Beta Test: ================ What Beta Test? The map is released.
This looks very impressive, and I would be happy to be a beta tester if you are looking for any.
Yes! Maybe once I fix some of the major bugs, I might let you and anyone else who wants too, beta test the map. The bugs I found were the map breaking ones, so any others are most likely tiny errors like a misspelling or a lack of an item or something along those lines.
Alright, so I fixed the major issues that I found when play testing it myself and with a friend. Now I want to find a few people interested in beta testing the map and helping me find any other errors.
As an added bonus, all people who help beta test will have their player head placed somewhere on the map as a hidden Easter egg/secret.
If you are interested in entering the beta test please comment down below and tell me your minecraft user name. I will try to private message you the map soon afterward.
When playing the map please use [snapshot 14w11b]
You can play single player or multiplayer.
1. The moving parkour course in Episode III has been fixed. There was a slight bug with the redstone that caused one of the jumps to be impossible. So just fly over that portion in creative and flip the lever.
2. I fixed a few aesthetic bugs too. Nothing too big.
Added Buildings surrounding the play area (Make it feel more like a city)
Fixed Bank Alarm sounds
Added Current Beta Tester heads
Added a crafting table where there needed to be one.
Fixed a spelling error in a book.
Fixed Spawn rate
Fixed a glitched spawn point
Added more surrounding buildings
Fixed water in the sewer area
Removed a ladder in the layered maze that allowed players to cheat
Added more aesthetics
Spawn rate tinkering
Removed a tree
Edited Final Boss slightly. (A bit more health)
Added set game rules upon starting the map
Tinkered with experience given at the end of each stage
Fixed a bug with the After show
Edited the Rankings slightly
Fixed an error with text during the minecart ride
Fixed a multiplayer error with popularity votes.
Rearranged a few aesthetics across all Episodes
There are still a few more known bugs that I need to address and I will get to them within a few days. I have decided to pin release for a few weeks. I want to cut down on as many bugs as possible and add more aesthetics where there is some neglect.
So over the past few days I've been in the process of moving out of my college dorm for summer break.
Yesterday I had the very first, full multiplayer testing of my map.
It went well and only a few minor bugs popped up and I have fixed them this morning.
THE OFFICIAL RELEASE WILL PREMIERE IN APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS! (Or shortly after 1.8 is released)
Prepare yourselves for the greatest minecraft reality competition show that ever aired!
(On a side note, I am closing the beta test. Any other bugs that are found will be dealt with in map updates after release. To current beta testers, feel free to continue testing the map version you currently have. However most of the bugs you find in it have likely been fixed. I have fixed over a hundred bugs in the past few days. But please message me any that you find or small suggestions on things to change.)
I may update this topic a few more times as the Full release grows near.
Fixed all known bugs and renamed the Bosses.
Also added more pants. (never had any leg armor it seemed. So now there is more)
Also added some collectible books filled with utter nonsense. (Why not add some bizzare humor into the apocalypse?)
Gonna play test it with some friends again today. (Time to find more hidden bugs)
In other news, I have started considering the theme for Season II. I'm thinking something Sci-fi, dealing with aliens, spaceships, and galactic turmoil.
I'm also experimenting with making my own resource pack for Season II! (There is none required for Season I)
We'll see how it goes. So far I've customized a few blocks and mobs but not sure how I'm liking my current design theme.
Final Boss now teleports properly if knocked off the stage.
Final Boss now has knock back.
More Host Text throughout the progression of the map.
Added a few more custom books.
Changed Minecart tour slightly.
Added more food at beginning of Episode I
Added Princess and Spike.
Fixed bank Iron doors.
Fixed security piston for the sewer level.
Fixed spawn point in Episode I Street 2 level
Changed Episode III boss (Now harder and has different name)
Modified Village battle.
Skyfire can no longer jump 3 blocks. (now 2)
Added a bonus chest right before final boss. (In plain sight but you'll have to find a way to it.
Tweaked Moving parkour course slightly.
Set initial gamemode to adventure with command blocks upon starting the map.
Nerfed Single player reward for Episode III
Increased spawn rate on several levels.
Shortened timer on several levels.
Modified Scoreboard slightly.
Added Mr. Fluffy Bums and Sparky.
Added Jack and Molly.
Fixed Host text at several points.
Removed blocks that allowed a level skip if performing a very hard parkour jump.
Added an extra side area in Episode II. (Not a level, just a place with a chest)
Added a chest with a book called (Spoilers)
Fixed the books (Chapters 1 - 12) These are utter nonsense and have been edited slightly to make even less sense.
Fixed a spelling mistake in (Fluffy and Mittens)
Added a crafting table to security office.
Added a few barrier blocks to stop cheating on the waterfall.
Final Boss now has stronger minions.
Moved Lumber's Revenge to a later stage of the map. (Too overpowering early on.)

Removed excess materials from various chests. (Balancing)
Single player compatibility is fixed.
Stuff to still fix:
More Host text for Episode III and Episode IV
Change text on minecraft ride for Episode IV
Fix slight lag during first level of Episode I
Add more aesthetics.
Make Rewards better.
Make Punishments worse.
Spell check again.
Test moving Parkour again, again, again. (Make sure it is possible) (There is one jump giving me trouble with timing)
Make Host nicer/meaner at various places.
Add Host voice sound to certain text calls.
Add a boss for Episode II
Play Test at least 3 more times. (Tested about 20 times already)
Release is scheduled for early next week. (Hopefully)
Exodus Season II info:
Plans are already being made for development of Season II.
I plan for Season II to have a more active story and one that will challenge players in a whole new way thanks to some of the things slime blocks can now do. (Season I is already complete, and adding a new area with slime blocks would not feel overly natural.)
Also there will be a true villain for Season II. (Unlike Season I where there is no distinct villain besides the host who isn't really a villain.)
Season II will begin production in two weeks.
Season II is set to take place in space and on some sort of alien world.
Features for Season II include:
Custom Resource pack
A real Villain that you will hate. (Actually see him throughout the map)
Less Arena style feel.
More Adventure oriented.
Viewers votes now more influential.
An Epic final battle twice as ambitious as Season I.
Play time shortened some. (Will be at least 2 hours though)
Will have 4 Episodes.
Zero G Battle (maybe)
Everything you love about Season I times two.
More compact redstone = Less taxing on the computer.
Likely use some sort of editing tool so that production speed is much faster.
Release = (Maybe around 6 months after project initiation)
Exodus Season II: A Space Adventure
coming Fall 2014
Play tested twice since last post and have found only a few minor issues that need to be dealt with. I will likely play test one more time to be sure all serious bugs are gone. (Also gonna rebalance items slightly.)
Tomorrow I'm gonna start working on making a map trailer for the official release. Hopefully I can make it better than just a slide show of pictures. I want to actually show some gameplay and cool features of the map.
Roughly 5 days till release. (Maybe a few more. I might just wait for 1.8 if its not out by then.)
Finished making a map trailer, that actually turned out better than I expected. However I won't post it until the release date in case I decide to change something else. It's a little over 3 minutes but consists almost entirely of gameplay recording. I recorded over 2 hours and managed to squish it down into such a small video. I feel proud of myself.
Also sense the next snapshot came out yesterday adding the /title command, i may play around with it and see what I can do. I think it may be a pretty cool addition to certain areas of the map. It won't change the map to much but I think it would be a worth while pursuit.
Also bug tested again while I was recording gameplay yesterday. Found 0 bugs! I know unbelievable. I'm sure there are some somewhere, but I'll fix those after the release.
Who knows maybe I'll release the map on Sunday May 18th!
