I have been playing minecraft since I was in high school about 10 years ago. So, you could say I have a basic understanding of how it all work. That being said, there is one thing I would like to do and I just don't know where to being. Make a shareable maze. More specifically, I want people to be able to open the map starting in a specific place, are unable to break blocks (unless they are supposed to), can trigger permanent, map-changing traps and such, and then when want to start the maze over again (assuming they liked it that much) can just restart the map. Also, when they die in the map, they can start from a checkpoint or just the starting point. Also Also, controlling mobs is very important. Not how they move, just where they spawn.
I have what I believe to be a handful of thoroughly entertaining and brain bending puzzles. I would love nothing more than to share these mazes with the community and get some feedback!
If there is another forum that addresses this, drop a link. If you have experience doing stuff like this let me know. If you have any ideas at all or just want to be notified when a puzzle is ready let me know!
Mostly what I'm looking for is 1. How to share a map 2. how to make blocks impervious 3. how to make a map "replayable" 4. How to control Mob spawns.
1. You can access the map file on Windows by typing %appdata% in the search box, and then click Roaming -> .minecraft -> saves -> your world folder. You can put this folder into a WinRAR zip archive, and upload the archive to a third-party sharing website (like Mediafire), and share the link for people to download.
2. You can make blocks impervious by putting players in adventure mode! When in minecraft, type "/gamemode adventure" (or it might be "/gamemode @p adventure now), and you won't be able to break blocks. Either way, I'm pretty sure that as long as you switch to adventure mode when the map is complete, other players will start out in adventure mode.
3. This is a bit more complicated. One way to do this is to have players delete their old world and copy/paste a fresh world into their saves folder. Otherwise, you'll have to look at commands or command blocks. There are command block tutorials on youtube. Even if you don't need all the information about command blocks immediately, having basic knowledge of them is really useful. Just make sure the tutorial is in 1.13.
4. This can be achieved with the /summon command (which is used to summon mobs and other entities). This should be covered in a command block tutorial.
If you want some help with specific things, like specific commands you can use, send me a message! Though I can't guarantee I won't be busy.
