Guardians - A Fan-Made Adventure Map Inspired by "Destiny"
Background:
Hello everybody, I have decided to make a thread on an upcoming Adventure map I am making, and I wanted to get some feedback and any tips you may have. I am a huge fan of Destiny, and I have played since the Beta back in July of 2014. Upon the Beta's end, I was inspired to create a replica of some of the things I had seen in Minecraft, but eventually, it evolved into much more: a complete Adventure map with its own storyline.
Guardians: Old Russia Trailer
Want to check out the newest trailer of the map in action? Check out Old Russia!
Guardians: "Centuries" Trailer
Liked the first one, but want to see more locations? Check out this trailer!
Edit: as this is the older trailer, some areas in Old Russia have drastically changed. Please keep this in mind.
Map Information:
Guardians is a project began entirely by one person, with recent support from a close friend. Once finished, the map will include a full single player campaign(with multiplayer option) that takes place in an alternate Destiny timeline, spanned across missions taking place on different locations: Old Russia, Venus, the Moon, Mercury, and Mars. Side mission locations include Europa (One of Jupiter's moons), Old Chicago, Old Seattle, the European Dead Zone, and more. As the player progresses throughout the story, they will gain new and better equipment and abilities. Like the game, players will be prompted to choose one of three ability classes: Titan, Hunter, or Warlock. The locations will have their own Resource packs, as each pack will contain music relative to the area, just like Destiny. Also, enemies encountered on different locations will not be the same as others, providing another reason to have multiple resource packs. Unfortunately, the map will only work on more recent computers, as the base for the map itself is generated on an amplified biome world, and it may take up more space than an average map when it is completed.
Story:
In Guardians, you play as an Exo, killed during the Collapse of Humanity, revived centuries later into an Alien infested world, different than anything you remember. Your mission is simple: fight against enemy forces that seek to eradicate mankind, and save the Solar System. At least, that is your mission until you stumble upon Talon, a lost Guardian turned dark by the mechanical Vex. He asks you to help him seek revenge against those who have taken everything from him. Not knowing the potential of the Vex, you accept, and fight alongside him until your mission is fulfilled. As your adventure progresses, you will face the return of Crota, the dark god of a race bearing the name of Hive. Upon Crota's demise, Talon returns to request your aid in the Awoken's efforts to destroy the Vex. The rest is up to you to discover.
A sequel, following the story of Destiny's Expansion 2: House of Wolves and The Taken King, will be released later on.
Screenshots:
Of course, the map is not fully completed, but below are screenshots of complete areas with full functionality.

Gameplay:
Subclasses:
As stated before, the player will be prompted to choose one of three Classes at the start of the map. Class types and descriptions are listed below.
Titan
Titans are tough, hard-headed Guardians who focus their strength into their melee and special attacks. They can absorb the most damage, but are slightly slower than other classes when abilities are gained.
Upgrades to the class itself consist mainly of Strength and Health Boost buffs. Though these are the main upgrades, more will be unlocked as your experience grows.
Hunter
Hunters are swift, stealthy Guardians who commonly take tactical approaches to situations. Young Hunters will learn to become resistant to explosions. They may be the fastest Guardians, but they sacrifice weapon damage for their tactics.
Upgrades to the class itself consist mainly of Swiftness and Jump Boost buffs. Though these are the main upgrades, more will be unlocked as your experience grows.
Warlock
Warlocks are intelligent scholars, who harness the power of the Traveler's Light to their gain. Young Warlocks will learn to jump higher, and eventually deal bonus weapon damage. Unlike Titans or Hunters, they cannot gain additional health, which may be a struggle on their journey.
Upgrades to the class itself consist mainly of Regeneration and Resistance buffs. Though these are the main upgrades, more will be unlocked as your experience grows.
Mission Types:
Though the most encountered classification of story missions will be named Quests, there are other types of missions, with different names for the player to better understand what they are about to go into. All average Destiny players will recognize most of the styles of missions, but more have been added into the mix.
Quests:
Quests are average story missions designed to be moderately easy for the player to beat. Quests are based mostly on dialogue and advancing the narrative, usually with a final objective, such as a micro-boss or encountering a needed item. This type of mission is the most commonly seen throughout the map.
Strikes:
Strikes occur less often than Quests and are normally started with one core objective of killing a boss. Strikes are designed to intimidate the player with enemies significantly stronger than the player, with built in checkpoints in case the player dies. Checkpoints are marked by your HUD displaying "Darkness Zone"
Arenas:
Arenas are just as they sound: a seemingly endless onslaught of enemy hoards. The player must survive all five waves, including bosses, to claim victory.
Raids:
Every Guardians dream. Or nightmare. Or both. Raids are long, hard, trying labyrinths designed to teach the player tough survival skills through a trial and error process. Raids contain the hardest of enemies, all with doubled health. Two to three bosses will be encountered in each raid. Any Guardian that braves a Raid and survives is awarded with the best loot the map has to offer.
Cutscenes:
Cutscenes will play a huge role in the storytelling of the map. Upon reaching a cutscene area, the player will be prompted with a link to a YouTube video corresponding with the current situation. Said cutscenes are created in Minecraft, but are unable to display in the map itself. I personally believe there are ups and downs to this idea, but this would be ideal rather than reading a transcript in the chat bar.
Vendors:
The main hub of the map is the Tower, a home for Guardians in the last surviving city. In the Tower, vendors will be found selling weapons, armor, experience, and even decrypting engrams. Yes, Master Rahool will sadly be in the map.
Anyway, most vendors from Destiny will still be included in Guardians, minus any vendors regarding the PvP aspect of Destiny.
Orbit:
Instead of any other Mission Select screen, Destiny's Orbit has been recreated to replace just that. Sounds simple enough, right?
Size:
Unfortunately, I do not believe this map will be able to run smoothly on all computers. It was created on an amplified world, and will require some memory-heavy resource packs to guarantee the full experience. My apologies for any inconvenience regarding this issue when the map is released.
Thanks for checking the post out! I'll be posting map progress over on my YouTube channel Shadow and Falcon Gaming. I hope you like the map so far, even though it may not be out for a while. If you have any ideas or suggestions please tell me! Nothing but the story is set in stone currently, so any mechanics may be altered by player influence.

Release Info
As of March 2016, the map is officially BACK IN DEVELOPMENT! As soon as the main storyline of Earth is completed(about a month or two away,) an Alpha version of the map will be released for feedback and playtesting! Check back for details!
Unfortunately, this map is still in progress, so it cannot be downloaded. I will upload a download link soon for an Alpha version to get community feedback, so if you would want to know when that happens, either check back to this post or on my YouTube channel. Thanks!
The map is still unfinished, hence it being under the WIP maps section. I will have a download link for an Alpha version of this map soon, so anyone can play and leave feedback. Check this post again soon or on my YouTube channel to find out when it will go up. Thanks!
hey shadow i made "grenades" for you. so you don't have to use potion bottles, check it out: striker , gunslinger ,void walker.
hope you use them and its just the basic three grenades, and can't wait to play your map
Thank you! The map is currently undergoing some major changes and additions, and hopefully by next month it can have a tiny release with only Old Russia available. I'm pushing for sometime near the release of the Taken King as a kind of celebratory thing. See you then!
I re-watched your new trailer and I really want to support this project. I recommend you change the hunger bar as well as the wither and poison effect that changes your hearts. I also recommend you change the hud to make the helmet screen a little bit clearer to make it easier to see, and maybe a little bit less green but only a little. One cool thing you could do is change the sun to the traveler to symbolize light and maybe have the moon look like eyes of oryx: http://imgur.com/jDjE1Cd
