I've recently started building a new adventure map. It's loosely based on an old 1960's sci-fi movie called Fantastic Voyage.
Short synopsis:
A very important person has become deathly ill and the only way to save them is to shrink someone down to enter his body to find the cause/save his life. You play the brilliant scientist who has volunteered for this dangerous and experimental mission.
You'll need to travel through the respiratory system, alimentary system, cardiovascular system, and nervous system identifying and fixing various problems. All the while being under threat from viruses (retextured creepers), bacteria (retextured slimes) & white blood cells (retextured zombies).
I have a bad habit of starting maps, then abandoning them when they're just half finished. I'm hoping that if I have this work-in-progress thread to update, it will motivate me to finish.
So far I've completed:
The hospital that serves as the starting area. (including a command block based dialogue system)
The quarantine area where you meet the patient and learn about the mission. (including dialogue)
The experimental shrink ray
Currently working on:
The now giant sized room you go to after leaving the "shrink ray" (still building it. Then I'll put in the dialogue)
Still need to do (in no particular order):
Respiratory system (different zones for the nasal passage, trachea & lungs)
Cardiovascular system (heart)
Nervous system (brain, I was thinking of some sort of redstone puzzle to light up the different lobes of the brain. But I'm still sorting out exactly what I want the challenge to be for that level)
Alimentary system (different zones for the stomach, kidneys & pancreas)
Normal sized hospital room with the now cured patient, for the ending.
Texture pack
Dialogue for the different levels.
Cool map idea actually, wouldn't have thought of it. Any chance you could give me/other-people-viewing-this-topic some screenshots?
I like the idea as I said earlier and if you have redstone/commandblock question I'll do my best to check this thread every so often and answer it (beware answer may be long and overly complicated)
Cool Idea, *has no epic sig*

I haven't had much time to work on this project this past weekend. But I did grab a few screen shots of what I have so far
The hospital starting area:
Outside
One of the corridors & the nurses station
The quarantine area where you're introduced to the patient/receive your mission.
I forgot to take a photo from the outside, but here's the inside of the shrink ray & the (currently half finished) room you go to upon leaving it.
Here's the ship you'll be traveling in inside the patient's body.
This is the original ship from the movie that my map's based on.
It's like seeing double eh? Lol
I'm also planning a texture pack which I haven't started yet. But here's some very rough sketches on paper of what I'd vaguely like the creeper, slime & zombie textures to look like. (yea, I know the quality sucks, sorry)
My next thing to build will be the respiratory system, which will have three zones (nasal passage, trachea & lungs). I'll update the thread when I have something new to show.

Thanks! And I added some screen shots of what I have so far.
You can give me a hand with a command block issue if you want. It will save me the chore of looking it up :-). Is there a set of commandblock commands where I can give the player blindness & nausea for a short time (5-10 seconds)?
The way I was planning the travel between the zones was to have the player board the ship & press a button which would teleport him to an identical looking ship in the next zone (it's supposed to feel like the same ship, just moved to the next stage). I think a small amount of nausea/blindness will make the transition more seamless, especially if I added a line somewhere about that being a side effect of being shrunk.
I really like the screenshots so far actually, looks epic. I was about to help with the command block question but derB3atkill beat me too it. Glad you you got some help. I see this topic is getting a little old but I'd like you to know you still have supporters! Any updates/new screenshots would be awesome. I was trying to find a guys who knows his way around textures but I had a hard time finding one (still don't have one). I hope you haven't given up on this project, its a great idea!
You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of shore, and, at that point you have been given the greatest gift of all the gifts, choice. You can never make that choice wise until you have been foolish, and to be foolish you must be curious, and to be properly curious you must have courage. The courage when you lost sight of shore.

My laptop died (in an incredible dramatic way, the battery overheated, started smoking, swelled up and cracked the laptop's logic board)
I was about 30% finished, but now I have to rebuild the map from scratch. I'm about 5% complete now, but making a detailed map is a long term project for me.
Sorry.
I'm also working on a few other (less story driven) maps that should be done sooner. You can check out my post for the map "Temple of Xolotl" an aztec themed adventure map. It should be finished the soonest.
Glad to see this old thing come back. It's am amazing idea, and I'd like you to know you have support from me.
I'll definitely check out all of your maps, you seem to be super creative in that sense.
Also, if you're still worried about having a map crash/laptop shutdown, use dropbox. I use it to back up my server files whenever I find the time, as well as anything important I put on my computer. It's awesome and free to use for something near 2 gigs. You can get your files anywhere you have an internet connection. Jeez that sounded like an ad. Anyway, if you;re worried do that.
As I said, glad to see this thing back up.
Cheers to you man. Keep this up, I want you to know you've got support.
