. The second level, however, did not give me any keys, so I couldn't get anywhere.
The concept is something new that I have not seen before (although someone else may have) and personally, I thought that it was interesting, although lacking in excitement. Your use of commands was fine. I think that what you really need is to have extra excitement. Like, you have to kill mobs to get the keys. Just going around and stepping on pressure plates as, to put it frankly, boring, but if you added that excitement (and maybe some parkour and searching for hidden things) the map would be much better. Although I do accept that it is in early stages of development...if you were planning to do some things like that, excuse me.
Another thing I noticed is that the map doesn't really have a goal. All adventure maps need a goal that they are leading up to, for example, the famous Herobrine's Mansion map, by Hypixel, all the boss battles and exploring led up to a battle with Herobrine and his Wither Pet. Once again, though, I realize that this map is in early stages, and if you were planning to add something like that, well, ignore this part of my comment.
So...that's my review, I guess. Sorry if I sounded harsh, I am too harsh sometimes, but overall I liked it. I apologize if this wasn't what you were expecting...this is my first ever map review XD
Also, I wrote a minecraft story (or part of one, anyway), and you can check it out here. If it's not too much trouble for you, a little feedback would be appreciated greatly. It has not gotten any feedback :`( But don't feel pressured, man. (If you feel like I'm advertising, sorry. You may or may not be right XD )
Thank you so much for the feedback Jedi, I honestly think you were not being harsh at all, you said what you wanted to say and I shall take items into consideration,
First i had no idea that the 2nd map had no keys at all, It might have been when i play tested the 2nd level and forgot to restock the dispensers honestly XD. My bad, 2nd, I never really thought of a big leading event, so thank you for that suggestion. Originally it was just to become a famous dungeon diver who was trying to collect all the riches he could delving into deep mysterious and forgot parts of the undergrounds, but i never really put a story to it. So that was a good suggestion.
3rd, I'm pretty sure the concept isn't new, it probably has been a while since somebody has done this thing, but thank you anyway.
4th, Adding extra excitement, I shall do that. I have not been able to figure out how to make mobs drop custom items, but I should figure that out. I really need too. I will try and add new things like more battles with rewards and other things like that.
And that's why I asked for help and feedback, I don't know what to add, so I needed help and you delivered that help, thank you once again.
To recap, Don't feel like you were harsh, you were very helpful in fact. I might not be able to add everything but i certainly will try.
And I'm glad you play tested my map, you're always welcome to suggest new things aswell.
Thank you -Zaren
P.S. Sorry If my sentence structure isn't very good, I suck at writing XD
Glad I could help! Keep it up -- I'm looking forward to seeing more of your map. And I'll be happy to give more feedback if that would be helpful.
By the way, I may be taking down the more recent story ... I think it needs more work. But if you get a chance to take a look at the first few chapters of my first book: The Griefer Attack, I'd love to know what you think. You can find it here.
