I'm brand new here so please forgive me if I'm unsure of the proper etiquette or exactly where information ought to go.
I enjoy making unnecessarily large maps. Ludicrously large. With 64GB of RAM, you can have a lot of fun.
I've recently completed a map of Japan (one of my favourite places on Earth) which measures 108000x108000 blocks. I created this map from scratch using global height data in QGIS.
Now I know that having such an enormous map isn't practical, as one player could never even come close to filling it, but I still think it's great fun.
If I've done this correctly, then I have attached an image of the completed map. I have not yet exported it, as it takes several hours, but it is finished in WorldPainter.
Is there anybody interested in this? Or will it remain in the "pointless" basket.
It'd be great if a lot of people had access to it and could build temples, homes etc on it. I'm a noob so I don't know if this is possible or not.
As you can see, there are no Ryukyu Islands.
The small yellow circles scattered around show the size of the visible area around the player according to WorldPainter. (One in Tokyo and another one in Tohoku)
